I think, Laura Albert wrote some fabulous books. The story of jeremiah is really moving and bewitching, wether it's real or not. A lot of fictional figures throughout history have fascinated. So, I don't think that it's less worth. It's art. And it's some good writing! The fact that people are decieved is understandable, but in the end, it doesn't really matter. The fact is, Laura Alberts - or JT Leroys novels are great and the deserve to be recognized.

Laura Albert has co-opted, abused and defamed the experiences of Appalachian HIV-positive youth (who really do exist) to create shoddy art. But the real duplicity is in the self-important, intellectually lazy and fundamentally unimaginative American literary and visual art worlds that bought up her trash and promulgated the awful stereotypes she gaudily recycled.
