I actually won this car the other day in one of the B-spec races in GT5.

It's a gorgeous beast! It leaves all the exotics in the dust and can keep up with the race cars without a problem. It came almost fully upgraded, but I was able to bump up the HP to around 550. On long straights it can do well over 220 mph!

@78Sabre all that fancy wording, some misspelled btw, to say that creativity leads to ingenuity? so does necessity. all i started out saying is that i prefer a V8 to something that sounds like a weed wacker. this is a fast car, i never denied that, not do i take anything away from mazda. but the fact remains, for grunting, low-down torque, the only thing to beat a V8 is a diesel. and V8's are all but discredited anymore. they may be the ancestors of performance, but they still kick ass

V8's have always been dominant and have no turbo lag to worry about. and you must be referring to the V8's of the past because there are several on the road today that are well beyong 450 hp. (i wont mention the ones from the 60's and 70's, it'd be unfair) revs mean nothing if you can get the same power at lower rpm's. this concept toy is unproven and you have no room to knock V8's when they are legendary

@catf1sh1812 This engine is not really a new concept and the mazda 787b was the first and last LeMans car to employ a rotary engine, it was banned after 1 year due to an unfair power to wieght ratio advantage. The rotary is a beast on the race track because in addition to torque, lightwieght wins races. There are alot of factors that lend advantage to one engine setup or another but the Rotary definitly shines bright in motorsport... or it does when they let it on the track.

@hyperdrachen yeah, the rotary's been in the rx series for years. this car is the unproven concept i was mentioning....and a well-engineered V8 (anything recent by ford, chevy, and lately dodge believe it or not) with the same power to weight ratio as a rotary would be a good matchup....better initial torque (no turbo lag) and with similar hp ratings and weight, i'd put money on the V8. rotary is respectable tho, i'll give it that

@catf1sh1812 low end torque isn't very important in a car like this becuase it's going to driven around a track at high rpms. Torque doesn't win races, good driving wins races. v8s are the best for 1/4 miles no doubt though.

@kyleisreallycool i agree with everything u just said cept the torque thing. when going around a corner, if u got enough torque, upshifting and gassing it will keep acceleration while the high-rpm guy is winding up. just a thought for ya, its got me a few wins around town against S2000's and the bmw's and the like

@catf1sh1812 Hey dude i`m aussie mate and love the sound of a good V8 anyday but you gotta remember this is a triple rotor if I heard correct which is a 20b which means a 2 LITRE!!! Non Turbo with 415 hp!!! Sheesh give credit where its due man. Go and have a look at the video (Mazda Furai : Race track 5:08) and watch it leave the Porsche after 1 lap for dead. After that lap they told him not to use fourth so the Porsche could keep up to get better footage :-o .Also check out the 787B 4 Rotor....

@catf1sh1812 Speaking of legendary or unproven did you ever see the Nissan Skylines racing the V8`s? I think it was early 90`s? They handed the v8`s their arse on a plate that many times and so methodically that they banned them & changed the rules. I read an interveiw with the chief engineer about the weight handicapps they kept putting on them to slow `em down. He said "We`d just tune & tweak `em up a bit more" The words compete & championship weren`t spoken much in the V8 camps ha ha

Its an LMP race car but the rotary has not met homologation. Since Prodrive and Mazda tore up Le Mans with the 787B the engine has been banned, so still not to sure what they are going to do with it since they already have the LMP2 car the B09 86 Mazda, which is starting to win races. But hey, if they get it homologated that would be sweet to see run against the Audi and Peugeot diesels.

The Rotary was only outlawed from Group C because the FIA favored the 3.5L F1 Enginesand wanted to sway the teams to this new platform. Also, Prodrive didn't field Mazdas in 1991, Mazdaspeed did.
