i've seen wing chun training device with only a stick hanging out... and i thought how crap it was. this is real training! does it hurt when you hit it ? (just curious)
@cosminso1230 This dummy was custom made for me in China. I think it is made from teak wood. The point of dummy is really to help your positioning and fluidity of motion - it is not really a conditioning tool. When you first practice, you can't hit is very hard as it hurts but you get used to it and you don't feel it after awhile. I joke that you can hit my arms with a baseball bat and it probably wouldn't hurt :-)
Dummy is an advanced form and training tool but I give my students some simple drills to practice early in their training. In the next couple of weeks I will put up some new videos and show how someone from a different discipline can use a dummy to enhance their training.
I agree with you. As a sample for the novice, I am trying to show a brief segment of the dummy form to illustrate flow and speed. By the way, I really like your chi sao demonstration - you look very smooth and relaxed and it great control. Where did you learn your Wing Chun?
Hi winbr1 I learnt a number of years ago under a few different sifu , my linage is wong shun leung via Nino bernardo It's a combination of good foundation and self expression You control it! It doesn't control you Peace!
