  • Hi, thanks I have learned two new stiches with this project. my question is when you are making the cupcake paper and you chain one and turn do we grab that very first stich, which is kinda hard to grab with your needle. thanks again!

  • love love love!

  • Love this thank u for ur videos I wanna learn how to do this I'll have a go. Xx

  • I love all of your videos. They're so inspiring and easy to understand. I like that you take your time in explaining and demonstrating the stitches. Even though I've crocheted for many years, it still is nice to have someone not speed crochet through the tutorials. Can't wait to try some of your projects - just a matter of finding time between school, home and other daily tasks. :)

  • Hi! What is the difference between doing the stitches inbetween rather than through the loops?

  • hey teresa i love this adorable hat I had to make some changed as to fit my nieces head :) and i used a G hook and i didnt make it with the french knots on it i baught glittery pompoms and put them upon the hat as well as a pompom yarn ball on the top she picked this out and picked out the pompom "sprinkles" :) this was another one of your absolutly fabulous videos i was inspired about a year ago today how to crochet from you! your a wonderful teacher thanks very very much! happy crocheting!!

  • @CassieRae92 Sounds like you made a really cute hat with some fun embellishments. Great ideas! Thank you for your kind words.

  • Hi, I've made this hat before for myself. I want to make a version for my friend's new born infant - how early do you recommend stopping the increases in an infant size? Thanks =)

  • @irisx I would estimate between 30-40 stitches. Once the sides start to form, take a measurement to see if it is newborn size. You may need to work less stitches if the size it to large. There will be trial and error.

  • Really nice! Thanks a lot!

  • @tigrastijaodtigra You are welcome.

  • muy lindo,trabajo.

  • @yosoyedithverdejo Gracias

  • How come whenever I do the french knots they always dont work and pull through the hat and there is no knot??!!! ;(

  • i love this

  • @alyv1515 Thank you.

  • Hi Teresa! I'm twelve and you taught me how to crochet! I have crocheted so many things I forgot how many because I learnt it off your great tutorials! I am so excited to make this hat! It looks so cute! I am making the headband bit now! Can't wait to put it on!

  • Could I make the pattern slightly smaller to fit my 10yr. old head? ( LOL )

  • i wanna put it on

  • What could we do instead of the foundation stitch in the beginning? The hat is beautiful!

  • I've been watching you for about a year now and you make every project look easy and fun! Your lucid instructions have helped me tremendously! Thank you! How would I make this hat for a newborn?

  • great wonderful work

  • Hi Teresa, because of you I have come a long way. Your videos are great and your teaching method is so easy to follow. I have now graduated to reading book patterns, and have finished two project and am on a third. I am stumped on one direction, what does the empty ( ) mean? I understand if there are abbreviations in it but these are empty. Please help!! I wish I could upload what I have made from your tutelage but I don't have the ability. Again thank you for your help and time.

  • awesome i love the spinkles technique, the rib stitch i need to learn.thanks.

  • @aihanako1 You are welcome.

  • It's 5:30 am and I finished the cupcake hat! It is so cute. I can't wait to wear it. Thank you for your videos. I am a beginner. I would ask one thing though, could you zoom in really close when you are showing where to put the hook. Sometimes it takes me awhile to figure that out because it does not show up real well on my computer, thanks.

  • @ZenaBattaglia I have some beginner video tutorials that are zoomed up close showing the stitch placement. I will send you the playlist.

  • ahhh omg i love it, I so want to learn how to make it!!How do I know how big or small to make it..I'm beginner never have I ever even touched a hook lol I was wondering if you knew where I should start?!

  • Thank you so much for the video :). It helped so much while crocheting the hat for my daughter! It is going to be one of her Christmas presents and I know she is going to love it.

  • You make it look SOOOO easy lol I have been knitting for several years but I am new to crochet! can't wait to try this hat!!

  • Okay I figured it outa few hours ago. Now I have a crocheted cup cake hat too! :)

  • @un0m3asa13ah Glad you got the cupcake hat to work.

  • I'm too confused on the begining part for the headband...

  • U r so talented.

  • Great gift! I love your videos Thank you sooooooo much!

  • While making the headband for the hat, I found that 46 rows was a tad too small. Even if stretched, it wouldn't fit me. Would adding more rows to the headband alter the pattern at all?

  • @Creahgour You can add more rows to the headband. There are many variables that could make your work turn out smaller. If the top section turns out smaller as well, you will need to add more increase rounds.

