at what age did you start guitar playing? I started at age 9, got the talent but never seem to level up like everyone in the guitar scene does. You look so cool with your own improvisation skill...keep up!
Nice quotation of "nigth and day" 1:14 ....i couldn't remember the title at first so i had to go check mmy files....one of those things that dont let you sleep, HA. Anyway, nice playing. Saludos desde Panama!
Her improvisation skills are right up there. If she can improve on her swing/feel she'd be sensational. A woman jazz guitarist to watch out for in the years to come.
Hey guys, lay off the counseling already!!! She's only playing a short while,,, and we should all have sounded as good when we were at this stage!!! LOL!!! She'll get,,, trust me!!! LOL!!!!!
I dont know if it was intentional... but from 0:50 to like 55seconds you're actually just playing the frank sinatra melody from "Take me to the moon". Quoting possibly? lol
I often wonder if we never listened to others music (Blakey) and played our own inspired compositions would our sounds be more unique. You seem to try to compensate for missed notes or changed technique on the fly, that is how we learn. Do you have any original compositions, you are in my humble opinion ready. Nice...
try to feel the swing on the 2 and 4 instead of the 1 and 3. Then the swing will become much stronger. It kind of sounds you're playing bossa nova, and band is playing is swing....
BEAUTIFULLL... YOU AND THE GUITAR PLAYING... Just a little tip... Try accentuating al notes with pontuated rithim notes. Pontuated notes are the main caracteristic of bebop vocabulary... But keep it going cause you´re doing a great job...
This lovely girl knows what she's playing, she has a good melodic/harmonic vocabulary... but she needs to work on tempo/time and harmonic rhythm, and also, perhaps, to think less about what she's playing and go more with the flow. An Aebersold play along would be better than the one she has.
She is a great jazz guitarist(the girl is not bad looking either)and I can tell that she has internalized a lot of the jazz vocabulary, but for most of the track , her soloing sounded like my Band In The Box soloist generator(a jazz machine spitting out lick after lick.)
i think thats what i feel about a lot of these guys in these videos. the majority of them play long bebopish lines and tend to phrase in a very linear way without much emotion - they all play the changes correctly and all their lines sound good, but it becomes very repetitive and none of the lines sing at all.
GOOD USE OF THE DIM. SCALE ,AND SUBSTITUTE . THAT CREATE TENSION NOTE.
KEEP THE GOOD WORK .GOOD JOB

great playing...at times the comp and soloist seem to be pulling each other in opposite directions rhythmically.

@jorritwesterhof Creo que la idea es tocar como si fuera bossa nova, así toca Pat Metheny por ejemplo. Saludos.
