  • Don't judge Norway by this host. Our humor is far better then it seems here and this host normally has guest who are not comedians so he is not used to handeling them.

  • Wow what an awkward weird interview style

  • What happened at the end there?

  • Whose idea was it to invite him on a serious show like this?

  • Norwegians have a wonderful sense of humour. Just look at Uti Vår Hage or Raske Menn.

  • the fuck was that????

  • Good aul Irish sarcasm, so good the rest of the world just doesnt get it

  • @dreoin I get it and I love. I started seeing Dylan Moran's stand-up, then because of that I had to see Black Books, which I now love, and when I realised he was in Shaun of the Dead I saw that again (even though he doesn't a chance to as good in that as he is in Black Books). Oh, and btw, I'm Norwegian

  • O_O Mind. Blown. Can't... eeeeeennnnnnngggggghhhh...

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?

That boring host said "I hope I am" and got a huge laugh and APPLAUSE while everything Dylan Moran said was taken way too seriously. "But don't you think you're a role model?" I laughed so hard at that, and HE was being serious.

  • @PushingPies I have actually never liked this host, but somehow he always get the really famous people to come to his show. He had Robbie Williams twice I think. We need better hosts here in Norway. Britain send someone over!

  • Det är kul hur provocerade politikerna blir av honom! Han är KALL!

  • I sincerely hope people don´t think all norwegians are like this. Some of us actually do have a sense of humor.

  • I felt so uncomfortable for Dylan whilst watching this, how strange to have him on with these politicians.

  • Dylan moran as a role model. Classic.

  • This is so embarrassing. On behalf of all his Norwegian fans i just have to say... sorry.

  • "I hope I am" *proud face* clap clap clap ---- wtf?

  • what a beautiful language :)

  • Uff så flaut... Why Skavland... Why?!? Fuckin nimrod!

  • Honestly. This clip is an embarrassment to the entire country. This chat show host is an abomination and a horrible and inaccuate reflection of the Norwegian people. Believe me, some of us are pretty awesome :D and would treat Dylan Moran a million times better :D

  • It is also a founding member of NATO

  • @Alphaknave-that is a very ignorant statement Norway is rated as the most democratic nation in the world, has the highest HDI in the world, and is rated as the most successful state in the world. You can look this up on the Internet.

  • OMG the guy next to the blonde woman is in love with Dylan. He's starring at him like a puppy at a bone.

  • Norwegians have no humour

  • @sbak030 Yes we do, what are you talking about?

  • You can see his face at 4:18 thinking "why the fuck are they laughing at his shit joke i'm much funnier than him what am i doing here"

  • Norwegians... The only people in Europe that can make Germans seem like the life and soul of the party.

  • @Cytacon Nah, they're funnier than germans and swedes! Aren't they? Germans and swedes can be very boring, you know..: )

  • @KenfromDublin You're taking the words of a comedian waaaaay too seriously. He doesn't believe any of that, and pretty much says the exact opposite of what you accused him of in other interviews. Honestly I think the only reason he ever mentions Brits is to poke fun.

  • @Slaktern i agree with you man,i think it was another mindless comment you should not have wasted 5 seconds typing about though :D

  • I love how the one guy tries to put up valid points and he just ridicules them. Awesome.

  • i love this. put an irish man between scandinavians - and they don't know what to believe, how to act ("he must be serious - we always are") :)

  • @vladutze84 Sir/Lady, I have to tell you that this comment made me laugh almost as loud as the video itself. Thank you so much.

  • Obviously, comedy is in the delivery, which is nuanced. Alot must be lost in translation. Be glad he got the laughs he did. Would we be able to enjoy a Japanese stand up comic if we had some understanding of Japanese through a limited exposure to their game shows and cartoons?

  • Norway: the last Soviet state.

  • @alphaknave I usually don't respond to mindless YouTube comments, but I was interested in know how you could come up with that conclusion? According to your YouTube account you are yourself from the US, a country much more like a soviet state than Norway.

  • @alphaknave What a ridiculous and ignorant statement.

  • @alphaknave Ok, I arn't the person that usually say something to stupid comments like yours, but when you are talking back to my country like it was some kind of Communist party, then I won't sit idle.

You have no idea what you are even talking about, and how did you come up with THAT statement?

I really want to know where YOU come from. I think that we have better chances up here in North then where ever you are coming from!

  • @alphaknave With the best eudcation system, best health system, strong economy, best standard of living, least corrupt country in the world. How is any of that Soviet? Take a look at your own country .... sliding down the education, health, poverty and living-standards rankings every year.

