UM, not 1979,, Grace wasn't there is '79 and Donny Baldwin wasn't the drummer then.... the SONG came out in '79,,, and it was GREAT! Still is in fact.

I think I saw this on TV when it first aired. I can't remember but I think it was one of those American Bandstand anniversary specials or something like that. Anyway, this was just after Nuclear Furniture came out, and not long after this, Paul Kantner left the band.
This was one of the songs I remember my dad listening to when I was a kid, he passed away 1 year ago this past Christmas and whenever I hear his music It takes my breath away before I can start to sing along, say hi to him and know that he's in the car with me on my travels.
Grace rejoined them in 1981 when they released Modern Times. I think this is 1983 because Ansley Dunbar isn't the drummer -- it's Donny Baldwin. He debuted in 1983 when they released Winds of Change.
It's from 1984. You can tell because Craig Chaquico is playing that butt ugly Carvin guitar that he started endorsing around that time. I remember the ads in Guitar Player showing him with the same model, only the one in the ad had a natural finish, flamed maple body.
@Kohntarkosz OMG--Carvin guitars. I remember his ads in Cream magazine! Are we dating ourselves? This is such a great live performance. This band was so tight in concert.
@Kohntarkosz OMG--Carvin guitars. I remember his ads in Cream magazine! Are we dating ourselves? This is such a great live performance. This band was so tight in concert. I now can see it's in 1984--Grace looks like she did on the cover of her solo album, Software. That was a good album.
@Kohntarkosz And that was the worst song on the album--why it was released, I have no idea. I'm going to send you some links to some of my favorite songs from that album.
@Kohntarkosz I just sent you two links to Grace Slick songs on YouTube--I hope it works. They were my favorite songs on that album--"Fox Face" and "Me and Me".
I heard them on "King Biscuit" during the "Freedom At Point Zero" tour. " When they did "Jane", it had some extra lyrics before the solo just after the "Were all those nights" part. i've never heard this version ANYWHERE else. Has anyone else heard this performance?
This is definitely not 1979. Check out the hair and clothes. Everybody looks like they have had a bath and don't have the unkept rolling out of bed look of the 70's. Cool video and pretty good audio for a VHS transfer.
@DeepSouthWrestling1 As a huge fan of Jefferson Starship for over 30 years, I have to say that this is the most on target, hilarious comment I've read on YouTube. Kudos to you, my friend.

@TheBeautifulbooboo The only thing i remember from Software was the single, All The Machines, which I recall wasn't too good.

Is that Bill Slais on keyboards?
dkickdrum 1 year ago
The keyboardist is Pete Sears. He and David Freiberg switched off between bass and keyboards depending on which song it was.
