  • ...Am I the only one who thinks of Dark Wing Duck when they see this? I guess it's just the big DW, it makes me think "When there's trouble you call D.W., Dark Wing Duck!"

Anywho, I'm really looking forward to see how Matt Smith's Doctor is. From what I've seen of the trailers so far he's going to be awesome.

  • @AVeryMeanGirl haha yeah just saw the first episode, and thought 'dark wing duck' as soon as i saw it :)

  • idiots i liked the old one better... whats next huh changing the theme song... gurrr

  • @Chequeredpenguins That's what comes with a new Doctor. You can't have the same thing all the time.

  • i like the new logo, i was thinking they should have made some kind of tardis looking logo and they finally did! the odd thing is a january photo picture of matt smith had a actracted uniform, now they changed it to some kind of nerd looking outfit, no offence matt smith

  • david tennant is the best better than the cardboard sets online at justdoctorwho-dot-com

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • I must prefer this new logo to the previous one. Never really liked that "banana logo" - This new one has a more "classic who" feel to it, and that's what I like about it. ^_^

  • The 'banana logo' was meant to look like a London taxi roof sign.

  • it looks hot matt smith is the new the 11th

    doctor

  • I'm so not liking the new Doctor Who logo. I think it looks too much like the DreamWatch Magazine logo

  • @kalyndahaaf its what the original logo looked like (as in back in the 60's -80's)

  • seriously, so dreamwatch's got it from doctor who?

why are they going back in time though?

  • It's nothing like the original logo, or any other Dr Who logo that has ever been.

  • I love it, DW-my initials. Aren't I lucky!(:

  • i hope the new doctor who is good =/ but i'll watch it anyways =P i heard the weeping angels are back!

  • Sad to see the wonderful old logo go but thats DW for ya.

  • cant wait for new doctor who! new logo is great!

  • you lot who moan about smith being the doctor piss me off, then when he does great you will just jump on the bandwagon -not real fans-

  • I agree that we really should not moan. Let's give Matt Smith a chance before we decide whether we like him or not. It'll be hard, given how great David Tennant was, but as fans we should support the new fella

  • Comment removed

  • my god the new docter doesn't look right

  • Yes he does.

Keep bitching though, you don't matter.

  • lol thats what ii thought

  • Looks like those early Doctor who logos....meh

  • not really

  • the trailer at the end of the end of time makes me think Matt Smith is gonna be awesome

  • Oh I so agree.... all those moany people saying Matt Smith is going to be lousy will be so embarassed ....

  • Little spinny a thing colon grahmcrackers or whatever your name is below me Anyways you could really shut up now. Please your illegible banter is quite mentally deteriorating. So please to all youtubers out there stop bickering. It's quite aggrivating. That is all.

  • looks really kiddy now makes the series look even more so than before

  • I really like this new logo. it gives me a sense that they're going to give it a fresh feeling.

  • I cant wait for the first episode.....or the stupid rants and rages from idiots.

Heres the things that will be complained about.

    1. Matt Smith as a great doctor but wont admit it.

    2.New Logo.

    3.New companion.

    4. New Tardis interior/outside design.

    5. The fact that Davies isnt there (Even though he wrote about 3 episoes a season, whilst Stephen is willing to work on half the episodes).

  • I can tell you that I, for one, will most certainly NOT miss Davies' writing. That untalented sack of shit couldn't write his way out of a paper bag.

  • The new series is actually called series 1 since it has new everything.

  • no it is still the same show and series 5 it had just had a revamp!

    still series 5

  • Actually, they're right; your wrong. Doctor Who is starting all over again as they want to target a 'new audience'. Therefore they changed the tardis, actor, logo and just about everything and made it Series 1.

  • oh, sorry i didn't know.

but my only thing is - isn't that a redisign?

because it is still doctor who it should be series 5 of dr who

but a redisgned show - if that makes sense.

