Thank you for posting these horse care videos. I'm beginning a vocational program that requires students to groom a horse and I have no previous experience with horses. This series is a huge help! Thanks again!
@XSavanaBX Maybe, depends on the personality of the horse but it is really common. To be safe, you need to stand to one side and brush. The move to the other side and brush it. If you watch her brushing it, you should stand around there on the horse.
@XSavanaBX Even if your horse trusts you and you trust it I have always been told to stand on their side when brushing or cutting their tail. Just because you can pull their hair and disturb them by accident they can kick. When walking around a horse that knows you though its okay to just pat it and walk around.
Does anyone with any horse sense know how to make a horse's mane and tail grow long? I've tried everything on my horse's mane and tail and nothing has worked.
@wolfsvain2 Most horses are different in the way their mane a tails grow. However if you want a longer mane their are feeds that boost up the growth, shine and health of the mane.
use a large toothed comb when the horse's hair is wet. its A LOT less damaging to the hair than an actual brush. when its dry, the brush works great. but yeah i do this with my own hair bc it works ha but ya, just a quick tip. i used to use the brush right after a shower and wondered why my hair was always frizzy and i had so many split hairs ha
She probably esd doing it from that side for convenience of the camera haha. Also you're supposed to be on the near side of a horse first. Besides she brushed the mane and got out the knots either way she got the job done. I hate it when people go on here and act like know it alls like they're better than everyone else and correct everyones videos. Unless it's important let it be! Haha ;]
and the "near side" is the horses left, not their right. the only reason they say to do as much as you can from the near side is because that is how you mount and dismount. The person in the video did great, and you on the other hand, dont know what you're talking about.

can i just say that you were brushing the mane on the wrong side of the neck.....its supposed to be on the right hand side

It doesn't ALWAYS grow out from the right side. My friend's horse's mane grows out from the left side. Not all horses are the same. Just saying..
