What a great commentary on the role of perception in the sale of intangible services: "As soon as you are perceived as a local, you are compensated as a local." Wow, that goes for authors, consultants, speakers, athletes, poets, musicians and more. It's sad, because that removes some of the camaraderie that comes with having a vibrant local community. But it's an important business lesson.
