Wow. Look at you all. Trying to team-up against me, watch each other's back that kind of thing? You guys are taking the game too seriously and defending him like he's a real life character. Yeah it was shit that he died but crying over him? Writing him memorial letters? I can't even describe how sad that is and how pathetic that really is. I honestly don't think that you guys realise how sad it is. Crying over John? Crying yourselves to sleep? Why can't you guys see how freaking sad that is? Wow
@OmsoiTekken Whats sad is that you're a heartless child, that cannot appreciate the little things in life. A good story grabs the reader, and attaches the reader to the characters.
For example, in Ace Combat 5 (anyone who has played that game should agree) when Chopper dies, the whole point is for YOU to feel as though you now have a void inside you. RDR is no different. And by the way, we aren't teaming up against you. You just insulted everyone now it's coming back at you.
doesn't matter if he's real or not, fact is rockstar told a hell of a story and made the characters memorable and gave life to them. same thing applies to a good movie or good fictional book, both which can bring up emotion if something dramatic happens in them.
@KurtZisa101 What so you think it's perfectly normal for someone to cry themselves to sleep and write a memorial letter to a virtual character because they died IN A GAME?
I may be missing the point but that's just FUCKING SAD!
This game got me the closest to crying I have ever been playing a video game thanks to this song. This song fit the scene perfectly, because every time I hear it I remember John and become somewhat depressed. But then he became a zombie and everything was just fine.
All the people saying to grow a pair about crying to a video game, if you didn't realize, game grow hugely over time. And a lot can even be like movies, and movies make people cry, so why not games too? Thats the way I see it anyway.
I agree that John Marston is one bad-ass motherfucker of a character. But you guys need to get a grip. Crying yourselves to sleep? - It's a fucking game.
The storyline was also fucking awesome but you guys need to grow a pair.
@OmsoiTekken Im not a fucking faggot. And you are a fucking troll if you have the balls to go on this video and say some shit like that. It may just be a game. But it is a game that means alot to us. And just because we a have some tears coming out of our eyes makes us faggots? It may just be a game but its sad the way it ends. If you truly love this game you would have the same feeling as i do. Now get off this video if your just going to be a fucking dick. Get a life and get off your computer.
@MrColp88 And I don't 'truly love this game' - I don't get feelings for virtual objects. You might however.
I wasn't being a 'troll' - I just find it extremely sad that people would cry themselves to sleep because the main character died at the end. I also find it extremely sad that you wrote some kind of message out to John saying shit and then at the end 'Beloved Father And Husband' - You're acting like he's dead in real life.
@MrColp88 Oh and another thing; maybe gaming is taking over your life and you're starting to develop feelings for virtual characters in a fantasy word. If so, there is a lot of people who can help you. I'm being serious. You should NOT be getting feelings and crying over some dude in a game.
@OmsoiTekken I can have feelings for whatever i want. The game is not taking over my life, i'm just a person who is hurt easily, and yes it may just be a game character, but sense when was there a law where we could not have feelings for someone in a virtual world. The ones who do have feelings for him are true gamers unlike you. I am not trying to insult you, but i just don't know how all these people here have feelings for him and you don't. You must just not have the gamers heat.
@OmsoiTekken Hey i almost cried when john died.He was a good character in the game.If you accually played the game it had a good storyline.and the end was sad because he died protecting his family. So yeah go play wow or something and stop trolling asshole.
@knox1st I did follow the storyline. He was a great character but I wouldn't go as far as crying myself to sleep because he died. You people need to get over the fact that he's VIRTUAL. Not real. As 'real' as he may seem, he's not. He's a virtual character who made you guys cry yourselves to sleep because he died. Now that's fuckin' SAD.
You guys are a bunch of sad bastards who get attached and start getting feelings for virtual characters instead of a real person.
@knox1st I admit that the storyline was brilliant and John was a very realistic, Four-Dimensional character who shouldn't have died. Even so, you don't need to cry about it. Like everyone else has said who has a life, he's VIRTUAL!
@masyaf456 If you read my comment it said almost cried but didn't.it was a very nice realistic plot for a game.I was dissapointed that he died but didn't cry.
@OmsoiTekken You must be one of those uninformed gamers who skipped the cutscenes to get back to running people over with a horse. Unlike you, some of us appreciate a game's storyline and feel a connection with the protoganist. We ARE John Marston. People cry at movies all the time, except there's some connection with the hero in games.
@SuperFly8anzai No way did I just skip the cutscenes. I just think it's sad that you people cry over a virtual character when he died IN-GAME and you act like he died in real life. You ARE John Marston? Dude... I don't think I need to speak any further. That's just down-right SAD.
