Killzone 2 had a shitty predecessor and had to rely on aggressive marketing. Fall of Man was a great predecessor to Resistance 2 but it wasn't big enough to attract a fanbase comparable to Halo. Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 are phenomenal games that are AT LEAST at par with Reach

I really don't know why I skipped this game, I just finished Resistance 3 and wow was I blown away by the intense combat and fluid gameplay that both it's single player and multiplayer provided. I just picked this up today and can't wait to dive head first into this classic PS3 only title!

Now if you don't care for COD and you just want the best multiplayer game. Well first off, you are smart and second off.....
Uncharted 2: third person, still has support from developers and theres a ton of unlockables
Killzone 3: coming out next week, amazing graphics, fun guns and game modes, an AMAZING multiplayer experience.
Bad company 2: just fucking amazing
MAG: This is if you want something serious, you won't be blown away by the graphics but the overall gameplay is second to none in terms of balance and size. It one of the best, 256 players.....
@luizengrazia1 Kinda depends of what you like you should check out the PS Store for demos. But I can recommend Uncharted 2 with its nice singeplayer and cool online alot of shooting and platforming which also works really well online

Resistance 3 is coming out this year and I'm sure the multi-player will last a long time. So wait for Resistance 3 this year and rent Resistance 1 and 2 just for a bit of story.

Resistance 1 was obviously better. Resistance 1 wasn't has cheap. I understood what was happening in the first game. The battles were better the weapon wheel is a MUCH better system.
@iscrewy No, it was messy, cluttered, and the battle wheel, while looking good on paper, made sure you knew EVERY weapon like the back of your hand, and the game also assumed at many points that you had the necessary ammo with you, and when you didn't, you got raped and there wasn't much to do but somehow cheat the system. The non-regenerative health was also annoying. I tried jumping back into the game tonight, almost towards the end at the highest difficulty: nigh impossible.
Guys, I'm thinking of buying Resistance 2, so could you tell me if it's really that good (both multiplayer and campaign). Killzone didn't turn me on, but I am just hooked into Uncharted's multiplayer, and looking for a game that may rival it in terms of fun. Any advice is greatly appreciated ;)
its definitely worth getting. the single player campaign is simply awesome, and although the multiplayer may not be as good as a game like modern warfare 2, its still a lot of fun. you wont be disappointed with it.
Thanks, but I already got it :) You are right, it's awesome. Getting pwned in the multiplayer though. It seems like my weapons deal less damage than opponent's. If you're a vet, can you please suggest a good weapon to use in competitive? ;)
it really depends on what kind of player you are. personally, i use either the wraith or the carbine, but ive always been more of a run-and-gun kind of player. you just have to figure out what kind of player you are, and use the weapons that are best suited for that style of playing.
I am all about run-and-gun too. Of course I'll figure it out sooner or later, but with mostly running and gunning in Uncharted I can get a streak of 40+ kills and like 6 deaths (in Plunder mode). Here, running and gunning always results in a death. For now I like to use the Auger, but it shoots slowly. I'll have to practice, after all, I've bought the game only 5 days ago.
i like the overall concept and story idea. I haven't played either of the games (R1 or R2) but I'm interested to play a game where aliens attack Earth.
i have both, and this definately beats killzone 2. theres more variety, the weapons feel more balanced, response is faster, and even tho there is really no "story" in either game (the main characters dnt really have a personality) u do feel like u are apart of sumthing big in resistance 2, there is that whole saving humanity vibe.. so definately get it

Personally, if you are only getting a ps3 for the first time, get R2. Then get Kz2. Kz2 is for more experienced players.

Resistance 1 was obviously better. Resistance 1 wasn't has cheap. I understood what was happening in the first game. The battles were better the weapon wheel is a MUCH better system.

@iscrewy No, it was messy, cluttered, and the battle wheel, while looking good on paper, made sure you knew EVERY weapon like the back of your hand, and the game also assumed at many points that you had the necessary ammo with you, and when you didn't, you got raped and there wasn't much to do but somehow cheat the system. The non-regenerative health was also annoying. I tried jumping back into the game tonight, almost towards the end at the highest difficulty: nigh impossible.

Guys, I'm thinking of buying Resistance 2, so could you tell me if it's really that good (both multiplayer and campaign). Killzone didn't turn me on, but I am just hooked into Uncharted's multiplayer, and looking for a game that may rival it in terms of fun. Any advice is greatly appreciated ;)

its definitely worth getting. the single player campaign is simply awesome, and although the multiplayer may not be as good as a game like modern warfare 2, its still a lot of fun. you wont be disappointed with it.

Thanks, but I already got it :) You are right, it's awesome. Getting pwned in the multiplayer though. It seems like my weapons deal less damage than opponent's. If you're a vet, can you please suggest a good weapon to use in competitive? ;)

it really depends on what kind of player you are. personally, i use either the wraith or the carbine, but ive always been more of a run-and-gun kind of player. you just have to figure out what kind of player you are, and use the weapons that are best suited for that style of playing.

I am all about run-and-gun too. Of course I'll figure it out sooner or later, but with mostly running and gunning in Uncharted I can get a streak of 40+ kills and like 6 deaths (in Plunder mode). Here, running and gunning always results in a death. For now I like to use the Auger, but it shoots slowly. I'll have to practice, after all, I've bought the game only 5 days ago.

i have both, and this definately beats killzone 2. theres more variety, the weapons feel more balanced, response is faster, and even tho there is really no "story" in either game (the main characters dnt really have a personality) u do feel like u are apart of sumthing big in resistance 2, there is that whole saving humanity vibe.. so definately get it