  • lol - for some reason every time they redesign the programme they revert back to the begining of a new era (if that makes sense). It used to be with every different doctor but since the 9th doctor wasn't on for long they didnt change the programme at all.

  • Actually they did...very slightly. Barely noticeable, but they did actually make a few changes.

  • ok my bad.

    thanks

  • i miss the david tennant and the old logo!

  • I think they're going for a retro 60's feel with this new series and Doctor! Very cool :)

  • The actual "Doctor Who" part of the logo reminds me of the classic series, I like it.

  • noooooooooooooooooooooooo! david tennants gone!

  • Haha I knew it! I knew it was wilf!!!!!! Lol

  • he knocks 4 times

  • well davids gone now

and matt smith is in it now

and the new logo and a electric guitar as the music (the theme makes you think of the ipod a bit) and he gets a new tardis with ROOMS :D

  • yeah me to but i was wondering what will the daleks and cybermen look like in series 5?

  • Ooh, 2-layer logo returns. Love the 'DW' in Tardis shape. I really like the changes that the Beeb makes for series 5 so far.

  • I like it

  • OMG! So excited! Roll on Series 5 =D

  • Doctor Who won't be the same without David :(

We will miss you so much 10th Doctor, my Doctor!!!

  • Doctor Who will evolve without Tennant, just as it evolved when all the other remaining Doctors left the series.

  • Yes it will.

  • good logo

  • FILTH! i liked the old logo :(

  • the tennant logo was the rubbish one. all it was, was a name doctor who in a orange shape! This logo is getting back to how it was before which is great!

  • Don't forget Christpher Elecson. It was his logo too.

  • Ecleson

  • It wasn't merely an 'orange shape'. It was intended to represent an open eye to convey the Doctor's existence of exploring time and space with a sense of awe and wonder.

  • I like the new title looks like the William Hartnell titles

  • right for those moaning grow up and less of the abbusive nasty offensive language therre is no need for it.

u havent seen 2010 yet so cant judge.

these writers are geniuse proffessionals who know what they are doing i think the only really bad move in rtd's era was rose having the clone doctor i thought that wasnt very good send off for rose.

the series is great the show is amazing 2010 im sure will be no different.

  • Hmm, I agree about Rose. OK, some like that with the clone but I just found it cringe worthy.....

  • Apparently even RTD regrets writing that now....

  • it's just you. : )

  • I agree with Endgame167 - it's just you! The clues I've seen so far (spy filming etc) make it certain that Dr Who in 2010 will be brilliant! Plus there's mystery casting going on that I think suggest some major characters will appear.....

  • HybridKeeyray: what is mystery casting?

And I wouldn't mind seeing a few old faces back, be it one-off faces from before, or common characters.

I want to see Sally Sparrow again, for a start.

  • Well, it's not been officially said but looking at the Dr Who Monthly magazine there's a certain actor who is repeatedly featured and the reporters are writing in a way to improve readers' opinions about him. These days he would be perfect casting in a rumoured part in the 2010 series.

  • - I'm not being explicit because I'm a little mystified why there's so little guessing about possible actors appearing in the 2010 Dr Who. But if you get the magazine have a look over the last year and think about who keeps repeatedly being featured and who had 2 DVDs released in 2009 (besides of course David Tennant!) ....

  • me 2. we might cus the weeping angels are back 4 this series!

  • I know they are! Apparantly, not even keeping you eyes open is safe now! These Weeping Angels are the real deal, the others were exciles...

I think River Song is in the Weeping Angel episode, too.

I wonder what the opening is going to be like, thought... new logo, new TARDIS interior and exterior = new opening.

    Hmm.

  • ye : )

  • Look, can everyone stop being shit heads and arguing

There hasn't been a single bad episode of the new series.

They haven't made any bad decisions so far.

Everyone was saying shit about David!

So all of you Grow up

  • Settle heyarnoldsknee...I think someone needs a chill pill. Sticks and stones and all that. It is only a television show, a form of art, a play. We as the audience have a right to our opinions. Save the nasty comments for someone who cares.

