Another great cover by Steve. Can you imagine this guy in a bar today doing kareoke. I pity the person who would have to follow him in the rotation. He's the best ever!!!
I have never heard this before by the Small Faces - certainly I have by Del Shannon. Steve and the band though never fail to put their mark on a song and to great effect. Steve's voice never, never fails - magic, always magic. Alison
Nothing with Marriott's soulful, passionate voice on it could ever be described as "shite".
I actually think this is much more listenable-to than Del Shannon's version, with its horrible early synthesiser thingy solo which makes me cringe. Aaargh!! Much nicer when replaced with feedback guitar and Vox organ!
Fair play to the bloke for writing the song in the first place but apparently, he didn't like it much himself!
I never liked The Faces much myself - but Small Faces...mmmmm ;-)
as much better, their own compositions were(legendary)they should have stayed making their own stuff.this comes across as so-so.

May Don Arden rot in hell.
And I agree. History could have been very different if the little lads had listened to the Animals' warnings.

freaking amazing version!
i've loved this version for the last 25 years,
to me it's like a benchmark for a great cover,
love the rolling drums, the singing, the riffs, the chaos,
the bongos, the opening is hilarious!
energy is phenomenol!

Too bad they didn't hit Don over the head with the drum kit - they'd have had a better manager sooner.....

@rocktenniscat They should've taken The Animals a bit more serious.

Judging by the vocal intro, given another day and time Steve might have been an opera singer!

The intro is their then manager Don Arden (father of Sharon Osbourne).