  • <3 Dylan Moran he is AWESOME !

  • my god the interviewer gets the biggets laugh by being a wierdo!

  • i love him and he rocked this

  • Isn't this the guy who played David in Shaun of the Dead who got his stomach ripped open by zombies???

  • @MrGilstorf yerpp

  • Comment removed

  • Why on earth is Dylan on a show with these people?

I can't wait to see him next year

  • @tonyjacksons What's going on next year? Is he performing somewhere?

  • @Cody111079 yeah I'm seeing him in Newcastle, I assume it's a full tour

  • "But... but" [interviewer looks confused as hell] "Don't people see you as some sort of role model???" SO FRIGGIN CUTE, THIS. Are people in Norway really this pure-hearted and sincere? I want to cuddle the interviewer!!! hahah

  • @sferb Ofc!

  • "your problem is that the rest of the world exists" I nearly died laughing. Seriously, so true. There's a reason that the happiest, safest, and cleanest countries in the world are ethnically homogenous and culturally take pride in their language and are defensive at having it watered down. Too bad all Scandinavians will be brown tinted and speaking Spanish in about 100 years :(

  • Skavlan är det, va?

  • Wow. Respect Moran for handling that one.

Norwegians have a very different sense of humour it seems, and a very different way of interviewing people. The host seems to be trying to get Dylan to make jokes about Norway and Ireland, while also deflecting serious questions from the politicians. It also has a weird sort of intervention flavour to it. I mean, who says to a guest on their show 'Have you ever considered giving up smoking?' that's like something the doctor says! Madness...

  • @anarchotrent

It's not that the nation has a different sense of humour, but that the show is for social and political discourse, not comedy, and the audience isn't probably the ideal for Moran's style of discussion. Also, the politicians are protecting themselves and being protected as to not raise controversy and ruin their careers after being newly elected, they can't risk making a joke and affecting demographics.

  • As well, being from a country where the government is trying to remove it from the system and treat it as an equal with alcohol, I can understand why Norwegians would ask such a question. They have to keep an image for their people that smoking must be eliminated and having role models who act against the nation's interests without an open desire for changing their negative behaviours cannot be tolerated.

  • @anarchotrent

Actually, the Norwegian sense of humour is very similar to the British kind. You've got 2 politicians and 1 inane host blathering on here. Please don't take this absolute nightmare of an interview as representative of the people's sense of humour.

  • The old colonialist victim mentality, it must be in the DNA, he keeps repeating 'Britain and Ireland' when referring to Ireland, - like even putting Britain before his own country, and they are asking him questions specifically about Ireland.

Can you imagine a Norwegian being interviewed on Irish TV and he kept answering questions about his own country with 'We in Norway and Sweden...'?

    I don't think so.

  • @KenfromDublin this is a rediculous comment, he's saying britain and ireland because he lives in britain, and has a british wife and friends. nothing to do with a 'colonialist victim mentality', its to do with an ex-pat mentality! if anything it shows you have a victim mentality, because you jump to a conclusion about something without giving it a rational thought!

  • @lukedavoc What does 'rediculous' mean?

I stand by my comment - he's being asked about Ireland - not Britain, and learn to spell before making ridiculous comments yourself.

  • @KenfromDublin oh my god, your one of those people who points out spelling mistakes, well done, good luck with that. back to the point, he doesnt answer any questions about ireland with 'britain and ireland'. he points out differences between britain and ireland and norway!

(im sure your dying to point out that i made grammar mistakes, but i dont care)

  • @lukedavoc I'm one of those people who can spell and who has a low opinion of those who can't, and yes your grammar is appalling also.

My comments remain inviolate, and you still can't spell.

    :)

  • @KenfromDublin rewatch the video mate..when ever he is asked directly about Ireland he answers just about Ireland.. he brings up "i know in Britain in Ireland" when talking about "are politicans role models". he has experience of living in Ireland and Britain so he know's that they are not.. he mentions "Britains and Ireland" again when talking about the "Press" because the guest asked him about it specificaly..

so your "he has old colonialist victim mentality" is basically a load of wank ;-)

  • Aliens take over at 6:03

  • @metalrifle

NO! the subtitles are in norwegian! strange enuff. I dont know why. Maybe...

  • 6:03 on, makes everyone sound like Selkath.

  • Thanks for uploading!!

  • That was brilliant! Go Moran!

  • Norwegians definitely havent the same humour as people from the british isles and ireland. Think of norwegians as ryvita.... dry, stiff and with no taste. The whole country is like an episode of the beverly hillbillies.

