  • this film left me kinda dizzy, too good..

  • He is King of Kings in the movies.

  • Very nice movie, love the way De Niro fantasys in the start, about Jerry adoring his work. Nice ending to, Rupert never gave up, he got famous one way or the other:)

  • It's a 'great' movie don't get me wrong but to be saying that this is De Niro's best performance is just ridiculous. no way near his best performance.

  • Is this movie good or boring? not very famous.

  • @Searchinganswers I enjoyed it, one scene in particular is hilarious :P

  • Bad trailer, great movie.

  • "Better to be king for a night, than schmuck for a lifetime."

  • Just Saw This Today, Good Movie, Robert De Niro Did Great In This

  • who gives a fuck when the film came out,it's awesome,end of,ok?

  • De Niro's best performance.

  • Oh yeah, & Directed by 1 of my favorite movie directors Martin Scorsese.

  • Wow, both of my favorite acting legends in the same fucking movie. Jerry, & Robert. Never thought about them both being in the same film.

  • Reminds me a little of One Hour Photo.

  • Sounds erie & sad.

  • I'm always amazed how many people haven't even heard of this film, more so when you tell them it's one of De'Niros best performances ever..................

  • This movie is from 1983, not 1982, ok?

  • @therealkatero You want to talk about Cinema with me ? about Martin Scorsese ? Lol i don't think so mate . Ok?

  • @WorleyClarence He was just making an observation. The movie did come out in 1983, unless you count some random Icelandic release a few months before it hit the states.

  • @MyManD He was acting arrogant , i doubt he has more Cinema's culture than me . Yes , i count the first relase country which is Island and also the year the film was made . If a film is release in an other country before the US , it doesn't count ?

  • @WorleyClarence Sure it counts, but I think (my personal opinion) that a movie is generally regarded as coming "from" the year it's released wide in the country of its origin. Go to most any movie listing on IMDB or Wikipedia, and it'll show a movie's origin year according it its release in its originating country.

PS. I say "most", because in The King of Comedy's case, it switches between 1982 and 1983, though 1983 is the predominant year on most listings, be it DVD or movie listings site.

  • @MyManD On my Dvd the date is 1982 as well on IMDB . As you said , "it switches between 1982 and 1983" . It's true , for exemple , on the site : the 80's movies rewind , the date is 83 .

  • @WorleyClarence while you two are wrestling on the floor, arguing about films, I'm going to slap my cock in both of your faces. Now that's culture.

  • @WorleyClarence "Acting arrogant"? Dude, you're the one who saying "I know more about them movies than you do. Hahahaha!".

  • @WorleyClarence it came out in '83, hes right

  • @therealkatero

    Released in Iceland in 1982.

  • @therealkatero ^I hope you stay up at night, worrying about this.^

  • @therealkatero naa its from 1982 dumbass. lmaooo you're stupid ctfuuuu.

  • One of the few movies I have purchased..... BRILLIANT!!!!

  • I want to see this movie for the simple reason that.... I have no fucking idea what it is about, this trailer just left me <.<....

  • @Pekeno201 i know. This is how hollywood used to market their films. They'd leave you hanging and you'd actually want to see it! Now they just show you the entire thing in a 90 sec trailer and they wonder why we all refuse to pay to watch it :S

  • @venuecam Exactly, like per instance a recent trailer that just gets me so bad is "Super 8". It tells you you there is something big, very powerfull, possibly super natural, maybe a weapon, maybe an alien or a mutated beast or a robot? Lol What the fuck is in that train!!! That's how a trailer should be.

  • The King of Acting. And this is an eksampel. Great everything. Also one of Edward Nortons favorit movies.

  • I'm about 17 years old and ever since I saw Goodfellas, last year I decided to watch every movie done by Scorsese. And each movie I watch by Scorsese, just kept blowing my mind far far away i mean this guy is probably the best director in our time. Long live Scorsese.

  • @WayTooDazedConfus3d That's most likely because Scorsese's mind himself was blown due to all the drugs he did when coming up with some of films. If you're a reader, read through "Easy Riders and Raging Bulls" by Peter Biskind, you'll learn about Scorsese and all of Hollywood in the 70s, when shit was really going down.

