@shoeme69 what about the fact that wsbk runs shorter races, has 200-400cc more discplacement and has a higher fuel limit? 2.8 sec a lap is casey stoner to tony elias. go to a gp and watch those two go by and see the gap after 2-3 laps... its not huge but the wsbk machines arent decades back. where do you think this r&d leads to.. look at brno this year. the wsbk riders were about where gp guys were in 2003.. almost.

@shoeme69 of course i realise the difference between a 215hp/365lb,$200,000 wsbk machine and a stock sportbike but whats the relevance? the bike rossi stepped off of before making the comment about it being as fast as my first m1 was in fact a street bike. not a racebike let alone wsbk machine. yes he has tested the R1 sbk but this time it was a stock version. thats why i know its a joke. btw 2.8 sec a lap is the avg from top gp to top wsbk. thats a couple 1/10ths every corner. its a lot

Very true. In fact it was considered to be a dog (relatively speaking) compared to the rc211v. When VR rode the 09 R1 he said "it's about as fast as my first 2004 M1. I think it was a compliment to the R1 but a shot at the M1. I know it's not true, it was meant to be a joke. M1 326lbs/220-240hp. R1 420lbs/155hp. Can't be that close

not true lol. some of the old 500cc moto gp engines or replicas but still are flying around in auctions and in kits so prototype engines are possible old but possible

YES.... THE M1 CAME ALONG WAY.... my favorite bike...
