If I buy a HD800 and an Ipod Classic, and I use an Ibasso PB2 Pelican to drive this cans, would it be sufficient? Or do I need more power, lets say, a Lehmann Linear amp?
Ive never heard these before but i have sampled the orpheus quite a bit ago and if these even give half of what the orpheus offers they will never be $100 unless the price of the american dollar increases ten-fold, but then again that wouldnt be a real price drop...
ATTENTION HD800 OWNERS: If you ever bring these headphones anywhere near me, please be warned that, even though I am a pacifist and abhor violence, I will be forced to kill you with that I may possess these for myself. :)
BTW i find this headphone very good for gaming, but expect to spend at least 1000$ on an amp and at least 2000$ on a source (disc-player or DAC if you use computer) to get the most out of these beasts. Hope that helped.
Check out head-fi.org, people there will be happy to advice you.
@Satfgk they might because if the seller tells the buyer these are 10 years old no one would buy them. It would be 100 bucks but by the most it might be 200 dollars
@tstarkisironman A high-end product like this headphone (I own a pair myself) can produce among the absolute best sounds in the WORLD right now. Trust me, the places that actually get to sell these bad-boys are never going to drop the price that much. Just look at the HD 600, they came out a decade ago and sure they've gone down to half the price (I think they're 300 dollars by know) but a company like Sennheiser does not play cheap...
@tstarkisironman A high-end product like this headphone (I own a pair myself) can produce among the absolute best sounds in the WORLD right now. Trust me, the places that actually get to sell these bad-boys are never going to drop the price that much in 10 years. @Satfgk what about noise gettn in that from what i heard seems to be its only prob and can i spend under 100 bucks to amp it for games cause 1 dude told me the hd 598s could cause music is easier but these r different????? SOMEONE HELP A KID OUT PLZ
Anyway, these are 300 ohm headphones, which means they require a lot of power to sound good. The HD 598 does not, it can be driven by a portable player. Trust me on this, DON'T buy these headphones if you don't have:
1. A powerful headphone amplifier like the Lehmann Black Cube Linear or the Woo audio 22 (tube)
2. A very good source (that is a good CD-player, vinyl or such. NOTE if you use a laptop, you need a D A converter (dac)
The only complaint I can find it these are that for the price, there is No Noise Cancellation and it allows sounds to seep in. This is not a personal complaint.
@DeathToTheseWalls BTW you probably wouldn't, they are not "impressive" sounding in the way of "fun" or "awesome". They are reference headphones with a laid back, natural, balanced sound, amazing detail and enormous soundstage. With classical they are breathtaking, with Jazz they are so smooth sounding that you'll get goosebumps and with rock they are great, but lacking energy due to the soundstage. Coming from earbuds with recessed treble/mids they'll probably sound boring and lacking energy.
@DeathToTheseWalls - Cheers bud, I have the 595's as well, I love them, but I want to know so very badly how these compare. Do they really sound more than a thousand dollars better than what we have? I must find out.
@JasonHaskie Indeed, sir. Indeed. You would think the value would start to diminish at around the Sennheiser HD600s or HD650s, but I guess I don't know for sure.
@DeathToTheseWalls@JasonHaskie with the HD 800 you need an ultra high-end system to make them sing, high-end is usually not fun, reference sound is about natural, neutral and transparent representation of music. The HD 800 are VERY transparent, so they don't really have a sound. They are like windows on your head that opens up and let your system/music shine right through, with almost no distortions or colorations in their path. Hard to explain with such few letters. :p
Вот это Мониторы так мониторы! Наверное весь 60-ти летний опыт работы вложили в них, и и цена у них конечно соответствующая: 44,800.00р. или $1,400.00!
