Oh my god, I watched this so many times when I was little, more times than the Wizard of Oz! I need to dust off a VHS player and try to watch it again. I totally didn't realize it was John Ritter though.
No. That Dorothy was the girl that gave Baum the inspiration for Dorothy Gale. Her name was Dorothy Gage and would technically been Baum's niece. And if you notice the headstone, it said she died when she was six
It's confirmed that the movie will be on the third disc of the new DVD edition of MGM's "The Wizard of Oz" in Sepetember. (Disc 2 if you're doing Blu-Ray.)
When was this made... it looks like a film about Baum I saw on TV 10 years or more ago. That being said I'd like see this... might give me some inspiration for my Oz project (though as I recall the film didn't really cover the creation of the later books).
::GASP:: A DVD at last? Huzzah! Great video, a really nice glimpse into the film. I have been searching for a copy (with no luck) I really do hope they follow through with the DVD.
lol I think its cool whats her name from Golden Girls is in it and plays in Wicked and that one woman who played Beverley in IT and so did John Ritter. lmao lol they were lovers in that movie too.
Only real complaints were it being sped up throughout the Oz sequence at the begininng, and the music being too loud when Matilda Gage was talking.
Otherwise, it was a very good video. Like when I first watched it, I teared up when Frank started tearing the book apart. I'll be waiting with bated breath for this to come out on DVD. A fine man portrayed by a fine actor (John Ritter).
I hope someone makes an adaptation of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz book. The book is a great fantasy adventure story!