  • @ADiscipleOfLife

    Åpen Post, Team Antonsen etc.

    Up yours =P

  • @ADiscipleOfLife I am Norwegian and I find this guy absolutely hilarious, But I do agree that we are very stiff :P

  • amaaazin i wanna go to norway now

  • BLACK BOOKS!

  • I have no image of irland at all as a norwegian. the only image i had was from a u2 video, with the english shooting people. When i went there a few years back i found it to be green and fresh. People were a bit agressive, which i found a bit strange - but give a norwegian a few pints of lager and sure, get it on. I was actually banned from the bar after a little fight. Yet i was at IBM the next morning (and the cider in irland is insane). All around i like irland a lot. Mad, but good people.

  • Being a normal norwegian, I laugh my ass off at Dylan Moran.

I feel ashamed watching this... But then again, I never ever watch this show.

All they ever do is to mock people with creativity above average...

  • You can feel Dylan's wandering and bewildered sense of "What the fuck am I doing here? Why am I sitting with politicians? Why do they care what my perception of Norway is!?" He's screaming inside. lol

  • @UnitedKingdomify We should have sent him to bergen with a little pig. Compulsory on our flights (and busses in the weekend). He he

  • @UnitedKingdomify he always like this in interviews i love it

  • Haha funny! Dylan Moran has a great sense of humour...

I live in England, but I've always said I would love to live in Norway... but people ask me why, as though it were bad or an unusual choice. I think it's a beautiful country, Norwegians don''t know how lucky they are! :P

  • The interviewer is very clumsy, which makes Dylan look even more brilliant. I like his prejudices about Norway as a country with 0 problems, that's kind of how us Swedes think as well (even though we too live in a rather privileged country). There's kind of swedish joke about Norwegians saying something unfortunate, like "my mom died yesterday." That sentence would with the melody of the Norwegian language sound to us as if it was a very delightful experience (:

  • LOL "We are going to talk about monogamy now."

    hahaha wtf? XD

  • Man Moth?

  • its weird how the audience laugh and even applaud the presenters quite basic and obvious joke (4:08)?

  • Ha ha!! that was strange slash very funny!!!! I know this is Norway but id love to know what kind of show this actually was? I think we have these kind of shows here in Ireland (political) but fuckin hell they would never bring a comedian on.

Im gonna commend you Norwegians for "mixin it up" a little

  • I love Skavlan (the host). He's hilarious, but all of a sudden switching languages doesn't work. Few people are comfortable trying to be funny in a second language. Skavlan is already an exception as hosting a tv show in Sweden too. I've seen a few of these shows, and they can be laugh-out-loud funny, but then the English-speaker comes in and it just goes "bleh".

  • seriously though, all his answers are hilarious, ALL OF THEM

  • I know it's been five years but any chance of seeing the rest?

  • It said "Man Slapper" haha

  • what is Smeg?

  • @empoeta

when you don't clean your penis... you get smeg under your foreskin, lol

  • @empoeta It was a brand of kitchen items back in the 70s or something. Those big, bulky, roundish fridges and such.

  • this was akward

  • Is it just me, or does Dylan say at 4:32 " That's not the case in Britain or Ireland"

And the subtitles say "det er ikke tilfellet i England eller Irland"

    It replaced Britain with England!

Britain is made up of four Countries, England, Scotland , Wales and Northern Ireland, people sometimes think that Britain is just England, it isn't : )

  • @theunderone1 As far as I knew Britain was England, Scotland and Wales whereas the United Kingdom was those aforementioned countries and Northern Ireland.

  • @theunderone1 schmuck

  • Oh my god, look at how uncomfortable they are!! I love it!

  • @GwenBsMule Not uncomfortable, just Norwegian. ;)

  • Dylan Moran performed in Oslo yesterday. I couldn't see a single empty seat, and we were all laughing our heads off. So I guess some of us might have a sense of humor after all.

  • @skalldyrkongen i think people in norway have really good sense of humor, i met few of them, and my god they were really funny. dylan is as good as it get on stage ,,,i think the combination of comedian and politician has never been good idea lol if you see what i mean, and that's coming

from stand up comedian (not as good as dylan) all the best

  • @fidodi164 I agree. I love Skavlan (the host).

  • Jeg kan ikke tro at Dylan Moran har vert på tv her med statsministeren og jeg ikke har fått det med meg. Han er favoritt komikeren min. Takk for at du lasta klippet opp.