@OmsoiTekken And yet it is perfectly normal for someone to cry over a book or a movie? They are fictional charcters that people constantly complain and debate on forums whether or not there "death" was justified. It is literally the same thing with games. Did I cry? No. Did I feel something? Yes.
@SuperFly8anzai No sorry bro. One of you guys said you cried yourself to sleep because Marston died. There's too many people "teaming-up" on me so I don't know who said it now. I don't believe it was you anyway.
@OmsoiTekken Teaming up on you? Hahaha, you are hilarious in a way. And yes I may agree with you on some points but most of what you said is fucking stupid. If people like this game and feel sad over a fictional character, so fucking what? I hope you don't go on like this in the real world or some day you might just get beaten when you talk too big. isn't there anything else that deserves hate more than this? Holy shit you're dumb.
@OmsoiTekken So what if he's not real? You know you come up with a great story when you come up with engaging character that people can connect with. And with that whole crying themselves to sleep comment; I'm pretty sure they were just exaggerating. It's the internet; you should learn to take almost everything with a with a pinch of salt here.
True men are unafraid to express their feelings on a matter. At times, it is necessary to ignore them, but this is not one of those times. Stories are meant to be indulged in.
If you weren't impacted to that extent by the story, cool. But, criticizing others because they weren't as callous is to suggest that they shouldn't have felt attached to the characters just because it isn't real.
this is the only game i have ever played and still continue to play in which you feel an actual connection to the lead character...i don't know how they did it..but this game is certainly in my top 3 games of all time!
I know I wanted to see how many of you would still play it. I have played the campaign 5 times over and im going for a sixth time. Just cant get enough.
when i first started playing games, i played assassin's creed II, and i thought i would never find a better game, until my sister bought red dead redemption. this game is so amazing i cant even put it into good enough words, and i havent even finished it! but when i found out that john marston dies, i would already be sobbing slightly and when i watched how he dies on here, i cried until i fell asleep :( i don't even know how im going to react when i finish this game..
If they ever did make a movie who do you think would be able to pull off Marston's part? Rockstar no question have the potential to pen a damn good movie if they ever considered it!
Red Dead Redemption has one of the most compelling and well written plots out of any video game I've played from its beginning to end with an incredible array of characters. I think the story, the characters, and the voice actors along with the soundtrack created an world we were all sucked into and that's probably why John's dead had so much impact. If something happens in a story and we actually care then it means the story is well told.
Funny how back when color movies just began to come out. They were so much better.
Now that they have all of the modern technology to help. The idea of a RDR movie would be awesome. Problem is, nobody can make a decent movie anymore.
i´ve seen how it end, i play it. and after it i get sad, i think i cry. because how every thing ends for every body in the game in know they don´t exist, but still i felt sadness.
is amazing how games can make you feel emotion, this is a prove that games are art, you said i cry in Titanic, i say i cry at the end of red dead redemption some thing that never happend. lets just say i like the game and R.I.P. John marston 1873-1911 Beloved Father And Loving Husband. and F$% you Edgar Ross and Seth
I am truly great full that rockstar made this game. I dont think a game has ever made me feel quite like this. Simply listening to a song strikes such amazing memories of an amazing game that i actually start to tear up. Thank you Rockstar. And thank you John Marston
my brother and me agreed that this game ended differint then we thought since westerns the hero rides off in the sunset on his/her mount peacefully and happy not sad and six feet in the ground but i still loved the game and the ending of the game since it was worth it
@tubifer Thats what we expect a happy ending, but the reality is,there are no happy endings for a man like this, intentions pure and loving,he will still die like this but he died the way he swore to,by his gun,and he was avenged.
This such a good song. I played this while I sleepe:( lemme just say SADDEST THING EVER. I look away and hes dead :( R.I.P. John Marston You will be missed by many .
To everyone crying at the end of RdR, I strongly urge you all to play through Metal Gear Solid. That game has brought me to tears so many times. Not that RdR isn't a great game.
@TraGicJohnson49 It doesn't matter what personality he has or what his voice sounds like. The only thing that matters is if he keeps the Marston family name going. And if you just think about it they are pretty much exactly the same no difference at all.
@TraGicJohnson49 Saying Jack sucks is saying John sucks because that young man is johns very flesh and blood.... Its his son as you know both of them are badass
It was indeed sad when John died, though it's crazy to say that he didn't deserve it. Don't get me wrong, I loved his character but he still needed to atone for the crimes he committed prior to the events in RDR. Ross was merciful enough to allow him to spend enough time with his family in which to sustain if even a modicum of peace. However, I'll say it's bittersweet that Jack had to turn a gun on Ross. He looked at his gun and realized that he had become a monster.
