@maskedhedgehog : well, mag sein, dass sich der arme strauss im grabe umdreht wegen der interpretation mit dem schnulzen geiger, aber musik ist doch dafuer da den menschen freude zu bringen. ich glaube das wuerde strauss doch freuen....

...die interpretation ist halt eine musikalisch- ethische frage....gilt doch auch fuer die endlosen interpretationen von ave maria, eine kleine nachtmusik etc. aber es ist wunderbar, dass diese musik menschen zusammenbringt...!!

You may be interested that Richard Strauss wrote wonderful Viennese waltzes in some works which you will love.Also Sprach Zarathustra(we all know as 2001 opening) later has a wonderful working of a viennese waltz.This is in the 3rd video down of my favourites.Also Strauss Rosenkavalier Suite uses great waltzes-also in my favourites.Cheers.

I challenge Rieu fans to listen to the Videos below and then tell me you honestly still prefer Rieu.The first video is much better played Blue Danube than Rieu with far more musicality. Rieu refuses to play all the music in the next 3 videos even though it's popular Classical but I bet you will love it..Type in:

This is a total insult to J Strauss. Rieu turns these waltzes and all the other classical pieces he ruins into bland synthetic lift music.He dumbs down the original orchestration into a kitch travesty. This is heresy-it is like turning a Rembrandt into a table mat.

PLEASE listen to the Vienna Philharmonic instead and you will understand what I mean!!

Andre Rieu is an entertainer, not a musican. What he did with classical music is horrible. His way to "conduct" is ridiculous.