  • i loved david tennent as the doctor he had the hair the clothes and the acting. i dno if matt smith can live up to that.

  • I do know what you mean but with Moffatt's fab writing if any writer/producer can help matt smith live up to Tennant then he can.... I think it'll be exciting. Plus if the outfit doesn't seem to work they can always change his outfit part way through. Unlike when Nathan-Turner was in charge.... (brrr, question marks everywhere....)

  • Anyone complaining about Matt Smith's outfit should really look back to what poor Colin Baker And McCoy were lumbered with and count themselves lucky!

  • Wow! I loved how they made look like the TARDIS! :D

  • Mofat is trying too much to make doctor who like it was during the classic era he is trying to make the logo look like the 80s logo the tardis like the Hartnel tardis and hes making matt smith wear old clothes like the 60s as troughton wore

    DO U AGREE?

  • And that's a bad thing?

  • I am not sure about Matt Smith. I did see him once with a scene of him and Billie Piper had in Secret Diary of a Call Girl Not bad, not great. But in the last 4 years, the best episodes were all Steven Moffat: "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances", "The Girl in the Fireplace", "Blink", "Time Crash" and "Silence in the Library"/"Forest of the Dead"

I can't wait to see the 2010 series.

  • Haven't these people heard the term "If its not broke don't fix it" they always have to mess with stuff.

Surly the cant mess things up as bad as when they cast Bonnie Langford as the Doctors companion. I will watch the new doctor and give him a chance as I did with David Tennant.

  • And the current logo is about as far from broken as you can get. Leave well enough alone.

  • @SIFUMHFV2p9Go a new Doctor, a new writer, a new show and a new logo. It makes sence.

  • Last time there was a new doctor they didn't change the logo...

  • They didnt change the kogo straight away but if u compar the logo from series 1 and 2 with the logo from 3 and 4 you will see a difference.

  • They changed the colouring and lighting slightly for the 10th Doctor, but didn't make a completely new logo

  • That's because last time there wasn't a complete shift in production team and head writer at the same time.

  • It looks like true Doctor Who to me. Stop crying fake fan, nothing about this looks bad.

  • Doctor Who has ALWAYS broken the rules you stupid bastard. This isnt the first time the logo has changed.

  • I read that the producers consider the 2010 series to be series one. WTH? Are we getting yet another Doctor Who reboot. I'm always dubious about a new Doctor so I guess it's normal, but Smith just doesn't look right; he looks too young. I was hoping for an older Doctor to break this current youth obsessed trend in TV and Film. Maybe even one with greying hair. I worry they're trying to sex Doctor Who up. The last thing we need is CSI: Doctor Who.

  • Maybe it's just new Doctor Jitters. I had the same thing with Tennant and he turned out to be my favourite after Baker.

  • David Tennant was just the right age.

  • Perhaps, but I liked the older Doctors too. I really liked Jon Pertwee as the Doctor. In today's youth obsessed climate we're not likely to see an actor of Pertwee's age play the Doctor, or any other lead character in any show for that matter. It's like people over 40 don't exist as far as TV is concerned.

  • I see your point and it does seem the new Doctor is maybe too young - or is it that with each regeneration a Timelord's appearance becomes younger? In anycase, the producers have to appeal to a modern audience which is obsessed with youth and sex...if the Doctor becomes SERIOUSLY romantically involved with his companion - it became dangerously close to sickening with DT's Doctor being all mushy for Rose. I think it might be time to grow up and leave the Doctor to a younger audience.

  • Younger audiences you say? Did older people just disappear of the planet or something? Most western countries, including our own Australia, have an aging population. TV audiences by and large are composed mostly of viewers over 40. In fact the over 40s are the larger demographic.

