He then began preemptive attacks on neighboring countries in the name of God and homeland security. The Enabling Act was soon put in place and it stole the freedom of the German people much like the Patriot Act. Some argue that our government has tried this a few times before, but with more subtlety. To take a person's freedom is to scare them bad enough to hand it over.
