  • GOOO CANADA GOOO

  • i found you matt lauer. You can't hide.

  • how can americans manage to be so stupid

  • Very carefully.

  • @REdCr0ss98

HAHAHA omg you actually followed me to another video ?!

youre pathetic dude, how desperate are you to put down canada? are you scared or something lol?!? another stupid american, doesnt know the world hates him

  • He's 12. He doesn't know a thing about life. Just let the little guy be. Be in his ignorance.... yesss.

  • The world doesn't hate someone for being an American you ignoramus. I'm sick of hearing that inane bullshit, you should feel embarrassed just for having said/thought it. Maybe climb down off your imaginary pedestal and realize you 'are' the stupid ,arrogant douche you claim "Americans" to be.

  • and offfffffff course...AMERICA is in 1st place!!!!

but what else would you expect from the greatest nation in the history of the universe??????

  • hm well see who has the most gold medals by the end of the day

btw usa has ten times the population of canda, keep that in mind as we whoop your ass in hockey, curling and everything else :)

ps. its called usa,not america. america=canada, usa and mexico. lol so dumbb, typical thought hes from the states

  • AMERICA is already beating the shit out of Canada. You seriously are fucking stupid kid.

  • Ya, lets see on Sunday who wins the hockey game.

By the way relax. Canada is suppose to win most of their metals towards the end of the games,

  • sounds like someone suffers from the very typical "Canadian Inferiorty Complex"

  • Hockey isn't even on the map here in the states compared to other sports like football and baseball and basketball. You canadians on the other hand invented and live for hockey yet went 50 years without winning the gold medal at the Olympics. That's rather pathetic if you ask me.

  • @dsfddsgh

Wherever there's a country showing national pride, there's a jealous American rearing his ugly head...

  • Jealous of what? A bunch of Labatt sucking hosers? LOL

  • @dsfddsgh no need to get nasty friend. Would you rather have another country on your north border?

  • I doubt he knows geography!

  • @NorrinRadd9 You're right, what was i thinking?!

  • Yes, just like the U.S. Baseball team, 1 gold in 5 olympics..And more than half of the U.S. were filled with Steroids at the time!

  • dsfddgh, hockey is more popular on an international level then any sports popular in the USA such as football or baseball. thus many more teams competing and with canada being one tenth the size of the USA population-wise its pretty amazing they are able to be the top hockey nation in the world, with countries like Russia and USA in the mix. and wat are you tlaking about they just won gold in the olympics :S americans are so badly educated it makes me laugh!

  • @REdCr0ss98 Pride cometh before the fall... but congratulations on all your countries success.

  • you say congrats but deeply ur just jealous and suffer from the canadian inferiority complex hhahhaHhHAHHAhHhHA

  • @REdCr0ss98 Once a troll always a troll. P.S. Only Americans put hahahahahaha after their own self-amused comments, but then I guess simple things amuse simple minds.

  • @REdCr0ss98 wow, you're a tool. more like the canadian SUPERIOR complex. Let me know when you find one canadian who feels INFERIOR to an american, oh wait, it'll NEVER happen.

The world loves canadians, the world hates americans, we've got nothing to worry about.

  • @REdCr0ss98 you get your facts from urban dictionary? haha wow you make americans look so fucking stupid. Americans are hated all over the world... its not for no reason, u dumb motha fucka

  • I have lived in Canada for 43 years, and I have yet to meet a Canadian who feels inferior to Americans. The 2010 olympic games are going well, morale is very high in Vancouver and across Canada, as Canada now has 10 gold medals (that's one more than the U.S.!). GO CANADA! Probably the only thing that you have that we would like to have is some wonderful Florida sunshine on a cold winter day. Oh, I do have to say that I grew up on MIchael Jackson music, so that's another great American asset

  • Correction: You've never met a Canadian that ADMITS to feeling Inferior to Americans.

    But they all do.

    xD

  • @REdCr0ss98 none do

    cuse we're deffnitly not

lard asses. go back to mcdonals

  • @thea9433 ....please buddy get your head out of your ass. (upthewazzu) you are right he does not represent the moths of Americans. I am a very PROUD Canadian.

  • There may be many Americans who feel superior to Canadians, but I've never met a Canadian who feels inferior to Americans..