  • I love watching and learning from your videos :) Greatly appreciated!!!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

    ~Godspeed

  • @archerphotos You are welcome. :)

  • Hi there,

I love your videos! I am a little stuck though on this one. I checked your vid on how to half double crochet and it's different to what you're doing here. instead of pulling through all three loops you pull one, one and then three. I was wondering is there two different kinds of half double crochets?

I'd really appreciate your feedback whenever you have the time! thanks again! you've been an excellent teacher and I've learned a lot watching your vids!

  • For the cake part you are just goin throughout the front loop right?

  • Thank you so much! I just taught myself to crochet yesterday and I was able to make this hat perfectly for my 3 year old just today! She loves it. She kept asking me for it all day long! I used purple yarn for the bottom (cake) and pink for the frosting with a dark pink cherry :) Its super cute and your video was very easy to follow even as a very very beginner crocheter (if that is a word lol)

  • @eatruex You are doing great to start out on this hat! Keep it up! The colors sound pretty.

  • I know I would never get the hang of this any time soon. I just pick up the looms. But i would buy one of these hats. This is a very good video and I enjoy it very much

  • Instead of fiberfill, could I just wad up some more red yarn?

  • I've been watching your channel since 2007 and I just want to thank you for providing these tutorials.

  • The Crochet Geek is the best out there...Hate the Game Not the Playa! :D

  • @StevieLinn You are kind, thank you. :)

  • Thats not a half double crochet.............its pull through two yarn over pull through two. Your lost laddie.

  • @mrssmallville76 You must not be familiar with the foundation half double crochet. It is a half double crochet.

  • thank you, i made this for my sisters birthday and she loved it! culd you please do a vid on a pumpkin hat next?? :)

  • Can you make a pumpkin hat? I am wanting to make one but need to see it done first. Thanks!!!

  • when your sewing the sides together do you put it through the two loops on the opposite side??

  • @gomeza5129 I sew it together through the same loops that I crocheted through so it will have the same effect. You can't even tell where it is sewn together.

  • I lvoe your vids!! So fun to watch and learn from :D I think your talented at crocheting :3 I hope to make some of the stuff in your vids soon :D

  • @Shurrackia96 I appreciate the comment, thank you!

  • I love your videos, I am really horrible at crocheting but I enjoy them, I'm having my first baby so I am making some hats for winter. I was wondering though if you could make a ducky hat, they're just the cutest thing. =]

  • can you make a pumpkin hat??? id love to see that tutorial!

  • I love all your videos and have been able to do several hats! Thank you so much. Now, I have been trying to do this cupcake hat for a baby but haven't been able to. I cannot match the top and the bottom. What am I doing wrong? How many foundation dc should I have to start? Thank you once again!

  • Can you show how to do a tissue cover? If you can ?Thanks So much!

  • I just wanted to say how much I love your videos. I have two little girls and I love making them things. Thank you so much for your help!!!

  • @CamumoneyzWifey You are welcome!

  • How long does it take to make this?

  • @funlover06977 It will take 2-3 hours

  • @funlover06977 really depends how fast you crochet =/ 2-3 hrs is more like just one section...

  • okay so I'm a beginner at this crocheting stuff and I just finished doing the bottom part of the hat....and it fits tight :/ and my head isnt big at all..I used 100% acrylic 4-ply yarn...I don't know where I went wrong.. I even did 50 rows instead of 46.. is this normal? will it eventually fit? (lol) or do i need to loosen up the yarn when I chain and whatnot?

  • @ZtwerdXP Unless your head gets smaller, it is not going to eventually fit. You may naturally crochet tight. You can add more rows to the base to make it larger. Wrap the headband part around your head every could rows to see if it is fitting correct. Once it fits, sew it shut. You will need to keep that in mind with the top part as well if you need to modify to make it larger.

  • @tjw1963 yeah, my mom says she also has a problem with crocheting tight... I guess that's where I got it from. This was very helpful, Thank You!!

  • This hat makes me smile. :D

  • Wow! you're so talented! Thank you for posting this.

How about if you make a hat that's all light brown and put big dark brown "sprinkles" to make it look like chocolate chips. It'd be a chocolate chip cookie hat! :) If you have a video like that please, do post. the visual/audio works so well for me. thanks! :0)

  • Omg so cute! Going to make this for my moms birthday! It's so cute a fun, she loves to bake so this is great!!

  • @BaileyNicolee97 See if you can get a picture of your mom in the hat when you give it to her

  • I love this hat! So cute! But how would you make it smaller? I would like to make one for my friends daughter and I think I would need it a little smaller how would I do that? Btw great video! I love all your tutorials! Thanks for the videos!

  • @iaaailt You work less of the side band and less of the rounded top to make it smaller. Several smaller hats exist in each larger hat.

