The audio is bad but I got used to it rather quickly. I so appreciate you putting this together. I am very much interested in Linux/Gnome but am not in a position to use it at the moment. Thank you very much for providing this video.
It supposed that it will be gnome 3 review according to video title, but i've seen tonns of useless obvious information not connected to gnome 3 at all. Bad review. But still there were some useful observations =)
@ManfernoPryrus It is a shell, the OS in this case is OpenSuse, a Shell is the way you see an OS, example, OpenSuse (the OS) can be seen with Unity Shell (like Ubuntu 11.04) or, with Gnome 3 (this case) its like a videogame, you can play it on 1 player mode, or on 2 player mide, but the game is still the same. i hope i have explained well, but, if you have more questions, just ask me. :)
I know it still works... but did you check your cpu usage to see the memory leak?
You can't tell me it didn't happen because it happens to everybody. Otherwise make a video and chuck a screenlet of the cpu on it to show that it doesn't reach 100% usage ;)
I really love your theme. Is that standard? I noticed most other videos show a gray theme. But your metallic blue with that slight arch is awsome. Where did you get it? Are you running Emerald as well? I would love to get my desktop to have your theme when I get gnome 3.
Also, is compiz disable for gnome 3? I can't imagine how it will work with that. The new Gnome 3 is soo cool looking, i guess I can do with out Compiz anyway.
@yophillybro no Compiz in Gnome-Shell. Compiz will probably work fine in "fallback mode". It is Gnome-Shell (which is just a shell for gnome3 - Unity is too).
So in theory if you want to run the Gnome3 stack and compiz, you can. You just can't use Gnome-Shell as it is using Mutter, it has it's own compositor. (not as good as compiz, either)

Was openSuse the first distro to deliver the final gnome 3 desktop? I'm confused, since the download link of openSuse 11.4 Gnome at their site doesn't indicate wether it's 3 or not. Still, at gnome3's site, at "Try it out", all I find is a Fedora and an openSuse download link. Fedora shows the date (2011-04-05), showing it's outdated, while the openSuse link indicates it's (v-1.0.0), so I think that's the newest and latest gnome 3 built in, right? So, is Gnome 3 openSuse's default desktop now?
Too much distracting for me. I'm switching to XFCE, great alternative for gnome 2

Could be worse, they could gather the windows into stupid "application bundles"

Audio to this review is nasty and crackling and I can't bear to listen to it, try again, perhaps with a different container or audio codec.

@ultimatezero00 Ubuntu, absolutely, archlinux its quite difficult if you are new in linux, and Ubuntu ismore free than OpenSuse
