I had a maglite 3D.. only trouble with it from day one.. need to hit it to make full power.. not any thing a can do to make it work.. tried all.. gave all my maglites away.. last year.1 AAA, mini,3D.. have a led lenser david and chinese tiger 32led flashlight that I trust more than my old maglites... also bought som fenix l2t for 6dollar...
yes it still works but it is different instead of a half of turn to make it change you might have to go 3 full turns because there is no cam. so it uses the threads on the maglite to adjust from spot to flood.
You need a "HeatSink", be sure to get one for the SSC P7 and for a D or C maglite depending on which one you have. Kaidomain sells them I think but if they don't there are people on candlepowerforums that do. the heatsinks run about 15 to 20 dollars.
if i had 1 dollar for every pixel in this video, i would have one dollar

I am attempting a similar Mag 2D project. How did you get the C batteries to fit well in the D Maglite?

I have had a 4 cell D maglite for about 10 years.
I bought the LED upgrade bulb.
It does not have the range of the old lamp.
But the brightness of the LED makes it better for me.
I work at night as a Security Guard and it is my old friend to carry with me by myself in the dark.
Bobby...
PS. I use NIMH rechargeable batteries and they work fine.
It would be to expensive to keep changing out the alkaline.

joseflobby 2 years ago
Well i bought them on ebay they are the tenergy 4500 sub-C batteries. I didn't know walmart sold sub-C's but maybe.
OfficerThompson8588 2 years ago
Just type: Sub C batteries in the ebay search and they should come up, also I would recommend only getting rechargeables.

how can i make the beam spread out instead of a straight beam like the one on this vid?
karrar55 2 years ago
You want it to be a flood beam instead of spot? For flood all you have to do is losen the maglite head a little and it goes from spot to flood.
OfficerThompson8588 2 years ago
that feature would still work after u modify it to this led?
karrar55 2 years ago
yes it still works but it is different instead of a half of turn to make it change you might have to go 3 full turns because there is no cam. so it uses the threads on the maglite to adjust from spot to flood.

o cool but i seen in a forum that u need a hotsink for the light. where can i get that? Thanks!
