Perfect. Probably one of the 10 best airs for soprano, and Te Kanawa gives the right delivery. She probably would have been well served by performing more Handel and Gluck, instead of silly dalliances into things like Simon Boccanegra, Fledermaus, and Traviata, which didn't do a lot for her.
@ChristophePhilippe I think your right to a degree but she does a wonderful Marschellin in Rosenkavalier and her Mozart is second to none, especially the countess but I agree about the verdi, there were better suited voices at the time, Freni, Caballe, Price etc.
wow, not only is she a better singer than the others, but her acting is actually good. the acting is usually so bad in operas to the point of being unwatchable. not her. wow what a perfect operatic artist
She is a real "Dame" in her acting.
