  • The hissing electronic sound only audible when the GPU is on full load, and its a brand new sapphire 6770. I have overclocked it to 850mhz, when the default is 775mhz. Is the sound anyway related to the overclocking?

  • ya i was trying to listen to what you were saying but my computer was squeeling lol

  • your ocz zx psu :D

  • hi man this tutorial is greate but i have bought power suppply and then i heard strange noise after i recorded from my mic so i taked the mic from my pc and put it into my lpatop and the noise is gone so what i showd do please do i shoud put a peice of wood under my pc or what and how to ground my pc thank you

  • Here's a riddle for you. Why is it that my PC makes an odd noise (possibly like you're talking about here) in Windows XP, but does NOT make that noise in Windows 7? It does it when I'm in Firefox, and as soon as I exit Firefox, it goes quiet.

  • great info, i had this problem on my monitor, a viewsonic! and then it failed and had to do service to fix it, they change the power suply, now i discover that i have the same noise coming out of my computer, and some times my system hangs and there is nothing i can do bot too turn it off and then on again..

I think i have to replace my power suply from my PC...

is it posible that my computer is hanging for this reason?

  • @gparada83 Doesn't sound like the PSU.

More like a software issue or a GPU (graphics card) issue.

  • they can also cause the computer to suddenly reboot

  • thnx 3dgameman for your great advise .

you really helped me find the problem.

  • i asked a RMA for the psu , since i clearly identified the noise is comming from there.

maybe with a new 1 ,it wont be as annoying while im gaming.

  • i got that problem too with my psu .

it makes a humming noise whenever i load a game.

and when video change, the high pitch changes too.

the grafics card is powered by the mobo.

do you think i need to buy a video card with seperate power connectors

or is the capacitor in the psu really busted i wonder.

im getting another card in the future anyways , but i hate to buy a new psu ,its brand new.

    (nexus rx 850w)

  • I get it on my gts 250 when turned on, sent it to where i bought it and they just said the fan as dirty, which it was, but it still does it at the same volume it before being cleaned...

  • This guy's voice reminds me of Casey Kasem.

  • or you could have just googl'd

  • I get it on my 5770 when Im playing games, and it makes the game crash

  • WHOA :O Ok, so I have a motherboard that's almost 8 years old. Is it the motherboard or is it the PSU? Because it can't be the PSU I've bought it few months ago...Also, the graphic card is fx5500, it's nothing...So what should I do? I cannot take it to the place where I bought it, because the whole god damn place broke up :S

  • What if it ALREADY exploded?

  • @nickanutCoOl Mate, you dont want to be next to a capacitor of 700w PSU when it explodes... :)

  • Lol. The banner thing makes him look like Geordi La Forge.

  • its my vibrator malfunctioning

  • Lol censored in the beginning

  • Hmm... on a few pages already I've read the same thing you told us on camera.

Having a noise emanating from one of my PCs, but not convinced it's the same noise people are describing on most of these web pages, I'd hoped to find a youtube user who, realizing the power of his chosen medium, would ACTUALLY PROVIDE AN EXAMPLE OF THIS SOUND.

    (I.e., thanks for nothing)

  • I have a P55A-UD3 and all the capacitors are good quality ones. However, under simulated full load (IBT, Prime95) the capacitors near the CPU buzz quietly. Should I be worried about this? I've had this system for nearly a month now and it's been very stable and quick so far and I've pushed the buzzing issue out of my mind, but I want to keep this PC for a long time and therefore don't want it to blow up in a few months time.

  • Lots of people say the noise is harmless, just too much power for gpu capacitors, because nvidia uses old capacitors (or coils...) but when you said it can explode... that sounded very creepy

  • I have the computer in my room and I can hear the noise from the kitchen -_-

  • thanks

    my hd4870 x2 makes that

but i can go rma is far away

the Electronic Buzzing makes it only in games

    is this normal?

  • Yes, from what I have experienced with 4870 x2 systems, it is normal for that video card to make coil noise. If it makes you feel better, my old MSI Neo-2 motherboard makes coil noise when I play certain games and perform CPU intensive things, like encoding video, and it never crashes or anything of that sort. In short: should be fine.

  • hi again thanks for replying

i was wondering if gtx 285 is better

    from hd 4870 x2 thank!s

  • The 4870 x2 will outperform a GTX285 in most games if you use screen resolutions above 1680x1050, with AA and AF enabled. The 4870 x2's second GPU will help a lot when high anti-aliasing and antistrophic filtering are in use, particularly in high resolutions applications, with greater use of the 2GB GDDR5s bandwidth. The only issue is feeding the 4870 x2 sufficient power. There is nothing worse than your system shutting off due to an overheated PSU when you increase the screen resolution!

