If you want to know the truth ,the u.s came there for oil{profiting war },saddam kill more than 100 thousand kurds in 1988 ,the u.s didn't invade til 2003.....the reason alot of iraqi are mad is because the u.s government bombed baghdad real bad and killed over 55,000 people {mostly women and children }....the u.s wanta to put a puppet as president just like they did with iran back in the 1960's{the shah}.....

The reason they are fighting is because there is a power vacuum. When Saddam was removed and we didnt instill the proper security we produced a free for all situation where any ambitious person with weapons and a following could make a move to attempt to take over the country......hence civil war

The US is not making the war. The US is trying to stabilize the country but the hate filled Arabs keep killing other Arabs and US men. The money would be better spent on building projects like schools and electricity and oil fields but first Al Queda murderers must stop blowing up innocents and Sunni and Shiites must learn to live together. It's been going on for some time, but to be sure, the occupation's not helping any. Anthropology tells us that violence between sub-groups of a given population generally increase when it is perceived there's a competition for resources- usually brought on by a lack of resources, take a wild guess what wars put a strain on. In all honesty though, and on the whole, I'm not sure there's any help for these sorts of religious conflicts- which defy any notions of reason or sense.
