Well... the neurons of that from us human species are very complex indeed which is why most studies usually start with those that are insects or even microbes. Most of the recent successes have been reverse engineered. The basic elements are now a survival of the fittest adaptation, as it's not that they were given any emotions to go on. So far these actions are presented with random sequencing to their list of attributed "behaviours" whenever they reproduce such as in how to move faster.
