Should the wife and children of SOs that commited a crime @15 years old or less be victimized through SO laws decades after fulfilling sentences/requirements and never reoffending? Some SOs spend their lives with guilt and the knowledge that they have hurt someone and their families deeply (and should) and can never take it back, can only be sure to never do it again and learn how not to. Why should an SOs family and friends suffer?
How about why should an SO suffer? They get so many years in prison sometimes and still have this thing follow them for the rest of their lives. The victims even move on sooner than it takes for this guy to get off the registry. I understand how distraught families are.. but if they can get over it, why cant' he? Why can't he turn over a new leaf and start over?
I have been on the registry for decade because of a religious groups assholyness? These freaks play god. It is so time to kick them off the bus. Murderous thieves and lairs setting up a bogus slave trade by now making the disabled work for them? After using the network, ram your car and get your info, disable by force and then force too work hurt. The LAW is the sick fucking shit that keeps it and enforces policy that is the harm, by the people setting it up before we were born.
@CYMRUTUBE Yes what a pity. Sex offenders are being singled out and then the scarlet "SO" is placed upon their chest. Not to mention they're supposed to tell everyone they encounter that they are an SO. You know all people have to do is make an accusation that is a lie and the poor person (because they have to continually broadcast their status as an SO) becomes the target yet again.
This is an eye-opening video as the general public doesn't have a clue that this is how the laws are written - requiring someone to constantly tell everyone "watch out, I'm a sex offender!" Of course these laws don't pertain to robbers, thieves, and MURDERERS! Property values would definitely fall with such public displays on the lawn. This is just the tip of the iceberg of unconstitutional restrictions against people who commit these crimes. Prison sentences are enough with counseling.
I wish it was like this for all criminals. Could you imagine if everyone with a sexually transmitted disease had to do this. We would stop having STD's in a lifetime and not hundreds or thousands of years. This is a great idea. The accountability is great. You would be less likely to commit a crime. AWESOME IDEA!!!
he did a bad thing and he doesn't deserve forgiveness. however, we have all done bad things so we should forgive others if we expect them to forgive us.
i think they should make signs for white people to hold so blacks dont get lynched or crosses burned in front of their homes! Just like the law says,, if one does it,, THEY ALL DO IT!
@JeansTake what if someone wrongly accused you and you had to take a plea because this is the only crime for which NO EVIDENCE is needed. Do you want to hold up a sign? Put yourself in their shoes for a minute, because it is easier than you think to become an SO - it only takes an accusation!
Nice video, too bad the laws aren't this loud yet. How many people do these fuckers gotta kill to get off before it comes to this or mandatory life sentences?
Yeah, okay. So you obviously don't believe in forgiveness or time served. The laws are ridiculous and this video was simply making fun of our fucked up laws.
They took ONE extreme Case,, and a few parents who were outraged and not thinking clearly because of their grief and created a law that doesnt prevent anything except people from being able to get jobs!
@joejeep03 It's not about sympathy, but about how the gov't treats everyone with this label as if they are all killers. The general public has no clue about the major restrictions are placed on SOs and their collaterally damaged families after the person puts in their time. It's a never ending punishment.
These laws don't need to be more strict. They need to make sense.Right now we have the police chasing stupid cases that weren't even a crime when we were kids.Registering and tracking nondangerous offenders takes money and man power away from monitoring real offenders that we want watched.Over 90% of sex offender are deamed not a threat by the DOJ. That means we could cut the size of the registry by this much and focus on the real offenders..this is how you protect kids
The justice system does not work anyway. I know two women who were brutally raped and the guy got off due to lack of evidence. One of the guys was actually on the sex offenders register already for sleeping with two minors (12 and 14). It's a waste of time. Now the women have had to move over seas they will never get over what happened but they have new lives. Tougher sentencing is needed for rape and child molesting. Not streaking tho it's pretty funny when you are young!
your a moron, personal anecdotes are not evidence, many guys get unfairly accused of these things, and the courts are useless because being accused automatically makes you guilty in the eyes of the jury.
i too have been the victim of an unlawfully obtained guilty plea to a misdemeanor. at the time i thought it was no big deal (i was 21 and a plumber, no plumbing cos cares about it). when i changed careers 9 years later it was hard to explain away why i busted someone's head, and convince a hospital that i wouldn't hurt it's patients. being counseled to plea guilty when ur innocent is an atrocity. real sex offenders though are diseased people, and i dont think most of them can stop.