  • Dylan Moran opptrer på folketeateret i Oslo den 8 April.

  • dylans very dead pan weird watching him be out dead panned

  • the two people with him are politicians, and therefore soulless ghouls with no sense of humor :P

don't judge the Norwegian people based on those two ;)

  • @evilblades no, that was your one chance Norway and you fucked it up, no second chances.

  • what if we sacrifice some virgins or something? im sure we have some laying around somewhere. :P

  • I don't know, seems like a waste of good virgins, how about you just publicly execute these people or at the very least make them sterile.

  • @Dufflad101 the way they are running the county its probarbly the way its going, so yay :P

  • Si-Fi conventions

  • Hey im norwegian and I love Dylan Moran, I dont like the intervjuer in this clip, he is boring, not very skillfull, Playing it safe and no intelligence that could match Dylans. They got the humor all along, but the Politicians are afraid to make a fool out of themselves so they just shut up and smile stiffly.

However we have some great Norwegian comedians and I would love to see them intervju Moran that would be a difrent ballgame. Norwegians have good humor:-)

  • omigod they dont get our humour at all =O

  • Didn't you notice people laughing? :)

No, we get it; we love Irish and English humor. Norwegian humor is in fact itself not that different; they're all rather dark. But the people you see here talking with Dylan are all doing it in their third language, and as such it complicates the flow and the dynamic of the subtleties. These things forces their reaction and comeback to be slow and conservative.

Having said that, though, Dylan wiped the floor with them. Loved it. :)

  • @raychyrara1 Of course we do. He's really famous here, but those are politicians. What makes it worse, is that they're Norwegian. If they say something silly, or fucked up, the media will fuck with them for 6 months because nothing ever happens in Norway. :P

  • haha ok ok guys fair enough i owe you an apology!i suppose the language barrier was a factor! glad to know norwegians arent aliens after all (joooke jooooke) ;)

  • It wasn´t a bad interview. Very decent. I would love to hear more about monogamy thing - at the end.)

  • @smaakjeks

Well then I apologize; clearly that comment wasn't as funny as it sounded in my head.

No, I know not all Norwegians are tight-assed. I was just commenting on how the two government officials seemed to expect a very conservative, serious discussion, and I found it kind of a shame that Dylan Moran's jokes were more or less lost on them.

On a side note, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your politeness. Courtesy is the one thing that's missing on the Internet.

  • Norway needs to use some of their extra cash to buy themselves a sense of humor.

  • @Redemption46

Yeah, how do you think I feel being a Norwegian, watching these people embarrass themselves to Dylan and any of his fans watching. This talk show is just painful to watch in general.

We don't all have a broom up our arse, though. Honest!

  • He's a classic wherever he's put. He survived that well.

  • Watch this instead:

"Kate and Matthew for Fool's Gold (English Subtitles)". (type this in search).

Interview with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey by the norwegian comedian Truls Svendsen. They can't stop laughing!

  • I'm norwegian, and I love dylan moran. Never watched this episode before though even though I've seen this show many times.

  • btw it was kinda awkward to watch...

  • I'd love to know what you, as a Norwegian, thought of this interview. Did you find it at all strange, or uncomfortable? Some things Dylan said were met with some umcomfortable silences. What did you think?

  • As a Norwegian/British halfbreed, I can point out that the few times there were silence amongst the audience were most likely the result of them not understanding the humor, or the words he used. Like the "herring" joke, probably not everyone new that "herring" in Norwegian is "sild", therefore they didnt get that it was supposed to be a joke.

Or not, could be they found him to be a bit of a dick.

  • Ok, first of all; Except for Dylan, the panel consists of politcans who's just finished their campaign for office, a period in which they have to be very careful not to offend anyone.

Considering most politicans are boring to begin with, that doesn't help.

Secondly, I believe the audience mainly consists of people 40+.

They just don't get sarcasm and black humor.

I'm pretty sure most younger Norwegians would laugh their asses off.

  • @Erikmy so true, Norwegians love black humor xD

  • @Erikmy We do, we do ;)

  • @Erikmy we're laughing and laughing! Love the comment about fish and oil, it's very true :D

  • @Erikmy yes indeed they would. this is brilliant. but it's so funny, i grew up in norway in my teens and this is exactly what loads of people who are over 40 are like. Norway is a country that is strong on tradition.

