I have this DVD I watch it often, 5 STARZ You youngsters get to see America when it was COOL prices were affordable and people were working for good company's and oh yea the Cold War but we made it.
Beautiful films. A couple of small corrections though. That is not the Morning Hiawatha. Likely, it is the Varsity or Sioux from Madison. The C&NW equipment move is not the Penninsula 400. It is the Rochester 400. Not trying to be smart aleck. Great films!
that either the illinois central's panama limited or the city of miami, panama lmtd -chicago to new orleans, amtrak now operates renamed city of new orleans, city of maimi chicago to miami 1940-1971 discontinued by amtrak
Your videos are truly outstanding! And the jazz that is just a "cherry" on the top! Way to go, man. These make me wish I could go back in time. Certainly better times! Thanks for sharing these!
this is so cool. I was 5 years old in 1968!!!! I remember the post BN merger and seeing all the different cars from CB&Q, NP, and GN speeding by on the Empire Builder and North Coast Ltd. This was on the west side at St Louis Ave and Cermak Rd.
Wow, what a difference in the skyline today! Here the Tribune Tower and Wrigley building dominate whereas now you can hardly see them except up close. This must have been in the days before RTA when individual railroads ran commuter service in Chicago.
HA I REMEMBER IN THE MID 70'S.. being a kid and seeing the passenger trains with just one or two cars..it always seemed weird......this is a great video!!