  • how i check if my psu is enough power

i ve got two psu the first is thermaltake 850w

and the other is on 5.25 bay thermaltake 450w i dont remember the models, for a future 4870 x2

is this enough for a second 4870 x2 thanks!

  • I did not know there were 5.25 bay PSUs. Insane... AMD/ATI recommends the Thermaltake Toughpower XT 850AP W0224 (850W) PSU. So, if your power supply is that model, you should be set up for XFire once you get the second 4870 x2. Happy gaming, and let me know if you need any more help.

  • I have the same thing on my 4870x2 when playing high demanding 3D games.

  • Mate, thanks alot your a nerd, in a good way, and I will check it out.

  • My modular PSU whine when I run ATITool and play Crysis

  • dont worry it only explodes! lol

  • @prankmypants haha lol

  • damn that helped a loot ,thanks,my gpu makes that noise im going to get replacement :) .

  • Well. Obviously the squeeling noise...

  • except Gigabyte or MSI don't manufacture caps...

the only reason Gigabyte are better is that they use solid state caps... it would help if the board overall was better TBH, the best mobo manufacturers ATM are DFI and ABit, and seeing as ABit is leaving the mobo scene, that just leaves DFI as THE decent manufacturer...

    Cap manufacturers: interfacebus(dot)com/capacitor(dot)html

  • was in response to ramu50...

    i fail at comments :P

  • Then why do I have the same problem with an MSI maindboard? :P

  • never heard that a capacitor could make noise coils on the other hand is a whole other story :)

and i don't think store's will trade hardware with this type of error because like u mentioned it won't affect the system

    Greetz B0B0

  • I'd just like to say that I had this problem (buzzing from 790i) but it wasn't broken or anything, it was shorted.

Just check you have only got as many risers as you need because they short other wise, the 3 in the middle that are close together and make an L shape are a real bummer, they got me and I nearly RMA'd

Just check for shorts and if that doesn't work try it out of the case on some anti-static paper. Otherwise send it back on warranty.

    Glad to help.

  • my old CRT monitor made a squeeling noise for a long time after my brother stuck a powerful magnet next to it. it also went all the colours of the rainbow for a week of degaussing. lol. my speaker's amplifier did too, it had overheated and was full of leaky capacitors. only other thing i have that squeeled is a 40mm fan going at 6000RPM.

  • Can you handle my channel?...

  • Excellent!

  • The cheap powersupply that came with my old case would make a squealing noise, So I took it back and got a decent EnLight one and that did it aswell, just not as bad. But I got a UPS a few months ago, it hasnt done it since then.

Maybe it likes the cleaner power from the UPS?

  • cant u make a test of the "antec 900"?? plz

  • He's done that, check his videos ^^ Great case btw.

  • Rodney thx a lot for answer me! :D I will buy a corsair 550w vx... seventeam don`t have the same qualit as the corsair!

  • Thanks 3DGAMEMAN.

  • dude what happended to antec 1200 review?

  • nice.. i dont have that problem(thank goodness)

  • i have a squealing cap on my P5K.

  • omfg i just broke my head set.. great...my headset is officially mono now :(

  • I always wondered why my old crt tv did that, I'll hunt that noise down and replace the capacitor! Thanks Rodney!

  • Thats more likely the UHF noise that some people can hear (I can too its annoying), it is sometimes the CRT design, the sound coming from the tube's redirecting magnets which can sometimes give off audible noise.

  • This.

Just about all CRT TV screens make that high pitch noise.

  • and the morral of the story is; dont but chinese made electronic proudcts that explode!

  • *don't buy low-quality chinese made electronic products that explode!

  • *dont buy anything that explodes!

and y r people dissing this guys comment?

  • Probably chinese people that take offense mentioning bad quality :P

  • Although it's nice that chinese products are often cheap (even though some days ago I bought a cheap chinese-made cycle rubber-tube, and the cycle valve was broken at arrival :P)

  • ROFL...99% of your PC is made in China dude, all parts of PC are made there, quality depends on brand and price range. Usually you don't get bad stuff from ASUS or MSI, for example.

  • lol, ASUS

    Gigabyte for the win

*is posting from my Eee PC*

    *facepalm*

The Eee PC is the only good thing ASUS have made.

  • nah, the nforce motherboards seem to be pretty cool. i've had 2, one of which was the very first desktop motherboard with heatpipes (P5N32-SLI SE deluxe + striker extreme). i don't like the intel motherboards so much though... from what i can see, intel's bonetrail reference boards for x38 and x48 are the best anyway, only problem is intel reference bios is user-unfriendly to the degree of an AT PC.

