Quito is a male for owners!!! I had an identical bird from 4 weeks old to 13years old, and I named her Dolly. She was so much to handle at 9 years that I had the DNA blood test at 11 years old and as the literature said she was a he, the flat head is the dead giveaway, also the females are not as colorful as the males by a slight amount but not much....

In Brazil, you need a special license to have this kind of bird too. But in not like this. It's very difficult to get a license beacuse they need a special threatment. I saw an amazon parrot for sale in a pet store in USA, in a small cage. It's not a way to breed this bird. They need a lot of space, a big cage, so they are able to fly. ( It's only a comment.)

If birds don't feel comfortable in an environment they tend to do this. The bird has to be in a natural state of mind. I am sure the bird works great on stage at disney for the fact it "feels" comfortable there. Birds do not like quick changes.