@robloxianrecords199 It happens as if he doesn't die. He lives at Beecher's Hope with his family when Uncle comes in, infected, and in short gets his family infected. He hogties them and goes out to find a cure. At the end of the game, John's in his grave, but someone starts the curse again and it shows John rising from the grave, a zombie, but because he was buried with something special, he has a soul and whatnot.
@robloxianrecords199 It is spossed to take place after he meets his family and before he gets shot. And after he dies in the main storyline he rises from the grave at the end of Undead Nightmare. But most people think its is a alternate timeline because uncle dies as a zombie instead in the final firefight and other reasons.
I am a 23 year old man and i had gotten so into this game that at the ending i cried. Can you imagine that? A grown man crying over a game. The ending was just so sad. And as im lisenting to this song i have tears coming out of my eyes. Why would you do that Rockstar? Make one of the greatest, coolest, strongest and most badass person you ever put into one of your games, And just let him die like that? R.I.P John Marston 1873-1911 Beloved Father And Loving Husband.
@MrColp88 He would have died most likley another way like it or not. He died with his boots as some would say. He made decisions. Decisions that had consequences. And he alone had to face them. He faced his consequences like he solved everything else. Alone, open arms, and a gun in his hand. Taking out corrupted government officials. He died a true peace maker.
@MrColp88 emotional and better story then any hollywood movie in recent history, the cinematics and story of this game piss all over holly wood, thats how good the stroy is in this game.,
@MrColp88 You can tell why they made him die, To make this the best game. Emotions, Fun, And Sadness and i get tears while listening to this song and i am being buried to this song , John Marston RIP Outlaws to the End, Loved Father , Loving Husband
@OmsoiTekken At your request: you're simple minded. You didn't engage with the story on the same level that others did. No need to be a little bitch about it.
I have to say, this was one of the most saddening games I have ever played. It was also one of the very best games out today, played through the story around 4 times and I absolutely love every moment of it. Rockstar really did an amazing job with this game, can't wait for GTA IV. You can always count on Rockstar for an amazing storyline.
@guitarb3ast7x You mean GTA 5? Yeah. But Rockstar have held back a bit on the cheats and that annoyed me. I like battering thru the campaign to open up the map to make up my own games in single player.
The Good The Bad and The Ugly is my favorite movie so this game is a Godsend. But killing John ?
I cried when John died. I cried when I beat the final assignment as Jack. When the credits started rolling...I just...it's an experience I'll never forget. Red Dead Redemption must be the game I am the most proud to have beaten, and also the one I regretted the most. Why? Because I didn't want it to end.
i know im not the only one that played that mission over and over trying to kill ross. course i also bitched that john took down armies and killed more men than the firing squad that took him down. if only the game let you stay in the bar and take down the soldiers like normal john wouldn't have died. course then you gotta think how would john die. if you did kill ross the army would just keep coming after you and john would be on the run for the rest of his life.
@roboffroad so i can see where they ended it like that john did it to save his family from being forced into the life of running its a shame that Ross wouldnt keep to his word and leave John and his family to live peacefully. that should have been and alternative ending if john did change his ways and did walk the virtuous path. and the criminal would have gotten this ending
I think when we get to know someone so well that does things for the good and for his family and people around him. We all are a little touched by his death and the song brings out the real emotion of his death.
The song completed the game. Amazing game. Deserves an 12 out of 10. It felt like as soon as you thought you killed the past of John Marston, he knew that he would died with his past. That you could not run away from it. And he said that he believed everything happens for a reason, and that his past made him, and he could never run away from it, and it does not matter if he was with his family, his past would always be there, and he died with it even though the whole game was him running from it
Assassins Creed,Red dead, and Mass effect are the three games that im really attached to.I thought about trading them in at gamestop, then I said..."NO STUPID YOU FOOL"!!!
Okay First of all my friend put the comments but red dead was a amazing game but if someone dies in real life your torn apart i know this for a fact and i think if you can cry over a game then you are a weak or overly emotion person
@The101Courier I've seen three murders, nine deaths in total. some were close friends and family. I only cried for one of them. The fact that this game made me well up astonishes me.
What john did was cery noble he knew it waz either him or his family wud die Thats true courage rite ther plus u get ur vengeance later XD but lets see what red dead revolution will be like
the best game i´ve ever played. the end was so sad and i cryed when he died.