  • The only people who doesn't understand or speak english in Norway are basically old people and idiots. So cut the language barrier crap. Norwegians aren't some homogeneous happy crowd who doesn't understand sarcasm and dark humour either. We practically live in the dark for six months a year for christ's sake. Dylan Moran is a great comedian, who I believe transcends the possible cultural differences - at least between such similar countries as Norway and Ireland. Boring people are everywhere.

  • @whorftech God i know.....I'm one of them.

  • is anyone else seeing these interviewers as very , iduno scary ot something there terryifying, maybe its the time of night when i go mad

  • im 7 and watching dylan makes me want to smoke.. all the time...

  • Poor Dylan, he just wants to make people laugh, he didn't ask for political debate with the Norwegian government!

  • Now I want to smoke.

  • This is uncomfortable to watch. People are saying it's because they're norwegian, but Dylan Moran is very popular in Scandanavia. I think the awkwardness comes mostly from the fact that they are politicians and very concsious of themselves.

  • This video, was extremely weird. I can't believe Dylan Moran kept cool.

  • "we're going to talk about monogamy now"

    "err, ok"

    haha!

  • Agree with most of what ceara619rocks says except "Plus I'd say most of the audience doesn't even speak English. " As a native English speaker having lived 20 years in Norway, I can testify that the proficiency of most Norwegians to speak English actually hinders one's progress to learn Norwegian.

  • Veldig merkelig intervju.....

  • That was fucking weird to watch. People, be frightened of Norway.

  • that male politician scared me! his eyes don't change when he smiles. a sign of evil I think...

  • also, there is no unwritten law or fact saying that dylan is very funny. it depends on interpretation and culture, obviously.

  • i think i have some idea as to why they didnt laugh as much as you all would have liked them to. basically, most norweigen people are very nice and dont really need any kind of comic relief to brighten up their lives as their lives are already very nice and full of beauty. dylans humour is quite dark and takes a bit of thinking about to understand. i dont think that norweigen people really connect with his personality or his humour. also, he doesnt come across as being very empathetic.

  • @NoHiddenNames Spot on!

  • @NoHiddenNames please explain in norwegian

  • i cant, i dont speak norwegian unfortunately.

  • well done dylan, good show lad.

  • Its not that they and the audience don't have a sense of humor. It's because English isn't their first language so there will always be gaps of information that they won't understand. Plus I'd say most of the audience doesn't even speak English. Plus the things Dylan says are really bizarre at times and you'd have to be British or Irish to understand.

  • wow they were so lame, the dude was hilarious

  • Oh my god, its embarassing as wathcing fellow norwegians not being able to take Dylan Morans jokes. Especially the host, its pathetic.

  • this was kida stiff yeh. He usually have better shows. More relaxed. He seemed nervous actually. Watch the episode with Robbie Williams. Thats a great one:D

  • HAHA! I think Dylan Moran is one of the funiest persons in the whole fucking WORLD!!! xD

  • I think they have problems with sarcasm....good thing they invited dylan moran to the show lol!

  • How did they not find that funny?

    :O

I love his face at 4:17

  • the person who invited him to the show must have had a real laugh!

  • This audience has no sense of humour or a really dry one anyway dylans great comedy is wasted on these silly people

  • Dylan Moran gives an absolute genuis performance throughout and barely gets any laughs, then at 4.13, the presenter says "I hope I am" and gets the biggest laugh of the night! WTF?! Dylans face at 4.17 is just saying "That gets a laugh?! THAT GETS A LAUGH?!"

  • hardly anyone understands what he's saying!

  • I know i was like WTF?

  • haha i know what the hell?! They have a very strange sense of humor over there ...

  • Haha we live in an extremely privileged country lol, Dylan mustve laughed them out on his way back home

  • Lol, this makes for some awkward viewing. The politicians are afraid of their life to say anything!

You've got some 'unusual' ideas for tv in Norway that's for sure! Definitely wouldn't work here that's for certain, lol!

  • what a weird language. they should ban. could barely understand it.

and don't get me started on the Norwegian.

  • norwegian is the most beautiful language on this earth ;)

  • There are lots of languages you'll never understand sir(/troll). That's called diversity, welcome to Earth. ;)

  • the first 3 minutes made me want to curl up into a ball.. the forced laughter, oh! he is amazing! :D

  • My god she's a twat.

  • Skavvlan!

  • Caught his show in stockholm. I thought I would die from laughter. Funniest commedian right now definetly!

  • You jammy dodger..He's an absolute legend..Did he do all new material or old stuff?

  • He was in Bergen? And I missed it? *dead*

  • Its almost like he's being interogated. I cant spell that word.

He's so twinkly and funny :)
