  • very nice work and how long did u take to acomplished??

  • @XoSarahAlmeida About less than 2 weeks in spare time.

  • i like the way you build this trailer how did you know where to put the axle im thinking of building 1 for my 2 atvs thank you for your response

  • @Mrcharlie855 $550 USD complete.

  • good job! i have fit and welded for 32 yrs and am about to look into building trailers. economy sucks! too many layoffs over the years not to mention company closings. would you send me specs on your trailer as well as coping, miters ? is it all 1/4x2"x2" angle? is the axle 1200 or 1500 lb. rating? where can i find specs on locating single and tandem axles for proper placement? email me at timanderson@hotmail.com. thanks and very good job!

  • nice job.

  • Great job on the trailer, What size of angle did you use and how much did it cost? Thanks!

  • @MrJjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj 2/1/2" angle iron. about $250 in angle iron alone.

  • would tht size trailer fit a 4 wheeler and 2 dirtbikes

  • @PABushMan7 oh yeah, without hesitation!!

  • hi nice job !! ive built a box trailer but need to make sure the axle is in the right position can you help me ? the box is 5ft5in long with another utility box on the front of that which is 1ft4in, then the A frame with the hitch is 2ft so in total its 8ft9in long so where would the axle need to sit to balance the trailer best please could you reply back to me asap thanks

    dazz180

  • @dazz180 it'd place the axle approx. 2ft 2 1/2 in from the rear to front, which would leave approx. 3ft 2 1/2 in. left of the total frame. This would balance out a loaded trailer. What you want to do when placing the axle is the load on the trailer to be on the axle itself.

  • Nice build man!

  • @WESTCOASTKING76 thanks.

  • nice trailer,

  • @bigcoachie thanks, thinking of what to do next.

  • @hizpanicmale build one for me?

  • the trailer looks great, very good job. Is it possible to get the material list for it? I have an axel and want to build a trailer.

  • what song is this

  • @PABushMan7 numb/drowning pool

  • Good job

  • I was wondering if you have a parts list for this build made up. What size angle iron did you use?

  • Great looking trailer. I'm looking to build a 12' x 65" dual axle.

  • Nice work, I have to do one myself soon. Thanks for posting!

  • excellent job!! can you pleease send me a message with your materials list and a quick how-to on how to build it? i'd rather spend $600 on making my own 6' x10' rather than spending $1000 on a new 4' x 6'. thanks man i would owe you BIG time

  • Really like the fine job you did on this trailer.....is it possible to get a materials list from you? I would like to build one also. Thanks for the video.

  • @jonesestheoddcouple I'll try to get the list of materials needed

  • Well done!!

  • If you were to build a 6x12 trailer, tandem axle trailer, what thickness angle iron would you use for the frame?

  • i would suggest 1/4 in thick angle iron for a tandem axle trailer.

  • i have the same questions as mogyver69.. i just finished my trailer frame almost exact as this but only 5x10 frame .. just wondering what you used for paint, brushes etc, looks good the way you did it, any primer or clear coat either?. i like to do the same. few tips would be awsome, thanks

  • a good primer and metal paint will suffice. The paint tends to face regardless. So a re-paint every couple of years to keep the iron from collecting rust...

  • @hizpanicmale what's the best way to align an axle after it's been removed?

  • @edo4609 from the tip of the hitch and measure to the edge of the spring hangers. try to be as accurate as possible so your trailer pulls straight when your going down the road and it helps the tires wear evenly. hope this helps

  • email me the info too if you dont mind, thanks

  • Very cool build, would you have detailed prints? would really appreciate info as well.

  • hey i was wondering what your out of pocket expense was to build this..im a welder/fabricator looking to make some side money..would the build and sell ratio be worth it?

  • like $550 dlls., it can be a very e-z money business. Think about it.

  • Kudos man looks pretty strong, what do u plan on hauling with it?

  • i haul my garden tractor.

  • @hizpanicmale cools it looks the perfect size

  • is it rustolium profecianal oil based gloss black?

  • yes.

  • I just finished building my frame. 6ft 4" x 12ft Im ready for paint. What paint did you use ( I see you said oil based) and did you primer it first? Your paint job looks good so Id like to check into seeing if I can get the same stuff... What brand? Also is there a special brush you used to prevent from getting streaks? and what did you do for preping the metal. Any help would be appreciated...

  • I'll email you the info.

  • Very nice. Im in the process of building my self one. Just purchased a lincoln 180 mig welder. Question? What size angle steel did yo use?

  • wow ! realy nice . realy simple ! and look light ! thanks they give good idea for my trailer build project!

  • Thanks.

  • There's always room for improvement. : )~

  • do you have any free plans for this??

  • I just got a partial plan from an online website. The rest could be figured out easily.

  • tidy looking trailer you should sell them, make abit, well done

  • Thanks. It's a good side job{money earning} business. : )

  • Ahh the vin number is a matter of state my state will assign a vin number that you are required to either weld on or engrave on the frame of your trailer. Plus laws change frequintly on size and some states dmv or secretary of state require a safety inspection. that means they will check and make sure your welds are the right size

  • I'm sure it'll come to that with time. Some states start it first and eventually the rest follow.

  • Nice work.

  • Thanks.

