  • Sadistic Sacrement may be the worst idea I've ever heard for Jund, especially in the main-board as you suggested. The reason Jund is great is the card advantage it generates and the constant swings in game state it generates, neither of which are accomplished by SS. By the time you're bloodbraiding you shouldn't care about what the opponent might draw or might cascade into, but rather be running the most efficiant cards to continue to take over the board and hand size.

  • Meh. Play the game however you want. You people are all the same... you state that it's a "Bad Card" when I guarantee none of you have attempted to play it.

Just like the people that stated that Spreading Seas and Mold Shambler would never see standard play and yet they are.

All you people do is give criticisms, yet offer no answers of your own.

  • @dkmode31

I don't like that train of thought. Most of the time the decks that seem the most illogical on paper end up working in a realistic environment in the most surprising ways. It throws people off and ends another threat to your deck.

If you look at Naya Lightsaber even, the mana curve is really bad. I'm sure when it was being developed people said, "This will never work, the mana is too tight." Yet here it was winning worlds against the strongest deck out there.

  • Meh. Won by mana screw.

There are several answers for Jund against Naya Lightsaber.

One of which is Sadistic Sacrament for more of a control build.

Gatekeeper of Malakir for the Untargetables.

The answers are out there... I'm going to try some of them at states this weekend.

  • Actually, with the right mana fixers... some newer builds use Borderland Rangers. Why would I take out Bloodbraid? That's idiotic. And Master of the Wild Hunt? Why even play that card? When in all of David's match up did that card EVER become usable? As what? A Chump block?

AND You can't bloodbraid into it... you CAN however Bloodbraid into the Gatekeeper (With a swamp open for kicker), you CAN bloodbraid into Sadistic Sacrament.

The way Jund is set up now is autolose vs Lightsaber.

  • Well, sadistic isn't the best of best imho. I do agree, getting rid of whatever he needs at that moment, like: ajani vengeant, baneslayer angel or most likely Ranger of Eos helps a lot.

Don't count on to many Lightsabers everywhere though. It isn't that populair.

Personally above all, I favour mind rot. It's the next best thing to blightning, even mentioned by Florens, no deck survives 2 blightning / 1 blightning and 1 mind rot.

    Cheers,

  • I never said that Sadistic was the best of the best, I like it purely because it can wreck a deck before it manages to put threats out.

Mind rot is B and 2 and hits 2 cards... this is BBB and hits 3 cards in the deck. Sadistic is never a dead card... Mind Rot could be... I would rather Bloodbraid into a Sadistic, than into a Mind Rot tbh.

Using Sadistic would KILL Lightsaber's draw engine.

I would probably keep 2 Sadistics main deck and 2 in the side.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • I think what people are saying is that throwing in another spell that costs trip black would be kind of difficult to do with a deck with such a suspect mana base.

  • I understand what they are saying. I've played for 15 years, I understand the mana base.

But Sadistic Sacrament allows you to remove the threats before they become an issue.

And it works so well with Cascade.

The standard Jund build works with 10 sources of black mana and 4 Black land fetchers.

I'm just saying that Jund can be improved on... the cards are out there to do so.

  • "There goes your winner in boros and vs day of judgment"

LOL. Do you not understand what SS does? Why worry about someone using DoJ on you when you can rip it from their deck before they even draw it?

Duress it if they have it in their hand and then SS it completely from their deck.

But like I said to dkmode31, you guys are quick to criticize, yet offer no helpful discussion to the discourse.

I would play Thought Hemorrhage over Duress.

  • You obviously don't. It gets rid of 3 cards not all 4.....i really don't see how getting rid of 3 cards is very good except in combo decks, but not many people are playing those. or how it can be used in jund if the mana is already bad. Hard to cast sadistic sacrament if they have goblin ruinblaster, convincing mirage, or spreading seas. Convincing mirage and spreading seas can be cast way before sadistic sacrament. SS is a good card though. But only in mono black vampires in my opinion.

  • I agree with you completely under no circumstance would i put in a triple black card and when you cascade into gatekeeper without kicker mana its terrible. good comment

  • Just like when you cascade into Ruinblaster without the Red to kick it?

And people play that in their sideboards.

  • Awesome
