I have to say that I based my negative judgement about DuVall's skills on the mic on one single live performance with AIC I saw months ago. He sucked major ass, but listening to Comes with the fall I have to say he got chops. Hoping he'll come up with something good on the new songs (composed with his tonal range and style in mind, not Layne's) I will give this guy all the support he deserves. Big shoes to fill, he sure has guts. AIC RULE!

Not bad. Guys give up hope on AIC just because of new singer. True, Layne had an amazing voice and it AIC will not be the same or as great without him. But can everyone stop assuming they are going to be horrible? AIC is not all about voices, I myself just love they're dark tunes and really just the music. I KNOW IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME WITHOUT LAYNE. But i'll probably pick up the new album and see how it is. If DuVall makes every song horrible, Well, then I will agree new AIC sucks.

I actually LIKE CWTF but i dont like him singing the AIC tunes...I really REALLY think they should have just changed the name of the band to Alice in bondage... or Thumper, or something. But DuVall isn't bad at all...it's just that Layne is irreplaceable. And William doesn't even come close to sounding like him.

i totally agree with shanejacobus. i don't think that CWTF is an original band. i don't like duvall's voice and his whole acting on stage. and i think that he's not that much of an original guitar player and he annoys me.

and yes,i am saying this as a multi-musician,as a singer,songwriter,DJane,guitar­- and bassplayer and drummer. plus i record and mix songs myself.

Duvall does an awesome job on the "old" AIC songs. He really paid attention to how Layne used his voice. I hope the "new studio album" blows up and they rocket back into the spotlight. AIC is one of my all time favorite bands. As for Comes with the Fall, unbreakable is the best song I've heard from them.

THAT's why the remaining AIC members picked him.

But DuVall's niche is definitely with CWTF.

With AIC he's just a frontman.

Duvall's tone is nothing like Staley's. AIC didn't do an exhustive search for a new singer. They didn't search at all. They just went with Duvall because Jer used him during his solo shows. They should've tried harder to find a more suitable singer.

deadviolets Actually I haven't heard much this band but this sounds pretty good too me this band is nice and listen to this guy his voice is great aswell but he dosen't seem this good with AIC much often because he obviously tries too hard to sound like Layne and sorry to inform you the there is a simularity in tone. Not the same voice though but he should sing in AIC as his normal voice too me it would be better. Unless he can learn how to deepn his voice alittle like Laynes but keep his range.

And it's nt hard to see why they picked him out this band has a simular sound grunge and metal mixed in but a soulfulness to it from the melodies from the guitar aswell as the vocals. If you don't like this how could you like AIC which overall has a southern hard grunge structure format. I admire Laynes presence in AIC and still love the music he was apart of and enjoy listening to AIC but you sound like the next AIC elitist looking over facts because you are putting emphasis only on Layne.
