He does mostly music videos but with very low budgets. Also check out devinsupertramp. I don't know if you ever have seen anything from him but he does awesome work.

  • Thanks for sharing.

    Thumbs UP!!!

  • Check out Sebastian Wiegaertner and Nino Leitner

  • Media Titan; The DREWnetwork, where every subscriber becomes vice president, respectfully. The DREWnetwork is like a bathtub filled with steaming hot water. Hot to the touch, but once you submerse yourself into it, all the pains of DSLR just go away. Or not...

  • Thanks Dave - I follow you :) you are the best

  • You forgot to mention yourself in this list. Thanks for your work and sharing.

  • Great list Dale! I have found all of those sources helpful in their own unique way. You should check out Alexis Van Hurkman's blog on color correction and color grading. He has some insane insight on that area of filmmaking.

  • "I can turn this dslr into a movie making machine" I could hear Shane saying that when you imitated him. Nice!

  • Dave you should put everyone link in the info box so its easy to find them.

  • Check out Devins Kualoa Adventure - Oahu Hawaii - Glidecam HD 4000

    it's my favorite

  • Great List! I can't believe DevinSuperTramp isn't anywhere in the list. He primarily uses a Canon 5d mark ii+16-35mm and a GlideCam for most of his videos. That's it...

He has amazing sweeps and angles in his video! One of his videos just went viral this week..Puppy Christmas.

  • NIce and info video. Thanks. What mic are you using for your videos?. sounds good.

  • nice video thanks... one of the great people that helped me get better learning how to us my dslr camera was MichaelTheMentor. he explains very well and he has some great videos

  • what a useful video ! I am a DSLR beginner

  • Great list thank you I appreciate you making this video. If anyone is interested in DSLR skateboard-related videos, please feel free to subscribe to me :)

  • I like to follow Zacuto as well.. Steve Weiss in particular. They do a lot of entertaining video's besides the company. And they don't make those videos as people of Zacuto but as independent filmmakers. Like the Great Camera Shootout.. Or Critics and BTS and there's more to come, I love them. Very educational and entertaining.

  • Thanks Doug! informative vid!

  • I had like a half of that list already, but one of the most I visit these days is not under that list, and it is your own channel, Dave. ;)

Also, one that I'm visiting frequently is the channel of LightsFilmSchool (here in YT). They don't have a lot of tutorials, but they're mostly inspirational, pretty good stuff for proper film making.

  • Hi Dave: I also have my list and you are one at the top of mine. You are not only educational, but also very inspiring, a wonderful combination. Another that you may already follow that is ed. & inspiring is Anders Overgaard @ Andyax productions! Have a great 2012!!

  • I saved each link in my bookmarks bar. Love your stuff Doug. Thanks for being so helpful.

I think I have my first project idea. Can't wait to shoot and learn.

  • Hi! I think the list you made is fantastic! I'm really new to all of this, i don't even hav a camera but i will!...soon enough.

Anyways, i'm trying to learn all I can and I will be checking those sites you recommendend on the next few days also you are pretty good, I have learned a lot from you ( A LOT) and you should be on that list.

    Thank you!

  • Agree with a lot of other folks, you need to be on that list!!

  • oh - and of course Jared Polin and Adam Lerner from FroKnowsPhoto!!

  • great video! I had most of these guys already followed, but learnt about some awesome ones too! I would also recommend AdoramaTV with Mark Wallace and Brian Peterson (also Tamara Lackey for interview stuff) :)

  • Great suggestions, thanks Dave, shall definitely check out. Can I add that Adobe TV is a fantastic learning resource for all Adobe products: tv.adobe.com/

  • final cut king pretty good 2

  • great video...as always!

  • I sent the link to this post to a church colleague who has just started filming with his T2i/550D, but I told him that of all your suggested tutorial sites for DSLR video, I found your own site to be the most helpful for beginners. Please keep them coming.

