My lovebird plucked some of his feathers when his partner died, and even tho he is happy now, the feathers didn't grow back. Anyway, cockatoo headbang too precious for words :D
The bird is so cool, thankfully someone who cares for the bird has him now. Who ever the owner was that had him before you must have tormented him. Nice job for taking him into your home where he will be taken in very good care.
My coockatoo (yellow crested) is worse than that, She screams when I go to the bathroom for 2 minutes. But then shes a happy little bird when I come back.
sidekickwannabe...I have a Blue and Gold Macaw that I rescued/adopted...He had plucked his feathers....While he is loved and happy now as well, he does not have all of his feathers back either!!!
Its socute, but ou should know, bird pluc ther feathers when they are strssed, sort alike when huumans hair fals out when their stressed. Thought u should no.
Bunch of fucking "geniuses" on here telling you why the parrot looks this way, when you posted the reason. Sorry you're bombarded by these pedantic jerks. SMART PEOPLE HAVE ALL QUESTIONS, DUMB PEOPLE HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS.
@XxChildoftheReaperxX Don't think so. You look like a douche for calling someone "disgusting" because you claim it's not their original video. Nice try.
@XxChildoftheReaperxX How you could automatically assume I can't admit such a thing over 2 reasonable comments is beyond me. Good one for hinting at yourself being a douche as well, but I'm not going to offer you sympathy. Emo fag.
Sorry to repeat myself, but parrots, especially cockatoos, are prone to feather picking. So unless you consider becoming ill, having a baby, moving, getting a new pet, getting a job or dying to be cruelty or neglect, don't be too quick to judge. Not to mention that birds can get diseases and allergies. Would you fault a parent if their kid gets acne?
@sidekickwannabe Lol, doesn't it piss you off when people comment on things which are clearly explained in the description. Cool bird man, keep on rocking.
@sidekickwannabe ~ So glad you take the time to keep explaining what people don't seem to want to get! I've rescued cockatoos. This is one very lucky and very happy bird! ~ So glad it's in a loving home!
@TeenageSuicideDoIt Please read what I just posted - I probably should have posted it as a reply to you.
The bird isn't eating it's own skin!!!!!!!!!!!! Some do, but not this one. Just look at it!
This also may look worse than it is. That front part is sparsely feathered to begin with, so it doesn't take much to make it look bad.
After my African grey died, I had to leave my 'too alone (w/o bird or human contact). I came home to a cage full of feathers. I was at the doctor's office!
Birds pluck out their own feathers when they are stressed or neglected and the feathers do not grow back. This bird was saved by someone who loves it and it is now a very happy creature in a loving and caring home.
@sidekickwannabe Perfectly happy birds, esp. cockatoos, can feather pick. You can't assume it's someone's fault. You can't distract a cockatoo! You can try buying toys until you find one he likes.
Sometimes something irritates their skin, so they pick and feel better, so when the pin feathers, which most certainly itch, come in they go on picking. .It's a tough problem.
You could just get an Amazon. They hardly ever pick.
@sidekickwannabe actually birds can become feather pickers regardless of stress or neglect. I have a cockatoo that has been half naked for almost 20 years and she is neither. The vets said it's like humans who chew fingernails or their hair. With birds it becomes neurotic.
Our Peaches is rescued. Lots of her feathers are pulled out. She has stopped now because she is loved, spoiled, fed organically etc. But neglect and abuse will cause a bird to pull her feathers out. Peaches had both. But now, she will have a happy home until the day she dies.
thank you for the pleasant comments, but unfortunately, this bird belonged to someone else, someone who loved it greatly and it clearly showed. the bird is happy with its current owner and we merely got a chance to meet and fall in love with it for only a short time..
Yes, it is so sad when parrots pluck or feather chew. Usually it is from a stressor, not enough attention or wrong cage or food. Our adopted macaw had all three. The vet says she will never grow the feathers back, because, at 26 it would be too uncomfortable. Younger birds, maybe. Lots of attention. Like all day, lots of veggies, and a great more natural (like rainforest-like) environs. Sometimes its allegies..baths can help but use filtered water and do it gradually if not used to it.
This was a rescued bird, adopted by people who love cockatoos. I was told that the bird was in a neglectful home and he pulled his feathers out from stress. Birds do that when they are in abusive situations. It is a sad story but is also very hopeful because he finally found a home in which he was wanted, and as you can see, was/is a delightful creature with a great personality!
Yes, I've named the song and the artist in the "About this video" section, where you generally explain who, what, when, where, etc. Glad you liked it.
No, the bird won't get feathers. He pulled them out due to stress in the former living condition he was in, which is why he is a rescue bird and is now in a very loving home. It was a sweet bird, really liked people.
That's a happy bird! I don't think it would have gone and done some headbanging if it wasn't happy. I know that it WAS neglected, but it looks like it is well taken care of.
The bird was a rescue animal by a group that saves these lovely creatures. This one was so outgoing and my husband took that video just in the nick of time. It took me over an hour just to time it right.. but it was certainly worth it!
