a panther is a black coated either leopard or jaguar

a cougar is the same thing as a puma

a bobcat is a type of lynx

kodkod, cougar(puma), and bobcats(lynx) arent big cats

You're right, they should do a Big cat weekly on jaguars or tigers too

Anybody else notice the difference between Africa's cats and Indias?? The ones in Africa seem fuller, more healthier & cleaner ...and I wonder why all the flies stick to a lions face like glue yet we rarely see them on the cheetahs?? I feel so sry for the lions w/ all those ticks and irratating flies :(

@bluepeas510 they don't come along until 2008 on big cat live. I think this is in 2004. they filmed Shakira with a cub called Duma in 2006 (but they didn't know it was Shakira at that time) and they said duma was the 1st cub out of 10 that she'd raised to adolescence.

I know that Kiko is bigger than the her cubs, but in other instances with big cats... how can he tell the difference?

@Munn2 Spot markings, every cheetah has a different.spot layout, coat colour can help identify too - Honey for example had a distinct Honey coloured coat. Jonathan would often sketch and photograph the cheetahs as he was following them so he had a reference to match up with the big cats later on, it is still a great method to ID them despite the technology saturated age. Having said that leopards can be a whole different ball game.

I love this show and i like Kike the most and her 3 cubs and this is my 3 week watching this show and i love cheetahs,lions,and jaguars. I think that they are so cool. I think you should do episode 5 because there is not one and say hi to the gang. : ) GO CATS!!

@peachxjamie Tigers and Jaguars do not reside in Africa, where Cheetah's, Lion's and Leopards do, more cats to film makes it the best choice for the show.

i remember last year i was obsessed with big cat diary it use to come on animal planet at 5 am before i went to work .. i loved it and when i found the series on youtube i watched the entire thing haha .. ive been lead to love the cheetahs .. and i miss kike and pray she isnt dead and is alive .. i know her cubs made it i think

I saw on Wikipedia that only the series from 2004 and later are available on DVD. Is there really no way to buy the previous seasons from when the show first started in 1996? I was thinking of buying the entire series for my mother for her birthday, she really loves this show.

I dont think she's dead thou....Jonathan said in the ending of the last episode that cheetahs roam in a very large landscape (even bigger than the lion's pride) and it's possible she's still out there somewhere but outside the mara. perhaps Tanzania.
