At the risk of raising ire , I saw Ragtime with the original cast and she can't hold a candle to Marin Mazzie. It's difficult to sing just a cut , but she doesn't seem to have a true sense of what the song is about. Of course, it could have been how she was directed.

That said, I don't understand why Ragtime can't get a break. Brian Stokes Mitchell was up for the Tony for this and lost to Alec Cummings in Cabaret. Cummings was remarkable, mind you, but BSM was transcendental.

the first reason why I'm upset because the cut out 3/4 of the song so American idiot can have more time on stage and the second reason i'm upset is because she should have won the tony and not catherine

this was definately one of my favorites from last night, but the whole show was spectacular & sean hayes was a brilliant host, I love him. I had entered that "ticket to the tony's" contest on the cbs site, so I was a little sad, watching it, that I didn't win, haha. but thanks so much for posting, christiane's voice blew me away, & her hair looks so much more convincing than ruthie henshall's in "les mis" haha

This was the best performance of the night. Such a shame it was sort of for nothing, since the show is closed :(

@eiknarf2012 Same here! Thats why I posted it lol. I'm still watching them right now and it's still my favorite. This year of the Tonys is a JOKE! All the shows really aren't great except for The Addams Family and Promises, Promises. The rest seem like Vegas shows.