  • Time to grow up? I'm sure you didn't intend that as an insult, but what is wrong with wanting a show we enjoy to be a little more mature? Goodness knows there is enough pap on television as it is. I'm only 37, I'm not quite ready for Matlock or Midsomer Murders just yet. I'm sure Matt will turn out just fine but TV needs more Jung, not Freud.

  • "I think it might be time to grow up and leave the Doctor to a younger audience."

That's such an ageist thing to say. One day you'll be old and wrinkly son, and some kid will tell you that you're too old to enjoy the fruits of modern culture and that you should shuffle along on your zimmer frame and leave the good stuff to young people.

  • I feel the writers and producers and directors and all involved understand that it is the story that keeps this show alive, the twists and turns and comedy (underlined) and PLEASE maybe this series five will have four part serials (and more) like in the good old days. As for the ageist comment - I know that is a moot point to a Timelord however, will Mr Smith have the length and breadth of character for a 900+ yr old alien????

  • And listen to yourself you queer elitist AGIEIST you want DW to go back to FOUR PARTS? You senile, thick-headed CRETIN, you DO know two 45 minute episodes is the EQUIVILANT of a four part serial in 25 minutes don't you?

Thanks for proving you are incredibly naive , hypocritical, and incredibly stupid, much like every boring piss-ant "fan" who rags on Smith before he even starts. You're not a real fan.

  • Then you arent a real fan aussierigger. You never WERE a real fan

"Grow up?" what a fucking stupid mentality. Anyone who thinks that is more a child taking a tantrum than TRUE fans who are mature enough to watch and enjoy Doctors of ALL shapes and sizes, not change-fearing mongos like you. Fuck off, nobody wants you, nobody needs you

Matt Smith is going to be a class act. Fuck the fake fans. FUCK them.

  • Russian people will read it like "Doctor Shno".

  • I don't like this logo much. Something too simple about it. The '05 to 10 logo is sleek and impressive. I'm sure it doesn't matter, though. The show will still be good.

  • best logo yet, classic desing with a cool look and I like the colors. This now logo is VERY Doctor Who

  • Blimey, everyone dissing Smith and the logo before they even get a proper run. You don't seem to have noticed that the Doctor (and, yes, the logo, there's been about eight different versions) change every couple of yers.

  • AND there was too much time wasted on the extended intro anyway. I LIKE it!. I guess those that are addicted to "SpeedRacer" visual stimuli probably dont understand excellent plot development. I mean "MidNight" was so simple set and fx-wise, but what a GRAND bunch of acting. (especially from DT and David Troughton, in his second appearance in Doctor Who, one old, one new) If you saw "Water's of Mars" I believe there's going to be in need of a change. The Doctor will make himself do it via Matt.

  • It's actually David Troughton's fourth Dr Who. He was in 2 Troughton stories and 1 Pertween before. I agree that he was outstanding in this episode.

  • Hentaitrek, maybe he's a great actor, but his costume mixed with his appearance?

No, it's like a 15 year old private school child trying to be emo.

    It's not right.

  • AND for what?. When should it have died?. After Tom Baker because the next 8 years definately could be considered bummers, except they had SOME GOOD episodes right?. Guess Paul McGann shouldn't have made that one of movie then. Even though it didn't sell, Paul McGann turned out to be one helluva Big Finnish audio actor keeping the dream alive. Even if Matt Smith sucks, the Beeb will quickly pick someone new. I think he'll wind-up staying as long as TB, and we'll love him the whole time!

  • @PappyCaligula

I wouldn't say the next 8 years after Baker were bummers. I quite enjoy Davisons tenure, as well as some of the 6th and 7th doctors stories.

  • the new logo looks so bad with such a modern version of Doctor Who...but I still can't decide until it airs..

  • Although I'm looking forward to Matt Smith becoming the Doctor, I can't help but feel dissapointed by this new logo. I'm not keen at all. I understand it harks back to the old series; but for some reason, I cannot help but dislike this logo

  • Why is everybody admitting, they don't like the new doctor?! I know it's just human to be afraid of new things but c'mon...