@SaltyChickenBallsx why? there are so many great westerns that this is based on.. :P

@SaltyChickenBallsx dumbass, this game IS a movie.
DeesingDude 1 week ago
@SaltyChickenBallsx The way movies are today, they would shame this game.
Funny how back when color movies just began to come out. They were so much better.
Now that they have all of the modern technology to help. The idea of a RDR movie would be awesome. Problem is, nobody can make a decent movie anymore.

my brother and me agreed that this game ended differint then we thought since westerns the hero rides off in the sunset on his/her mount peacefully and happy not sad and six feet in the ground but i still loved the game and the ending of the game since it was worth it
tubifer 1 month ago
@tubifer Thats what we expect a happy ending, but the reality is,there are no happy endings for a man like this, intentions pure and loving,he will still die like this but he died the way he swore to,by his gun,and he was avenged.

@TraGicJohnson49 It doesn't matter what personality he has or what his voice sounds like. The only thing that matters is if he keeps the Marston family name going. And if you just think about it they are pretty much exactly the same no difference at all.
MrColp88 1 month ago

If hes dead then when does Undead Nightmare take place?
robloxianrecords199 1 month ago
@robloxianrecords199 It happens as if he doesn't die. He lives at Beecher's Hope with his family when Uncle comes in, infected, and in short gets his family infected. He hogties them and goes out to find a cure. At the end of the game, John's in his grave, but someone starts the curse again and it shows John rising from the grave, a zombie, but because he was buried with something special, he has a soul and whatnot.
thekraken57 1 month ago
@thekraken57 John rises from his grave because he was buried with holy water.
MrGiantenemycrab 1 month ago
@robloxianrecords199 It is spossed to take place after he meets his family and before he gets shot. And after he dies in the main storyline he rises from the grave at the end of Undead Nightmare. But most people think its is a alternate timeline because uncle dies as a zombie instead in the final firefight and other reasons.
MrGiantenemycrab 1 month ago
@robloxianrecords199 .. Undead nightmare is before he died when he became a zombie it was a few years before he died

MsCheesefarts 1 month ago
@MrColp88 He would have died most likley another way like it or not. He died with his boots as some would say. He made decisions. Decisions that had consequences. And he alone had to face them. He faced his consequences like he solved everything else. Alone, open arms, and a gun in his hand. Taking out corrupted government officials. He died a true peace maker.

I have to say, this was one of the most saddening games I have ever played. It was also one of the very best games out today, played through the story around 4 times and I absolutely love every moment of it. Rockstar really did an amazing job with this game, can't wait for GTA IV. You can always count on Rockstar for an amazing storyline.
guitarb3ast7x 1 month ago
@guitarb3ast7x You mean GTA 5? Yeah. But Rockstar have held back a bit on the cheats and that annoyed me. I like battering thru the campaign to open up the map to make up my own games in single player.
The Good The Bad and The Ugly is my favorite movie so this game is a Godsend. But killing John ?

I cried when John died. I cried when I beat the final assignment as Jack. When the credits started rolling...I just...it's an experience I'll never forget. Red Dead Redemption must be the game I am the most proud to have beaten, and also the one I regretted the most. Why? Because I didn't want it to end.

i know im not the only one that played that mission over and over trying to kill ross. course i also bitched that john took down armies and killed more men than the firing squad that took him down. if only the game let you stay in the bar and take down the soldiers like normal john wouldn't have died. course then you gotta think how would john die. if you did kill ross the army would just keep coming after you and john would be on the run for the rest of his life.
roboffroad 1 month ago
@roboffroad so i can see where they ended it like that john did it to save his family from being forced into the life of running its a shame that Ross wouldnt keep to his word and leave John and his family to live peacefully. that should have been and alternative ending if john did change his ways and did walk the virtuous path. and the criminal would have gotten this ending
