I DEFINITELY know where your coming from with the stigma towards sig guitars/basses, it does give the impression of "oh he's trying to be (insert sig. here)", but as long as you don't cop their play style you'll be fine. I have a Geddy Lee sig bass that I do technical death metal on because I love the bright tone and action of the bass. It's all about how you use the basses

i've just bought the k5 about 1 month ago, and it is by far the best bass i've played on.. nothing comes even close to it.. my k5 is my bass number 6 at the moment, and it has beedin the rest by far.

Agree, even though i don't play bass or even own a bass but when i bought my ibanez APEX 2 (munky's signature axe) they also had the K5 so whilst i was w8ing for them to do the check ups n stuff on my guitar i had a go on tht and it's a beauty plays very well, nice neck superb tone brilliant!!! GOOD CHICE DUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!!!lol!!!

the one thing that really puts me off this bass is that its a signatture bass dunno why sig basses and gitars when they for instance say k5 in huge writing on the nek to me it almost shouts im nicking his style so i mean do u know of summin like pretty much the same in the sr range or summin like sr 705 would that be real close to the sort thing you'd get from this?

honestly a prestige 1000 series might be a lil closer to the k5 but if u want the cost to be a factor than id get the 705
