  • Question, only because i got into a debate with someone about it. I know it would never be used as such but could the C-17 ever be outfitted for a gunship role much like the AC-130?

  • In my opinion, yes. I think it would make one heck of a gunship.

  • @AV8R4HM thats what i thought :) Im sure you could gingerly give the C-17 a big ol GAU-8

  • or four or five. :)

  • @wtfareuserious How about a Gau 8 on a turret and a M109A6 Paladin Cannon sticking out the side. That would be a nightmare for towelheads on the ground.

  • @superskullmaster That would be nice.

  • thanks u know when the airshow is and whos performimg at march

  • The airshow at March is either the first or second weekend in May. I dont know who will be performing.

  • is this the world's largest runway?

  • @TheMrZAF,

The Edward's AFB runway is, I believe. Our practice was at March ARB which the runway there is 13,300ft.

  • does the kc-135 have a demo team?

  • No, not that I am aware of.

  • @DuffusAndDuffy,

    C-130's used to.

  • You guys woke me up that day lol. I filmed SLAM from my house. Good job.

  • hey great videos how do you get to fly at 80 mph?

  • The airplane is designed with flaps that are designed to redirect the airplanes thrust in a downward direction. That airplane also has over 120,000lbs of thrust to so we are able to get is slow.

  • @AV8R4HM Correction, over 160,000 lbs of thrust.

  • 93 KNOTS?!?

Holy crap! Thats like a hover for something that big. Great vid, man!

(Bitching Betty is never quiet, either.)

  • Thanks brother. Yeah, we have gotten her down to 83 on numerous occasions as well. We were a little heavier that day because we were doing a practice, then had to do a flyby somewhere and head to Edwards for the show. So 93 kts is what we got.

  • my brother went to the show and said it was crowded ..they were not prepared for the amount of people that showed up they ran out of hambergers and took 2 hours to get home, usually takes 20 mins

  • Wow, I did not know that. I never made it over to where the public was. I did see the crowd though. The line of cars was incredible. We did our demo at about 12:15 and even then the line stretched for miles.

  • Very cool video.... I didn't know the C-17 has a joystick. I think if I was in the cockpit and heard "stall" I would have messed my shorts! Planes that big shouldn't be able to maneuver live that...

  • Yes, the C-17 has amazing menueverability for such a large aircraft. Some people don't believe me when I tell them how slow we can get the C-17, that is why at one point during the slow pass, I focused on the airspeed indication. That is also when you heard the "stall".