  • Just some of the YouTube channels I watch- BlacksPhoto, CamCrunch/DipMVideos, Knoptop (dslr diy stuff), MichaelTheMentor, PhotographersOnUTube, PhotographyGuide, WhatDigitalCamera (camera reviews)

  • MattsMacnitosh for sure:)

  • Great list! Check the Coastal Crew...

  • hey dave, you should definately check out dave dugdale, he's pretty high ranked on my own list.

  • thefrugalfilmmaker is the master of DIY projects, you should definitely check him out. Although I'm a photographer, I still watch tutorials and how-to videos on DSLR film making, and I really like your videos, they are extremely helpful.

  • Ryan Connoly shows practicality~educational, therefore should be in the top 5.

  • Dave, you are on my list. :)

  • Throw my channel in there at #18 ;-)

  • @marquesbrownlee I have been watching you for some time now, I will sub you to make sure I continue to.

  • RYAN CONNOLLY BOO YEAH GRANDAMA!!!!

  • Phillip Bloom @ 6? Travesty! :) And these guys are right Dave, I've been following you for a year now and you're definitely way up on that list!

  • Great List! I also like Zack King of @FinalCutKing he's young, creative and has amazing tutorials (free & paid) on his website. Thanks for the video! :)

  • Super helpful, Dave, thanks very much for this list! You're definitely at the top of mine.

  • TheMrMenagerie and his second channel TheMrMenagerie2.

He had a break between videos, but he has started back. His tutorials are great, and he really responds with the viewers as well! He saved me tons of time in several of my projects and my vlogs as well!

  • #1 Dave Dugdale :)

  • I was wondering what FPS you use in your video? 30?

  • @griner65 in his recent vids, he said that when he just talks, he usually uses 30, but when motion is a great part of the vid, he uses 60. ;) Hope that helps.

  • Guys, where would you placed Dave? For me Dave would be in top 5. BTW. Dave - next time add yourself to the list ;-)

  • TOM GUILMETTE RULEZZZ!!!

  • Awesome Video man!!! Have been followin ur videos since a while now.. And man!!!! U forgot one name in this one. There were suppose to be 18 in the list. Why didnt u put ur name on the list....??

This video compelled me to type a post here when I m not yet one of those conversing types... ...

    As always YOU ROCK MAN!!!

  • i checked out stillmotion. my god they're amazing! their tut on monopod uses is magnificent

  • Is there something like this also for Photographers- I find it very useful to be guided by people who have been on the journey longer & so readily share their learnings....Makes it that much easier..Thanks for this one, as always enjoyed your video..

  • I forgot-- Andrew Kramer is God.

  • Surprised Philip Bloom and Vincent LaForet weren't higher... just my opinion. Also, I was surprised to see Freddie W even on the list. I don't think he's as creative as people give him credit for. As another commenter said below me, Corridor Digital is better. Just another opinion of mine.

  • Omg!!!!! Film Riot!!

  • CORRIDOR DIGITAL>FREDDIEW

  • You forgot yourself Dave :)

  • what about drumat5280?

  • I watch the videos on my cell phone so I really wish I put the links in the description

  • Hay Dave... I Follow You! I don't do much video editing or create many videos but I love seeing your down to Earth view on stuff. Keep it up and thanks for the cool links.

  • corrdigital is better than freddy in my opinion.

  • Hey Dave great List. Ive been watching your channel for some time and you always have great information to put out. each video gives me a new direction. Thanks

  • First I'd like to say thank you for showing the Royalty Free site on the bottom. My god they have a wide selection of beautiful music. There are some sites I go to and it's hard to find really good gems. There it's all over the place. Second hey I'm actually subbed to a few of those people XD. Thank you for the awesome list.

  • if freddie wong is in this list you have to mention sam an niko from corridor digital too

  • Ryan is so much better that Freddie in production value and is also the proper way of production. Freddie wong is good as a reference but learning is Ryan :)

  • Ryan Conolly should be way higher then Freddie Wong.. Ryan alwase inspires us to do stuff with what we have and alwase learn how to do it with "bad" equipment.. he also have ALOT of "Do it yourself" videos.. Wich Freddie does not.. thats just my opinion:)

  • Thanks everyone for the suggestions here and on the other places like YT. I have just added about 10 people to start following to see if they are any good.

