I used to sit at the edge of the base and watch them land.. and yes sometimes they do get quite sideways.. somehow the wheels auto align to keep them straight on the runway.

They don't auto align. The aircrew has to turn the crosswind crab manually to the proper angle.

yeah I lived in Bossier City La USA home of the Mighty 8th air force.. packed full of these babies... the most impressive plane you will ever see fly... they are huge they can maneuver pretty darn well for their size and they're really not all that slow....I miss watching them fly :*(