I totally agree,,,,and thats with ANYONE!! New Criminals are made everday!!! 97 percent of new Sex crimes are commited by people who arent on registries! But NONE of us is about Criminal behavior,,,and we must remember that,, because the day we forget that,,,we will find ourself behind bars! Not just the young can be influenced,, adults are influenced to make bad decisions also! They can be a Virgin till theyre 18 and still decide to be a slut when they are 20! Choices! decisions!
In Scotland and the rest of the U.K you are innocent until proven guilty. That means the jury do not know about previous convictions until after the conviction has been passed so what exactly is your point zantrua?
Wouldn't that hinder the jury to make a more clear decision behind closed doors? Past convictions are basic facts, similar to a murder weapon; it cannot be withheld or you're going to have a skewed result.
that if you are accused, even if the court finds you innocent, your still guilty in the eyes of the public, and further more, the court will almost always side with the prosecutor and say that you are guilty, because of these afore mentioned societal biases.
its all about societies need to classify and generalize,, it happend with race in the past,,,then racism reared its ugly head again during Desert storm when everyone who looked Arab was assaulted ,, verbally and physically,,,,now when we got past THAT,,, we looked for other ways to generalize and prejudge, and now we have the sex registry! and it will go on and on,, when they finally find a way to outlaw this registry, they will find other predjudices!
Countless innocent parents - who have been acknowledged by the legal system to be innocent - are still on child abuse registries. CPS destroys humanity, while pretending to protect it. BEWARE THE PROTECTORS.
You don't have to even be a rapist to be a registered sex offender. Streaking naked in public will also get you on the registry. As will having a 17 year old girlfriend if you're 20 (in some states). I mean my own mom was married at 17 for chrissake! Does that make my dad a "sex offender"?
@TheMathGuy My grandmother married my 31 year old grandfather when she was 14! And people have also got to realize is that the System uses the word rape very loosely,, I had a freind who tried to kiss his girlfriend, and they charged him with attempted rape! the statues say,, Force or threat of force, but the system has seemed to thrown that aside! In most rape and Child molestation cases , there is little to no evidence and they just coerce pleas cause they dont have enough to convict on!
I think poeple use sex crimes as a scape goat for their guilty conscience,, im ok, as long as i havnt committed a sex crime,,, Its like, i beat women,, but thats ok, i dont rape them! ,im like, WTF? No Physical assault is OK,, Rape,, Beating,,,whatever!! U can make one crime sound worse than one to justify ur own behaviors,, but theives and burglars and wife beaters are going to the same hell as Sex offenders! tell me if im wronge!
Well, I agree with your point that all types of physical assault are atrocious, except for the whole thief/burglary aspect, in some cases- and I say SOME cases. I don't believe you're damned if you're driven by the need to provide for your family/yourself, it's basic human instinct. Now, seriously harming another individual to achieve that? -Well then, THAT can hardly be justified.
you are so right and think you. I interviewed one of these sex crime law makers who told me he owned his wife,,, a bit like that allowed him to justify rape when he was going steady, calling her,, the girl friend,, his like ownership. Maybe that is why these law makers think they should own everything the person who is accused of a sex crime has, like balls or other sports equipment like guns, or just their home, business, cars.... thieves all of them.
dreambro1 I don't think that would be a good idea, there would be signs following everybody around ie. "this guy didn't flush the toilet" If their going to make a sex offender registration, then they should be fair with all crime, I should be able to find out if my neighbor stole candy from a store when he was 10, I wouldn't want a theif next door.
I don't find this funny at all. I have 2 sex offenders who moved a few houses down from me (one is next door) a few years ago. We want to relocate and build our own home & are going to have a hard time selling now because of them. Plus I have a pre-teen daughter who has to be watched when she or her friends play outside because of them. The ripple of their crime spreads and affects more than just them and their victim/s.
If the registry didn't exist, your home value wouldn't have gone down, because it wouldn't be easily found by Joe Public. Also, being registered doesn't mean that sex offenders are dangerous. The USDOJ did a study to see how many sex offenders would commit another sexual crime after release, and the number was only 5.3% in their study. Other studies done by New York's Dept. of Corrections cite numbers around 2.1% to 3%. They're not necessarily as dangerous as you're led to believe.
That's a good point. Most offenders are new to corrections. So there are a large amouunt of people in our communities who will offend and are not yet known by police
Why do you have to watch your daughter because there is a sex offender down the street? You should watch her anyway,no matter what.90% of all abuse is done by someone the victim knows. The point is you should watch your daughter no matter who is living by you? How well do you know all your neighbors?