  • Thank You mr Dave!

  • On neumann films man i asked him about how to record a dialogue scene and hes making a tutorial about it now:) they're sick!

  • I never thought to look for podcasts on DSLRs but I love podcasts and will add them to my to listen list. Thanks for the suggestions!

  • Final Cut King, VFX Bro, XVS productions

  • YES! I followed each link as you counted down... I love all of these sites, some I knew, but many I had never seen. FANTASTIC collection. I spent at least an hour, and two cups of coffee reviewing each one. Dave, you should be on this list as well. Thx again!

  • @rsmrt Thanks for your comment. That is my favorite comment so far, hopefully you are not a work right now. :)

  • I think Ryan Connolly should have placed higher than Freddiew.

  • @ThunderAndRainFilms I think Freddie is just incredible, but honestly I watch Film Riot more.

  • Definitely check out danny lacey. He is veey creative, a huge inspiration, and very educational as well. Worth the time to watch his stuff

  • I follow a bunch of these guys this list. I started a show of my own to try help the beginners out there, as well. I'll never be as good as these guys are... but maybe being a girl I can inspire other girls out there too. :D

  • I am 14 and have bought a DSLR because Freddie, Andrew and those guys from CorridorDigital inspired me. I am also learning VFX, trust me, i will make movies that everyone is going to see. Btw, you look like Dustin Hofmann

  • John Holland at Narrowland films. Not so much educational but pure inspiration. He can tell a story in 2 minutes or less and he uses the T2i. DeeJay at onelonedork still has some good info even if it isn't recent.

  • A great list! The only others I can think of are maybe Tom Lowe from Timescapes, just for the forum there. But also devinsupertramp on YouTube for inspiration and also Gnarly Bay.

  • would you recommend this lens?

  • Hey Dave, this is a bit of an unrelated topic but you should do a review of the HDR video feature in ML; I'm sure lots of people would be interested in hearing your thoughts.

  • @Tsouj Alex from ML was nice enough to give me an advanced copy of it but I had to decline because I am too busy right now. I will take a look at it next year.

  • why 17? why not 20?

  • i like ryan conoly

  • I want video copilot to be #1... I bought Adobe Creative suite for dreamweaver, photoshop, fireworks, and flash... but Andrew Kramer from video copilot is why I use aftereffects... andrew kramer should be on Adobe's payroll simply for what he is doing for the aftereffects brand

  • @DSLRnoob That is so true, I am sure Andrew has helped Adobe sell a ton of AE.

  • @hastetheday141 DeeJay has not made anything in a while so that is why I left him off the list.

  • Ryan should be number #1.

  • why 17??? what an odd number to come up with.....

  • @dwshetler it should have been 18, i forgot Tony Reale.

  • Dslr film noob has helped me a lot with product decision making.

  • Great Idea putting together list together. Wrongly assumed, I knew who to follow. Thanks. Now of to do some book marking, just in time for the Christmas break. Not sure my wife will happy though!

  • I like to follow snapfactory He is a still guy, but so brilliant in education and creativity. A lot of things you can use for video too, like his greenscreen stuff, color balancing and much more. You can learn so much - excellent

  • @pedrohofmann Mark Wallace is more of a stills guy, that's why I left him off the list. He does great work however.

  • can you do the same for still photos !!!

  • DIGITALREV!!! I was surprised they're not on the list...I was surprised they werent number 1

  • @YungB0211 Kai does mostly product reviews and doesn't do tutorials, but I really enjoy his videos.

  • @drumat5280 yeah your right and he mostly does stills.

  • @YungB0211 i dont learn much from digital rev

  • @SquareballTV yeah its more creative and inspiring

  • new intros intense :D who made it? did you? its really smooth and cool

  • I need help filming videos on my own. A lot of the time I set up my camera I'm usually out of focus by a bit and its bothering me. Can you create a tutorial that would help or guide me in the right direction?

