Hey Warrior---Big Mike is correct. Where the Interstate now runs, they used to have houses all along there.

Sad they tore down all those houses to build an interstate :(

i have seen several videos of mardi gras indians and they always end up under the overpass. why is this?

@TheWarrior831 that area has been a general meeting area for Years ... and allot of them use that route to get uptown to battle ,,, Big Mike

@BiGGMIKE429 thanks for the reply big mike. i am really facinated by this culture and would really like to findout more about it. now this might be a stupid question but why is it exactly that this has become the meeting spot? does it have anything to do with the acoustics under the overpass? maybe because the indians get hyped up off of the reberberations?

@TheWarrior831 I think the acoustics could have something to do with the Reberbs ... but mostly I think our ancestors, have traveled that route for years ,, Claiborne Ave & Orleans AVE have been a meeting point for years & Years ,, ,, in addition to that we have spirits close by in the Cemeteries,, ST Louis # 1.,, 2 ,, and 3 are Near By ,, my father is in Nbr 2 ,,, Irving Joseph Cavalier ,,, ,,, Big Mike

I can see why New Orleans is world famous. No human being can resist the pull of this city. There is no substitute. This city will remain famous due to the strength of the people. That is all New Orleans needs.

@gcpropertymanagement The Indians make their own suits ,, BUT !!!! they do have friends and relatives help with sewing and the bead work ,, ( it's a Family affair ) ,, I personally know some of the Indians and i grew up with some of them in my old 7th ward neighborhood , tks for viewing ,, BIG MIKE
