Fuck I got laughed at for pointing this out to people, as I'm a true independant mind. 100 people could give the same answer and i'll look at them like they are fucking crazy and give my independant analysis and answer. A gift that is shit on in the colletive society of morons and idiots that will say anything at their NEED to fit in no matter what.
I participated in this experiment in my highschool last year. I consider myself to be independent-minded, and I still totally went along with what everyone else was saying. I thought that I was maybe doing it wrong. I mean, it really just makes you think and reflect. It's not just unintelligent people and insecure teenagers who fall for this.
It's hard to stand up to another person when you're a 4 year old girl staring up at your aunt as she towers over you, hands on hips, a stern "you will obey or else" look in her eyes, as everyone else watches to see if you'll convert back to christianity. You know you may be denied safety, comfort, love. Your father was a pastor. Your mother's in the hospital from a psychosis. You wouldn't dare disappoint the people who birthed you and raised you. God loves good girls. CONFORM OR DIE! Okay ...
@ContaMuir17a agreed. If more ppl knew about this phenomenon I believe less would be affected. We could get more free thinkers in this world. But along side this we would have to re-stress what is taught in the science class. We cant have ppl just exchanging facts with opinions. You must show repeatable proof if you wish to make your opinions fact.
group think has incredible power over ppl. BUT I do think that it depends on age and even gender. Personally, I have very rarely gone against my own eyes/ears/logic....but that's just me. Since i was a kid.. was a non-conformist b4 i even knew the term.

I know the answer, but nobody seems that curious about it. To me, that's when it really gets interesting. The "group's power" is more important for better reasons than we nonconformists are willing to admit. When we understand that rather than criticize it, we will know how to change it.