  • Ryan Connoly is at least in the top 10 !

  • Yeah digital rev is great for camera reviews.

  • Hey what about nofilmschool . com?

  • @RnRProductions77 Ryan Koo's site I thought was mostly about news and not that much about teaching - am I wrong?

  • Dave thank you very much for sharing this, you'll be blessed! HAPPY HOLIDAY TO YOU AND YOUR LOVE ONES!

  • You forgot to mention'd..Dave dugdale :)

  • Dave, I've followed a lot of ppl already based on who u follow. Thanks man :)

  • Incredible how you did not mentioned Mark Wallace! He's a guru for all of us!

  • Digitalrev ?

  • Thanks a lot for those links. Always good to get some new input. Those 2 are also very interesting:

    youtube.com/user/dteubner

    youtube.com/user/djbeto267

  • Glad chase isnt in the list, for beginners chases productions just arent there. hes defaintly more of a pro kinda guy. (obviously)

  • Check out BlackBoxTV as well!

  • You should check out WONGFUPRODUCTIONS! They shoot most of their short films/music videos on a DSLR. They're quality films too (a rarirty here on youtube). =))

  • What about mattsmacintosh? His videos are great. An he uses his Dslr in most of them. He also uses his iPhone in a unique way.

  • Out of all the Royalty free music sites you use, what is your favorite? I'm always needing background music for my videos so any help is much appreciated!

  • Thanks very much for this list. I recommend that you check out mattsmacintosh if you haven't already.

  • awesome list - will follow all of them and see what I like. Thanks for the list!

  • DigitalRevTV is definately worth a watch they are more photography based and often they look at camera bodies and lenses. But their videos are fun and entertaining to watch

  • Thanks Dave, I just got a Canon t3i and am new to video on the DSLR and your videos have helped me quite a bit.

  • how did you do that intro? that intro looks very familiar to FilmState...

  • Olivia Speranza too!

She does stuff with Emm from Cheesycam and there's always cool stuff on her blog and great videos too.

  • I also enjoy mattsmacintosh. some great tutorials and product reviews. but I was just waiting in anticipation for ryan connolly. amazing guy

  • Great list!

I would have put cheesycam at number 1. :D

You're right about that long video by Tom, I also watched it all the way through and didn't really think about that until you mention it now.

Check out my channel Dave, maybe you will like my work/tutorials enough to include me in the next list? ;p

  • All of these can be found on YouTube

    "Devinsupertramp" is extremely inspirational

"Digital rev" is educational and creative

    "Frugal film maker" is educational

    Great list though

  • #1 Dave Dugdale :D

  • CHASE JARVIS DUHHHH!!!!!

  • if u have nobody behind the camera how do you get yourself in focus? thanks

  • i follow all those guys. Great stuff

  • DSLR Film Noob is a really good channel for leaning more about DSLRs. Not particularly creative as he spends more of his videos sharing his thoughts on different DSLRs, lenses, and accessories, but still a good watch either way

  • Thanks for the hard work!

  • You definitely forgot KreativeVueTV

  • @UPPERECHELONTV thanks I just subscribed to them. Please keep the suggestions coming guys.

  • I use Sony Vegas and I have dont several tests when it comes to rendering. Got some clips of my mates and tried rendering and I look at some tests on YouTube, and the quality never matches theres. Check them out, feedback really appreciated.

  • no chasejarvis on that list^^

  • @bassmanTV I follow Chase and I am not sure why I didn't add him, perhaps because I think of him as a stills guy.

  • @drumat5280 but he does do a lot of video production too

  • Dave Dugdale, he's definitely creative, inspirational and educational! ;-)

  • @TheCMWUK Here here on that.

  • Dave, thanks for sharing. I put you high up on my list not that I've ranked anything but I get bored on alot of other sites. I like Phillip Bloom as well. You are so daggone generous. And you post frequently enough to keep my interest. And you capture very nice stuff! Even the shots of you shooting yourself look lush, good settings. The comparison testing you do keeps my interest too.

  • Corridor digital