  • Yeah, but the newer nForce chipsets are plagued with FSB holes where its just won't boot at a whole range of FSB speeds when overclocking. I'd choose stability over a slightly more user friendly BIOS configuration interface.

  • you obviously don't know / have forgotten what it's like to stick an ISA card in an intel 486. lol. (that's just intel reference boards that have an unfriendly bios, not all boards with intel chipsets)

  • Hah, I remember the first soundcard our family bought back in 1993; an absolutely MASSIVE (Bigger than a HD3870X2!) ISA Creative Soundblaster AWE 16 bit. installed than on an old MSI AT Socket 5 baord with EDO RAM DIMMs and a top of the line Pentium 100MHz CPU. Sorry, kind of misunderstood your comment. Thought you meant Intel Chipset based motherboards in general, which makes no sense XD wasn't the i486 a CPU tho? Then you had 5Volt Socket 1,2 or 3 motherboards?

  • yeah, I had a SoundBlaster 16 ISA card. Had to mess around in BIOS and configure every card in setup.exe for every programme I bought. I can't remember anything about the motherboard though other than it was an AT form factor and a 486 processor set.

  • ivefantrance: ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte are from Taiwan. Taiwanese people don't consider themselves being part of China, or do they?! IIRC Taiwan has it's own government.

  • I know that, but that's the brand. They are still made in factories from China since the labor is cheaper. Look at your mobo/video card's box, even if it's from ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte etc, MADE IN CHINA somewhere.

  • Thats what concerns me "made in china" on my video card. And has this squealing issue. You can possibly imagine how they are been handled to bring them from e.g China to Europe. They could have been fine when they have been made, but damaged on the way..

  • Also, ever wondered why China always gets the first samples of newest cards like, HD4870x2 before everyone else?

  • oh sorry little chinese slaves, back to work!!

  • lol?

  • lol

  • iv had two Nvdia card that have buzzed i took the first one back got a band new one and that one did the same and died so went back to ATI and never had this problem

  • I have one of those in an older CRT television.Infact, this is what I thought it was.I can't really return it,but if the capacitor does blow,Well,I have other ones.

Anyways, thanks 3DGameman for backing me up on that.

  • Explode? :(

  • Nice clock. Recorded at about 9:55 I see.

  • haha

  • Buy video cards/motherboards with solid capacitors, they won't burst and they are much more reliable.

Electrolyte capacitors(those which can burst) usually have an X or K mark on it, and they are wrapped in plastic. Solid capacitors have full aluminum case.

  • the clothes are just fine, why do you even give a shit about what another man is wearing unless.....

  • hahaha that made me laugh like shit CrdBrd that was funny as fuck. haha

  • and thank you defyance! is that supposed to be a fucking gamertag or psn? get off fucking youtube, or get a new account name.

  • k umm wtf i was laughing cause you said sumthing funny and was telling you that you did..and you be a asshole..your probably sum 12 yr thats pissed off that his dad beats everyday fuck you i was just laughing at a joke you made..but seriously your a fucking fag fuck you

  • or if your capasitors are bad REPLACE THEM!

i geting a 19inch monitor for free! its so simply to fix i just took it appart found 3 caps leaked and now im going to tesk the acrylic fuse with a ohmeter

  • if my cell phone is near by, sometimes it cause a weird noise. e.g. moments before i receive a text message.

  • happens to me sometimes and in the car. lol probably a strong cellphone lol. i have blackjack 2

  • I bought an evga motherboard from Tigerdirect and the shipping toke so long that by the time I got it and noticed the squealing noise Tigerdirect would no longer replace it. I talked to evga and they said they would replace it but I would have to pay shipping both ways (which was around $160 as I am in Canada). I can buy a new motherboard for that price! eventually they said they would pay both ways :D. My advice is stay away from TigetDirect. I use DirectCanada a lot and have had no problems.

  • I actually never ended up sending in my motehrboard because I didn't want to go through the hassle of taking everything apart and this was the time Crysis and COD4 just came out and I couldn't wait for shipping to the USA and back to Canada. That would of probably taken over a month and i wanted to play Crysis and COD4 ASAP.

  • the worst thing is that it could explode lol

  • Keep your answers coming Rodney, these videos were a great idea

  • Explode???

  • OR soder a new one

  • You said that it wont fail, but in the answer it says its defective. Typo or am i not understanding clearly?

  • haircut?

  • ccreeeeepy

  • nice video

  • kabooom, i tought computers/hardware couldent blow up? xD

  • I think the only really thing what could explode is the powerpack as it is like a electrical battery
