This sounds terrible. And the xylo player is not that special...our xylo player has played for 2 months and is whipping out crazy runs at like 164 bpm. Nothin great.
@jinglemuffins123 considering the size of the keyboard, it probably only has about 3 octaves give or take. A marimba can have any where from about 3.3 octaves to about 6.3 octaves.
It's not, although your right about picking the best. the first band is the training band, and when you are good enough, you get moved up into the concert band, which is this one.

ragtime and carribean sounding music is SO SICK on mallets
MomntrySilence 1 year ago
That's definitely a xylo, made out of wood. It's so bright sounding because he's using super hard mallets.

def not a marimba
ethanyounggg 1 year ago
I sure hope that marimba has synthetic (fiberglas) bars, becuase he would destroy a wooden marimba with those hard mallets.

@Sephiroth912 maybe if you count the sharp/flat keys, since they are grouped in 5's per octave, i think i see 4, maybe

How the heck is that metal???? People dont know anything about a xylophone and what it sounds like
jman8887 2 years ago
...those are really large resonators for a xylo
railers60 2 years ago
the soloist is really impressive, but i dont know if its just the poor quality, but the rest of the band just doesn't sound very good XD
And that xylo looks like its pretty short for him. Hes all hunched over, and its below his waste, they need to raise it up some

im pretty sure its bells theyre shiny
jrex47 2 years ago
srry to be a killjoy but hes playings the bells not xylophone xylophone is wood those are metal
jrex47 2 years ago
no, hes playing the xylophone. the "clunk" you're hearing is the fact that the bars might be made out of fiberglass of plastic.
spunkypitter 2 years ago
haha no you're wrong, it Is a xylophone buddy. the shine you see is probly just the lacquer.

what a small band.

It's probably their wind ensemble, it's designed to be smaller than just a regular high school band, picking the best out of the program.
