Is it normal for these things to just explode out of nowhere? Mine has been sitting on top of my fridge for like 8 years and out of the blue it just explodes.
Class K Extinguishers are typically mounted on the wall in the path of egress in a kitchen, they are hand held. What you are talking about is a Kitchen Hood system, these use fusable links on a cable that runs in the hood above the appliances. There will also be a manual pull station located near the closest exit or path of egress and some systems have a button on the control head usually located above the bottle of fire suppressant. When the fusable link reaches a set temperature t
@lizmonique I'm not an expert, but from what I've been told, class K is mounted above stoves with a pull string, lever, button, etc, to release the chemical and put out a kitchen fire (in restaurants, schools, etc)
that paticular extinguisher may be good for ABC, but many are only good for BC, and some only good for D fires, so to state brodly that it works on ABC is misleading. Maby sugest them to look at the label and determin what class its good for.
Is the handle/lever plastic

Class BC wont do anything to an A fire which is probably the most common type of fire. Gotta have a class ABC.

buy ABC if you want to have a mess to clean up after extinguishing a fire. CO2 is the way to go.