  • Love it! Just finished mine. I am so happy with the results. Wish it was winter now though. Next project are your mittens.

    Please keep up doing tutorials!

    Thank you and good night!

  • can u make ur tutorial in a part...i cant open ur video or download ur video cuz my speed internet so slow....thanks before....^^*

  • What is the size of the hat?

  • @vocaloidfandub1 It is an adult size cap, 22-24 inches

  • @tjw1963 Ok, thank you! :)

  • Omg!!! I love these hats! I got one from squidoo and I looooooooooove it!!!! The only difference is that mine is a chocolate cupcake and the sprinkles look different. Love it!!!!!!

  • How to make a crochet cupcake hat

  • Teresa, i just want to say that i love watching your videos. I have made several hats using your videos and i cannot seem to follow patterns at all. I am making this hat for my Niece right now. i would like to make these other hats, but i can't do it without a visual. i am wondering if you could create videos for hats like these......thank you for all of your videos! i really enjoy crocheting when i get free time, it gives me "ME" time and helps me to relax.

  • my link exceeded the characters apparently,..one is a hat/beanie with cat ears, but they arent attached....they are open spaces in the corners of the head,....basically the hat would be a rectangle with one open side...then the other hat would look like sack boy from the game Little Big Planet, but just his head. im going to post the link to the kitty one in two seperate comments first part, then the second part.

  • I`m making this for all of my friends´daughters!

  • @chofascc Please share a picture of the hats when you are finished!

  • i love you tutorials! they're so easy to follow and i can finally make hats now :) ur amazing!

  • I think your are amazing. I learned crocheting about a year ago but only really new how to do the double stitch. you have inspired me, i cant learn from books and always wanted to do other things than double stitch. i never new so many things could be done with crocheting, i thought i needed to know how to knit but you have proven me wrong. thank you so much for showing how to do everything and not just posting brag videos about all your amazing art work.

  • Even though u show it in slow motion it's still 2 fast 4 me 2 understand

  • @Misscutie189 How long have you been crocheting?

  • @Misscutie189 4 2 years

  • @Misscutie189 well for 2 years not 42 years

  • The pencil grip on the hook is ingenious! I stopped crochet because I could no longer hold the hooks comfortably , I am going to pick some up and get some yarn to make this adorable hat for my daughter as a surprise. Thanks :)

  • @canadianmuslimnproud Thanks! I use plastic tubing with the smaller hooks so the grips stay in place.

  • this is awsome.. i've been wanting to have a new hobby. but i could never do this.. I am a visual learner not a book learner.. so this is awsome.. now i can do my own cutesy hats..

  • @Smartlilwitch I am happy that you like it

  • To me you are the crochet goddess! I am total retard at crochet, but ur videos are better than awesome I can't thank you enough! Crochet gives me peace so thanks for showing me how to do it! ;)

  • what is the name of the stitch you are using on the bottom of the hat

  • @koralynn41 It is the rib stitch. I do have a separate tutorial.

  • hello this is great !!! thank's very mucho

can you tell me were con I get the "green thing for my crochet hook ?

  • @elcarova You can purchase them from walmart! They are pencil grips.

  • what size head will this fit? thanks in advance

  • Hello! I'm new to crocheting, but I love your videos! One of my biggest problems is counting my stitches, since I can't seem to understand what one "stitch" looks like. Any suggestions? Thank you!!

  • i'm going to learn how to crochet, any tips for beginners?

  • @lpurple1500 Yes, keep practicing and take an extended break if you start to feel frustrated. When you come back, it will all make sense.

  • Hi Teresa I Was Wondering Do You Have A Left Hand Video For This?!

  • @craftygurl101 Yes there is a left hand version. You will see a red annotation on the left side of the screen. Click on that to be taken to the lefty version.

  • Hi! Teresa, I'm having a problem with the frosting edging. Now when you go do one row, which stitch do you go into? Do it matter? Cause yours look perfecto...would it be the stitch right after the hole you made from the 5 trible stitches???

  • @patricia2uable I am working between the stitches. You can work through the top of the stitch if you prefer.

  • thanks again for the reply..i'm going to try and try again if i don't get it right the first time.

  • @patricia2uable If you are using a smaller yarn or hook, you may need to modify the frosting section of the cap as well. Keep that in mind if it does not fit. Even if you have the edging already, you can probably get away with work more rounds after the edging and do a double edging.

  • @patricia2uable This is an adult size cap. The link to the written instructions is posted in the video details below the video. The video also provides how many stitches you need to start.

