thanks for uploading.for me this is more informative and educational as to inform our younger generation about our lost culture.every body can give their opinion but i don't see any "offensive content" with regard to this.i'm proud of the "oldman" who emphasize the good nature of our lost unique culture.there is nothing to be ashamed of but purely educational and should respect this traditional culture.thanks for this Howie's Documentaries..
The application of the folk cultures is up to the people and the society - meaning it's more of a subjective thing. And it's a tough job to apply old traditions today.
Honours to those who were able to help save the folk traditions but if Filipinos really don't understand the culture, then it's no good to force them back (unfortunately).
In every folk tradition we learn about the Philippines, lets see how they can be integrated to the modern Filipinos and not just by blindly injecting it.
Acknowledge it & Appreciate it (in whatever way you want). But never considering to publish them on history books and history related videos would really be a shame.
The only job of the national artist is to collect as much information about the Filipino folk culture before it becomes extinct.
It doesn't matter if he wants to bring it back or condemn it as immoral. What everyone has to consider is the fact that they did become part of the lives of Filipinos then and to a certain extent now and that we don't need to take responsibility about judging it. Just take them as part of the very fascinating history of the Philippines.
I think the main point of this documentary is not merely to promote folk traditions in the Philippines and aggressively encourage people to practice it. It's all because the landscape of the Filipino society is changing - and change is something we can't just stop.
I think the point of this doc is to educate Filipinos about it - that it did exist and that there were reasons why it came about.
Mind you that it doesn't just include the Lukayo traditions - there are the ones by the Igorots, etc.
Traditions doesn't have to be biblical. The Catholic church should not claim that it is the origin of all Pilipino traditions dahil sa mga kastila galing yung tinuturo nila. Lukayo is a rare original Pilipino tradition.
Its not pornographic. It's actually a wake up call for Filipinos that the traditions handed down by our ancestors are vanishing. The Documentary is not in any way bastos or immoral. It is a fact- a part of the heritage that we have.
If we will not take good care of our culture and educate the new generation on its importance-one day we will realized that we are already losing our identity as a nation.
What makes a country distinct is the culture that its people practices.
Don't look down on Filipinos simply because of this Lukayo. If you did read the Bible, nalaman mo siguro na pati ang bayang Isarael ay may kataku-takot na kamalian kung moralidad lang din ang usapan.
Improper and ungodly are not descriptive to Filipinos alone. Immorality is universal. Remember, no one is righteous, not one.
for those people who used to read and understand the bible or even who believed in God, this tradition is very shameful.."traditions are but rules taught by men" if you believe in the bible, would you agree that God allowed this kind of pratice?absolutely not! because this kind of practices are not writen in the bible nor taught by God.
Kalayaan, Laguna has three major component barangays: San Juan, San Antonio, and Longos. I live in San Juan during my elementary days but never heard of this. Is this in San Antonio or in Longos? The documentary is really a bit pornographic but it's a tradition...
they're doing this for fun. this has been their tradition since time immemorial. and they're not even hurting anyone. who says the church is always right?
Religion sucks.