  • Did you use an oil based paint to paint this trailer black? And you must have used a brush? What do they look for when you get it inspected at DMV for VIN?

  • Indeed, it's an oil based paint painted with a brush for a thick coverage. Actually you just get the trailer weighed, and take the slip to the DMV. No VIN required. It'll be listed as homemade.

  • how much money do you figure you have invested in material?

  • Approx. $550 USD

  • how much angle iron did you use for the 6 x 10 trailer you made

  • i would estimate about 100ft

  • thats one nice trailer, that would go for 900 bucks around here ,elkhart ,indiana. grate work,i like how u tied the toung railers all the way back. did u have to cut the wood long ways or did it work out just right? did u make a gate for it yet? looks real good! keep them comeing! thanks

  • The wood worked out perfect! I'm in the process of building the gate to haul my lawn tractor. I just have some temporary ramps for it at the moment. Thanks for commenting.

  • i'm currently building a custom 16' utility trailer at my high school. i'll try to have a video of it up by sometime in january. it will blow this trailer out of the water.

  • That's my next project. A 16 Footer.

  • I thought that it would fun to build a trailer but i have put in a little over 100 hours building it. so far i have put about $2200 in it, thats not incuding the floor and paint. i modifided some things that were in the plans i bought to make the trailer look better.

  • I Built a 6x10 this past summer and used 2in. square tubing for the whole thing, 3500lb axle, and that thing can haul pretty much anything I put on it.

  • They can hold a lot of weight.

  • Nice log splitter :)

  • Great vid !

How much did it weigh finished ?

  • Around 700 LBS.

  • excellent vid and custom build!!! how did you fab the fenders? and the axle?

  • The Fenders and Axle were bought online . That sped up the process.

  • what gauge metal did you use for the original frame?

  • 1/4" inch thickness. It withstands perfectly and is light-weight.

  • Where did you get your axle from and what make is it. Did you use car wheels what PCD are they?

Sorry about the barrage of questions but cannot get hold of a suitable axle here in uk without parting with an arm and a leg.

  • $140 USD. 15" wheels from a car. trailerplans/com

  • what kind of welder did you use and how long did it take you to make and how much did the finished product cost?

    thanks

  • Just a regular 220volt arc welder. Took me about less than a week to finish. Total cost around $550 USD.

  • how do you measure how far a axle should go back on the trailer

  • I used 60/40 for axle placement. I just measured from front of trailer 6ft back and that was the center where the axle was suppose to go.

  • Rule of thumb is 60% of the trailer frame in front of the axle and 40% behind. Remember this is just a rule of thumb. Indivudual designs may vary somewhat but will be close to this.

  • like your trailer and want to try and make one myself. what size angle iron did you use for frame- also what thickness. thanks, erik

  • Comment removed

  • 3" Angle Iron

  • What was the cost of material for your trailer?

  • Approx. $550 USD.

  • Can you tell us what size of C channel and gauge

you used on this trailer thanks

  • 3" Channel

  • What did you use to cut the metal?

I'm going to try to convert a small boat trailer to a small ATV trailer?

Thanks What welder do you use?

  • I used a cut-off saw.

    Just a regular 210v welder.

Boat trailers are excellent for conversion. =)

  • a picture is worth a thousand words... wow, that was better than reading a book on how to assemble a trailer..but of course, a video is worth a million words..

  • where is the rear gate

  • I'm going to build one.... to transport my motorcycle and garden tractor.

  • very nice!

  • Thank you..

  • nice work

    from argentina

  • Thanks...:)

  • great trailer make

  • Thanks...:)

  • nice job.

i've been wanting to make me a custom trailer 12x76 inch wide including the tire, with 24 in wall, double axle, bull hitch. yup, one day ;)

  • Thank you Bud..

  • awesome i wish you made plans i need one for my mower

  • I didn't buy plans to make this trailer. Just looked at some pictures online and made it from there.

  • did you but that as a kit or something??? or is it entirely homemade

  • Entirely homemade.... I didn't think a kit would be needed being very little parts needed to construct... : )

  • wow im impressed about wat did it cost for you? im interested im making one

  • ..'bout $500 bucks... : )~

  • nice trailer

  • Thanks!

  • nice job dude!!!! congratulations!!!

I think doit a militar trailer for my land rover!

  • looks better than any store bought trailer i've seen. Great job!

  • Thanks. I tried.

  • here it goes.... $550 bucks!

  • What kind of welder did you use on this project? I'm debating on building one of these based on if a 120V MIG can do the trick or if i have to get a more powerful welder.

  • I used a 220 volt ARC welder.

  • Where in Mexico do you get the still? I am in LA how far into Mexico say below Houston would I have to go?

And how did u bend the channel iron that goes from the tire up to the hitch ? Weld it on the preexisting frame and then bend it ?

  • From Houston it's about 5 hours into Mexico. I only live minutes away so it makes it easier on me. On the channel iron, i just made cut a V groove where i wanted it to bend and then just welded it back together. It holds on strong.

  • if the trailer 6 feet wide when u got your axle did u have 70 inches for spring centers or 72 how did u do it

  • hmm, when i ordered it I called the company directly and asked them the same thing. I just told them the width of the trailer and they sent me the correct one. I'm pretty sure they add/take inches to compensate for the tires.

  • lovely job.

  • Thank you.

  • Nice Job