  • having a problem with the frosting :( my circle keeps going wobbly and it starts building up by the 5th round like length wise. This is my 3rd time trying to do the frosting, cant figure out what i'm doing wrong :(

    Greets from Germany,

    Moonwalkies

  • @thatkat07 Aside from the time, the cost for materials will be around $5.00

  • hehe at the 11th row I was so happy to see I'm doing it right!! I'm VERY impatient and if I see I messed something up I tear it all apart and then don't try again cuz I'm mad but you made it very clear to see what I'm doing! :) Thank you I'm making and AWESOME cupcake hat now! :D haha I'm only 13 and just started learning to crochet a few months ago from your videos they really help! :P

  • :o I bought mine from Zumiez XD

  • @Kx1942O2212 Maybe one day you will want to make your own.

  • This video has inspired me to get back into doing crochet! Great tutorial :D

  • @RavenBlade234 Just ask if you need help finding a specific tutorial. Chances are great that I have already made it!

  • I love all your videos and have made more than one project following them :] mostly hats.

I learned how to crochet from my mother when I was about 9, it was something we loved doing together. She passed away about 5 months ago and sadly I still do not know all of the tricks to the trade. Thanks to your videos though I can continue creating new things while still doing what my mother and I loved so much. Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent.

  • @XoXomyranda I am sorry to hear about your mom and hope you are doing well! I do have a lot of tip and tricks in video with 600+ crochet videos. Just ask if you need help finding something.

  • Everyone keeps asking where I got my cupcake hat. :] I learned how to crochet when I was 5, but I have tried making things until I was 13. I'm so young compared to other people haha.

  • @padilmj58 This hat is going to be pretty unique!

  • I wanna let you know that my mom and I loved your video.. you are an amazing teacher. thank you so much for sharing this with everyone.. i recently saw this crochet Swirly Ice Cream Cone Beanies online!! is there anyway that you can make a video with a similar pattern?? I will appreciate it..

  • Hi Teresa, I'm only 21 but I love to crochet! It's just so pretty :) Thank you for doing all these tutorials, you're a great teacher!

My little sister's birthday is coming up and she loves panda's. I tried to make a panda hat myself, but I can't seem to get it right. Would you please do a tutorial on how to make a panda hat? Thank you so much!

    Hugs from Belgium! x

  • @EliaPinky Thank you! I was about your age when I learned how to crochet myself.

  • my hat part alllways curls in within the first 3 rounds..eventhough my tension isnt even that tight?what am I doing wrong?

  • I love this pattern, but the frosting portion keeps ending up looking awkwardly small. I think it might be the yarn I'm using, but I just can't seem to get it balanced. :(

  • I'm not sure I'd be able to hold the crochet hook the way you do. It looks a bit awkward. I hold a crochet hook in an overhand style and have been crocheting that way for years.

  • I'm not sure I could hold the crochet hook the way you do. I was taught how to hold it in more of a pencil style.

  • you are a best teacher I taught myself to crochet in 4 hours with your help Thank you

  • you have such a soothing voice, I love watching you crochet <3

  • @ishbo22 Thank you! :)

  • Hey Teresa.. I was wondering if you could please send me along a crocheted hammock pattern for a baby... I have searched and searched and I cant find one

  • @ishbo22 creepy!

  • Cute Christmas presents! this is an adorable project!

  • @MosaicMaiden Thank you.

  • This hat is sooo cute ! However, I didn't know it was an adult size until I was finished with the frosting part. That didn't discourage me. I took some 1/4 inch white stretch elastic and weaved it in and out above the scalloped edge & measured it to where I wanted it to be & simply stitched the two elastic ends together & it gave it a real cute gathered look too ! After that, I attached the headband piece (the size I wanted) to the hat !! It's done !!! Just gotta add the cherry & sprinkles !

  • Love this! This is my third try at this hat. The first two I made before my daughter was born. Since this is an adult hat, I tried adapting it to fit an infant, and.. .just for the fun of it, I made another just a little bit bigger. Lucky I did, because the bigger one, although it didn't REALLY fit her, at least enabled me to get a picture in it (Which, being a photorapher, is what I wanted all along)

It turned out great! Trying again, at least I can measure her head now though! Thanks!

  • @Elliissse You are welcome.

  • @tjw1963 I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS! your a great teacher!!! nice and slow so I can actually understand! my daughter loves cupcakes I cant wait to make this for her! thanks from me catbme

  • so kind for you to share it , thank you so much! :D

  • adorable :) thank you!

  • @Ilansoul You are welcome.

  • Teresa.. I have 132mt and 210mt yarns, how can I know what ply is the yarn?
