I'm pretty sure that they were trying to show one of the problems with America today through a joke, but since most people are morons, they relate to this and continue to do it. Do what you love and don't stick your life in a dead end job. People said Matt Groening wasted his life watching tv but he did what he loved and proved them wrong. I would rather have everyone putting their all in their job and love it instead of hating it.