I really like the Design of the new Logo and I can't wait for series 5 to air!!!

  • its not going to be called series 5 there restarting calling it series 1

  • i agree in changing the logo, but to go old school to much, c'mon, this is rubbish compared to the old one, i guess ill have to llive with it. stop giving matt smith shit, he might be pretty good

after all the same people who chose david tennnant chose matt smith.

  • I like the 2005 to 2010 logo way better

  • me too, they should have just kept that one.

  • As Phil MacCrackin Scottish psychiatrist said, "If its not Scottish, its CRAP!" Tennant is Scottish, so no Tennant means that the new logo is CRAP!

  • This is most ungood..... I love the current logo. It's perfect....

  • I could say that I don't care for the last two seasons of the theme song (it's the drums thing I know for the return of the Master..BTW, like John Simms with blond hair now). BUT I'm there for the scripts, the action, the adventure. That's like some fans of a loosing football team arguing over the uniforms. They're loosing dammit!. I don't care if they GO NECKID they need to win!. You get the drift.

The opening sequence can be rather long. I'd rather see an extra couple minutes of plot.

  • its crap

  • I am undecided over this logo. Initially, I thought it looked ugly. Now, it doesn't seem THAT bad... Obviously I will have to wait until I see it in the title sequence before I make up my mind.

As for the new doctor, again, I will have to wait and see. I'm not over positive, but Steven Moffet writes AWESOME episodes so there is a chance they could pull it together.

  • It's creative yeah, but it's still a bit shit.

  • omg this logo sucks compared to the current gold one!

i heard theyre redesignin the tardis too...wnt be much redesign tho, theyll keep the phone box part obv...

And the new doc looks sleezy but im gnna wait till i see him act, gnna miss david tennant tbh, hes a brilliant doctor...

  • I would like to see the logo in the titles. Might look better.

  • why would they change the logo ? oO it was perfect.

  • This is the best doctor who logo

  • this is quite a nice logo, but i still think the best is the diamond logo that ruled the 90s VHS releases. an updated version of that would look great.

  • I cannot wait. During the last four seasons the Steven Moffet episodes have been outstanding. I will miss RTD, but Moffet is going to rock!

As for the logo, it is growing on me.

  • I like the old logo best. In fact, this new doctor is a bit disneyfied. The assisstant is a shining cool woman and they're going to fall in love. I have no doubt Disney is involved. One of my favourite shows, gone...

  • Meh i prefer the 06-09 logo, MUcH better tbh, but ah well, if they wunna ruin it then they can go ahead and do it, if the new doctor aint good then theyl lose alot of \/iews, i prefer Da\/id Tennant tbh, way better Doctor imo

  • I release that you may not be too keen on the new Doc but you haven't seen him as the Doc yet. Im just saying, maybe you should see him act as him first before you judge him. Not trying to get onto you or anything!

  • The DW as the Tardis is awesome

  • Its OK, but it lookstoo classic, davies made the series his own by making it modern, he attracted the teen audience that way, If he turns it into a 1960 style again, people WILL go off it, This is 2010,the series evolved from the 60's, its now going back a step.

  • ... i guess its ok, but i liked the new doctor who cause it was... well taking a more modern turn, but anyway, i guess ill have to live with it

  • I quite like it.

I was never much of a fan for the 06-09 logo

  • dont like the logo too corny

  • I hate to be a downer, but...it's just a ruddy logo. So long as the writing's good, that's what matters.

  • i love that logo! i heard that sometime in series 5 they'd have a world war II episode.

  • nuuuuuu too many photoshopped lens flares! it looks tacky :(

  • i like it its different :)

  • I prefer the old logo better but i guess the new one is okay but the old one will always rock (:

  • when i first saw it i was like "OH MY THAT'S HIDEOUS MAKE IT GO AWAY!" but i've now had time to get used to it and it's not that bad. i just don't really like the colour scheme. i LOVE the whole orange/red thing they've got going on at the moment and i think the title sequence is really amazing. and i'm just a bit resentful about the fact that it's going to change

  • The logo for series 1 and 2-4 was good, but now its returned to the logos that the old doctor who had! They should of made one that isn't just plain words, at least it should of just been the tardis-shaped doctor who words without the words at its side.

