  • This Sifu is a great master and teacher.

  • There are sifu's/masters that KNOW, but DON'T KNOW how to explain it to others. This one KNOWS and KNOWS HOW TO TEACH AND EXPLAIN. This is very important to students too. Good videos, good explanations!

  • He's speaking English like a Chinese person.

  • I Like !

  • i can see the words “馮氏詠春” on the T-shirt,who is your master?

  • @klsuperman The name of his master is Sifu Jim Fung, from the Chu Shong Tin lineage,

Respect from UK's Chu Shong Tin Class!! William Lai!! :]

  • what is the rotation they are talking? do you rotate de joints?

  • its got something to do with nim lik ( power of focused mind, or whatever u wanna call it) and body structure. rotate the hips forward, back straight plling the spine up. i also no sure how things work. intereting..

  • Really, really good!

  • wow so that's what soft power is.

you hear about it all the time if you watch a lot of martial arts videos.

    (user uploaded and such)

  • Seems like a nice guy, expressing what should be basic gung fu skills. Structure and relaxation are essential teaching in all Chinese martial arts. I am not sure why they been forgotten in the west, maybe most people want to learn and practice moves. Standing still and relaxed in your stance wont impress the ladies but it will give you the foundation to build your wing chun skills. Without balance, without control of your body, what can you do?

  • @primeray Some places still train that, outside of Chinese martial arts. If you're tense, you'll telegraph your movements while wearing yourself down faster. In all the styles I've taken, they taught us to relax, watch your footwork, and keep your hands up (which is essentially working on your stance)

  • @primeray Well said. That is why I greatly admire Chinese martial arts. It is an art that has been greatly developed over the hundreds of years that integrates both culture and effective combat applications.

  • Relaxing and breaking an opponents structure like that seems so hard. I know it has something to do with mind intent or mind power. But what does he mean by rotation or rotate and what did he mean by "if you apply your movements from your form in your technique you should feel no change"? Help?

  • @nirpal24 He mean's whether you are practicing a movement duribg form or on a resisting person you should feel no difference in your structure. It should feel the same. You may feel the person hit your arm or body and feel there force but it should not affect your structure as if you were doing the form. As for the rotation stuff i have heard tony try and explain it many times but i still cant wrap my head around it.

  • i use to train there a few years ago..i remember this guy..hes very good at wing chun!

  • this is fantastic! Chu Shong Tins wing chun is so advanced, and all the better for it!

    im very, very impressed

  • it seems almost unreal i dont understand how he get the power to put that man's hand down... it's interesting

  • what power does he need? he has his bodyweight. I've never heard of anyone that could deal with 70 or so kgs dropped into their hands????

  • yep i dont understand what he does or how?

  • super demo about the one and only truth. i wish there was a step by step method for learning that kind of relaxation.

  • Actually he is not revealing the whole truth, its not just relaxation. Watch where he stands when he demonstates what not to do and where he stands when he really applies himself. Just remember this is a demo to impress. There is a lot where he is not explaining, its rather like saying you can stand on eggs, its a science yet some say its down to chi !!!

  • @kungfucritic Haha, not really man. It is all about proper structure, proper body alingment, relaxing your muscles and not tensing the shoulders and keep your elbows pointing down. Never allow your shoulders to go up or to pop, or by any means tense up. I study Wing Chun here in Mexico. My Sifu does this nonetheless where the point of contact is. In any direction without special positioning or footwork or a special way or place to stand up. I also can do this things. Greetings from Mexico.

  • An example of a great martial artist, skill, humility, humour, knowlegde and respect.

  • Makes me want to go to australia for a summer...

  • Can someone tell me who this Sifu is?

He's a REAL WING CHUN MAN!

  • He is Chief Instructor Tony Psaila, one of the seven Chief Instructors at Grandmaster Jim Fung's International Wing Chun Academy in Australia.

  • Yeah...he's my uncle!!!

  • Hey Tony remember to not forget to point your finger to the moon or you will miss all that heavenly glory ;)

    cya soon

    Beacon nose!

  • hey u got dat frm bruce lee

  • Yes correct! I can say that to him. He's family :-)

  • hey, bro. r u from WSL lineage? haha i noticed from ur quote. and ur right about that. some people are just too focused about one thing and forget their main goal. peace

  • Who is this brilliant sifu? The only question I 'd have for him is to first comment on him being a genius. I've been a grappler for many years 1st in bjj as well hapkido and now W/C and I've never seen anything like that before. Question could this technique be used on a rear naked choke?

  • As long as there is a contact point regardless of where it is you can break the persons structure. structure supports all of the opponents techniques.

  • Great explanation!

  • tony tony tony.... i know you will see this

    Jason

  • Hey bigfella, I jsut reread the email I sent you, Holy mackeral Im reaaly tired and I made heaps of grammatical errors. Really sorry mate if you have trouble understanding please tell me and I'll send it off again I think you will understand it though. OK then cheers

  • yeah ledgohan I agree, cuts thru a lot of the weird stuff and the macho posturing and shows one of the most fundamental ideas involved

  • finally a demonstration of real wing chun on youtube. I'm glad to know that this knowledge is being transmitted in other lineages too.

  • Very interesting