The Great Sex Offender Myth, most ironic is the thing that tracks the supposed 90% reoffense rate pretty much shows the reoffense rate is quite low; The Sex Offender Registry. If u look at it online year after year, you'll see the same Sex Offenders updated their addresses with their local police. Which means they weren't locked up on new offenses. They can't reregister their address if they're locked up. If they were locked up it would show the jail they are being held.
@NineTailedFox4857 I'll bet nothing has even occurred since they've lived there. What about the others who live around you that secretly could be the ones to fear? ITs best just to be wary of any and all connections, but don't let it ruin your life. Perhaps those people who are SOs were wrongly accused and you don't even know it for sure!
I think Anyone,, under the Right Circumstances has the potential to be a rapest,, drug dealer, murderer, Theif, ,,These spirits can hit ANYBODY! labeled or not! Remember,, Dylan and Eric Cleibold had no Record,, the Oriental guy at Virginia Tech Had no Record. The Riehms guy that raped mulitiple victims at a nursing home,, Had No Record. People need to think and stop relying on some law thats meant to pander to peoples fear, and wont do squat to protect them!
Dreambro1: Are you fucking insane? There is no excuse for rape, EVER. EVER!! They should get the death penalty. Rape is worse than any of those other crimes that you mentioned. It leaves life-long scars that some people never heal from. It's not just another crime.
I happen to know numerous rape victims, only one of whom would rather be dead (he killed himself). The damage to the rest ranged from deeply traumatic to hard to discern (according to them, not me).
In my state, if a 17-year-old boy tongue-kisses a 15-y.o. girl, he is guilty of Rape of a Child. I suppose he should be put to death?
Please calm down & learn to think.
A small number of sex offenders are VERY dangerous. The vast majority of males who cross the line are not.
I'm talking about real rape, ie forcefully making someone engage in acts of sexuality, not bullshit statutory rape charges between consentual partners.
In my state, there is no such thing as "consensual partners" if one is one day under the age of 16. Somehow the ability to consent appears on one's 16th birthday even though the Supreme Court ruled that a 14-year-old is old enough to make an abortion decision without her parents' consent.
But anyway, even "real rape" ranges from vicious, sadistic, life-threatening abduction and violence to "date rape" of varying forms. Should they all be put to death?
For the love of God, I'm not talking about the stupid laws, I'm talking about -real- consent. If the person is willing, they consent, if you force them, that's rape. This isn't rocket science here. How could that have note been clear from my last comment? And yes, if you force someone to have sex against their will, you should be put to death. That shit leaves life-long emotional scars that some people never recover from. There is no excuse, no extenuating circumstances for this crime.
So what about a 13yo girl and an 18yo boy, or vice-versa? There's an age difference of five years, but it's typical to see this kind of relationship in high schools, where a freshman can easily be 13 and a senior 18. Is 13/18 wrong, even if consent is given on both sides? It also doesn't seem like such a big deal ten years later, 23/28, does it? What's really "right?" Why are we assigning these arbitrary ages of consent? Why aren't crimes handled case-by-case instead of one-size-fits-all?
@yoism5 Learn to think? Follow your own advice and stop rambling like a fool. I never said rape victims were better off dead nor would I ever say anything that stupid. As far as your other point, statutory rape is a legal term and does not denote actual rape. Rape is forcing yourself sexually on another person. Plain and simple. It is a crime of hate and violence and has little to do with sex at all.
@yoism5 I was raped twice, and i never thought once about killing myself! Sex is not Paramount to me, I dont put it above everything else! And that was 20 plus years ago,,the perpetrators are now married with Children, and i have not heard about any of them raping anyone or kidnapping any children, they made a mistake, one i had to forgive, lest i become like ur friend who took his life! The devils out to steal and kill, and poison our minds ,we cant hold on to bitterness and blame!
@dark420bishop if we tell people they should be scarred for life, they will,,,,to tell you the truth,, i was rape once,, i chose to move on, i am NOT scarred for life,,although, someone keyed up my 77 Ford LTD once and I lost about a weeks worth of sleep over it! and im not saying Rape is good,,ANY physical or Mental abuse is BAD, its just people put so much stock in sexual, that noone pays attention to wife beaters and school bullys who have also caused people to commit suicide!
Good Idea,, now if we could get that sort of Warning for Drug Dealers,,Robbers,, Burglarers ,, wife beaters,,Murderers,,School Bullies,, and THE WEATHER!!! we would have the perfect world ;-)