  • its kool but i love the old one

  • Just got chills?

  • My all time favourite Doctor Who logo is the diamond shaped logo from the Tom Baker era. If I had to choose between this logo and the logo for the first four seasons of the new series I have say I like the old one. But who knows I could come to like it. I did like David Tennet when he first started but I do now.

  • this new version is just tacky an uninspired compared to the old one. the old one is more recognisable. thi is just a sharper alloy finished version of the one used in the 70's. God, when they said they were going to give doctor who a makeover, They really did mean it. It'll probably grow on me but personally if they do any more then i'm just going to lose interest in the show altogether. what next, The TARDIS painted yellow!?

  • Have you actually seen either of the logo's used in the 70s?

  • Personally, I love it!

Its symbolic and it goes back to the first 60s' logo.

A definant improvement on the previous, bland logo - it made no sense (A full stop inbetween Doctor, why?).

  • This isn't the actual logo - they have released a newer version which has DOCTOR WHO on a single line, with the Tardis-shaped "DW" between the two words. It look a LOT better.

  • I am going to miss the old version soooo much!!!!! This one is nice but... I don't know.

  • Harkens back to the older logos which I like, I'll be very interested to see the title screens and if they go back to the original feel (with or without the face), hopefully they'll keep the more full symphonic/rock style of music they've had the last season or two.

  • it's ok.............

  • Comment removed

  • Ew i hate it.

  • Same! What have they done to my precious Doctor Who! I WANT DT!

  • I wanna know what was wrong with the old series1,2,3&4 logo why they feel that they had to change it all of a sudden. I think it's way too retro and may put people off it for being too retro and reminding them of the old wobbly dr who(not that i have any problem with that myself- i just know people that might.)

  • Yet another case of Newdoctoritis in the building. Just wait for Matt Smith to appear and then start screaming for DT if its bad, not before.

  • yh but DT has been the Doctor I've grown up with pretty much and I saw in the Radio Times the new TARDIS which looks plastic and Matt's outfit...tweed and a bowtie...its just they're changing everything and i liked things the way they were

  • Change has always been a key theme of the show. Yeah, I like David Tennant too, but I also loved Ecclestone, Pertwee et al. He may be the doctor you grew up with, but its time to move on. If Tennant stayed on, as good as he is, the show's growth would be stunted.

Time to let DT go, and look to the future.

  • ,,.Why the hell are you watching Doctor Who then? It's always been about change and progress...and Smith's Doc is no different from others. Stop being hypocritical.

Seems to me you need to do a lot more growing up

  • Umm...I'm not being hypocritical. I'm not saying Smith will be bad but I just really love DT and I don't really like the new logo. also I don't really like the new Tardis as it just looks a little tacky and plastic. Why is that hypocritical?

  • The Tardis DW logo is great! I'd like the Doctor Who title to be a singl line title, just because that's what I like. I really hope Matt Smith's face isn't in the titles. It was great in the 70s and 80s, but it's 2010 and it's hard to make the face in the titles look cool now.

  • SHIT!!!!

  • I didn't like it at first, but the more I'm watching this, the more I'm liking it. I wonder what they'll do with the themetune.

  • I like it!

  • YES! it looks like theyre making the 5th way more like the original! :D

  • Different. I guess new, new, new, new, new, new, new logo. ( Like new Doctor from New Earth episode )

  • ew.... :(

  • I like it. It's old but new.

  • Oh I actually like it!

  • People keep saying the Dw looks like retrologos? Where? When? How? if anything the "Doctor Who" part is more like the old ones. Ive never seen them do a DW logo