  • @DukemisMaximus Oh I knew that he did cocaine back then because I remember reading somewhere about his concert film "The Last Waltz" he quoted that he did massive amounts of cocaine. Also when they were filming the backstage area Neil Young had a huge coke blob on his nose so he cut that out of the film. It doesn't really matter to me, I mean it's his life doing hard drugs and I'm glad he gave up on it. And I'll check out that book, does it also mention one of my favorite movies, Easy Rider?

  • @WayTooDazedConfus3d Why yes, yes it does.

  • Rupert Pupkin - arguably more terrifying than Travis Bickle.

    Best thing Scorsese ever did.

  • Scorsese got more out of DeNiro in this film than any of their other collaborations. The film was seminal, not easy to access, and remains a high point in black humor cinema.

  • I love that the movie is so bad the advertising company just repeats the names of the actors TWICE and barely touches on the story. Not to mention, am I really supposed to find it funny that everyone keeps messing up his name? Maybe that would be funny if I was in first grade.

  • @robotpanda77 you're probably a kid, you're used to the entire storyline being layed out on the trailer so infact you don't even need to see the movie to know the story or the ending.

Didn't used to be like that kid.

  • @eveningniteshade You are prob a idiot. This trailer is so vague because the advertising company had no idea how to market it. Look at the trailer for "Taxi Driver" which is from the same period. It is far more revealing. I agree that trailers that give things away are annoying, but the marketing company is only interested in filling the seats, even if that means spoiling it.

  • Is this movie any good? massive fan of all of scorsese's work except for mean streets which was pretty slow

  • @deval1988 You should see it. If for nothing else, to see Scorsese's cameo. :)

  • Is there a full version of The Jerry Langford Show theme available anywhere?

  • The one thing it is NOT is a comedy...........its a psycological drama about an obsessed and high strung out of work comedian who has delusions about filling Lewis's shoes. Martin Scorcese tells the story of a man in denial, and the lengths he is prepared to go to fullfill his dream.

  • somebody please tell me where i can find this streaming. it looks amazing!

  • I'm getting this from Netflix this week, I've been waiting the last two years for the next Martin Scorsese picture ("Shutter Island" which come out this friday!). ; ) I possess more and more of an interest in seeing more of Scorsese's work particularly in the 1980s (his most experimental work technically and subjectively). I also want to see "THe Last Temptation of Christ".

  • Shutter Island was awesome! I saw it last night and I think I'm still having a bit of mind-rape syndrome.

  • it was a really awfull movie, the worst I've seen from scorsese.

  • this movie is great i can watch it all day

  • This movie creeped the hell out of, in a way that only Robert DeNiro and Martin Scorsese movies can.

  • Did you realy enjoyed that film? I don´t know, I saw it and I think it´s De Niro´s worst film. And I think he is the best actor

  • What a brilliant teaser trailer. Of course, I'm already interested in seeing this because I always wanted to see a Scorsese comedy.

  • its not quite a comedy. The trailer is horrible. Its a great drama and it has that scorsese feeling in which it leaves you thinking about it after you've seen it. It leaves an impression I should say. I wouldn't go in expecting to laugh out loud. You may get quite a few chuckles from the dark comedy. But I feel its a great drama above all. In fact this movie is hard to categorize in my mind. Its really good. Its my favorite scorsese movie. My only gripe is you want really hard to sympathize

  • with the main character. You feel kind of bad sympathizing with him, but you also feel bad for not sympathizing with him. Its a complicated feeling. Its like you don't hate him, but you know its wrong to like him. I don't know does anyone else feel that way. I guess its kind of the same thing with Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver. See at least in Raging Bull you felt justified in hating the main character. I mean admit it people, Jake Lamotta was a selfish douche of a human being. In this one he's

  • he's selfish sure, but he's also well meaning and a pretty good guy despite some obvious flaws.

  • This is one of the most fascinating performances by DeNiro, such a frustrating, compelling loser. The only other one like it is Sean Penn's role in "The Assasination of Richard Nixon"

  • @hiitsmewutsup09 u've a gr8 test and gr8 comment.

  • This is a great film. It is so creepy and awkward. But that is what makes it so wonderful.

  • My favourite De Niro movie. I've watched this so many times.

  • @repo136

I can watch this movie over and over again...it's a masterpiece, hands down!!!

  • @repo136 - A superb performance and VERY underrated.

  • So underatted- a wonderful film and is relevance just keeps growing

  • what a great film. Thanks for posting the trailer. But where's Sandra Bernhard!?