Most Canadians I know would be reluctant to live in the States because it has more crime, violence, and poverty. Most Canadians enjoy their universal health care. Most Canadians find the United States too conservative. Most Canadians make sure to sew Canadian flags onto their backpacks when they travel in order to avoid being mistaken for Americans.

  • @420bmxr this vid was added a year ago dumbshit

  • Only year away! Thats bull shit It was today Get with the times XD

  • rest in peace Nodar Kumaritashvili, u will be remembered.

rest in peace vancouver opening, u will be forgotten.

  • @darlsd

you said something right and wrong.

  • rough start: one athlete dead, torch malfunction at the opening.........

  • Oh, I forgot a horrid performance by kd lang and some french guy, now that was pretty bad.

  • The Frenchman was the only song I liked, everything else was just poor taste.

  • Well as long as you enjoyed the Opening, im happy as a Canadian

  • hold on, the segment with adagio for strings was incredible and maybe the best moment in any olympic opening i've seen. joni mitchell segment was also great, as were the visuals. french guy, i'll give you that...i personally didn't like the fiddle segment at all.

  • a luger just died in vancouver :-(((((((((((

  • Watch the olympics streams in HD at LiveSportsParadise (dot) com

  • Anyone see when that idiot Al roker ..getting all childish and rude to Meredith when he was reporting back the weather in rainy conditions? not in this clip..but i saw it on my live stream of today show. Meredith was saying about the warm chairs she and Matt were sitting on..and that must have pissed Al Roker off. Meredith responded by saying "whats the matter with you, your the one who wanted to be a weatherman"

  • @Tennessee44444 what city isn't filled with drug addicts and gays you noob

  • 1 more day.

  • I can't wait for the Vancouver Olympics to end so that we can find out how much more it's going to cost us. How many more schools will have to close, how many more government services will have to be slashed.

  • 1 day left

  • oh Boy ! NBC doesn't know that they are getting into.the long range forecast is DISASTEROUS. i,m from Vancouver .you can expect Dark gray gloomy clouds and Rain Rain Rain hanging over the Mountains for Days.El Ninjo is here and that means watch everything MELT melt melt.Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world when you can see it.

  • canada all the way

  • 4 days

  • @heelylover117 Yup, the Olympic flame is going past my home on Adanac and Boundary. I'm hyped. GO CANADA!

  • @ BTC141:Thats so awesome! its in 2 days now! did you hear the opening ceremony supposed to be for 2 and a half hours?

  • i meant 4 and a half hours.sorry:)

  • Just a thought - and I am not trying to be harsh but if the thought is that we should pay for the games because there are homeless and other needy people. In that case, mankind should have never done anything ever, as there has always homeless and poor people. Cancel the Oscars and Superbowl - think of all the homeless people you could house with that money. The list is endless.

  • Waynewin, no harshness taken at all, you bring up a great point.

You could argue also that promotion of arts and sports is of great public benefit, even or especially to poor people, and I would agree. Arts and sports keep kids, especially poor kids, away from drugs and crime while simultaneously also giving kids motivation. The arts increases intelligence and athletics make people more healthy. I think public and especially private investment into arts and athletics is wonderful (cont).

  • Now, the Super Bowl and the Oscars are privately funded, so I don't think those are the best examples. I think people have to have at least some degree of private property. While I personally don't care for the Super Bowl and the Oscars as entertainment, there should be a final goal for the artists and athletes who work hard. The NFL and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences do somewhat provide it. So I don't object to those. It's the use of PUBLIC money that's wrong (cont).

  • I don't object to the public use of money to fund arts education or public parks for instance, as I believe they have substantial public benefit. I do object however to the public use of money to fund an international NGO more, far more, money than the Canadian Medical Research Institute on a TEMPORARY event which will ultimately benefit developers and predominantly wealthy individuals AT THE EXPENSE of poor people and the greater population (cont).

Sorry I'm long winded, but this is complex.

  • If the Olympics were privately funded at didn't cause the problems they did: developers evicting poor people in the Lower Eastside in exchange for wealthy condos, damage to the environment, etc. Go for it. Unfortunately that's not the reality surrounding these Olympics.

One guy had a great idea to have the Olympics in one place every four years, like Athens. You reuse existing infrastructure and avoid a lot of problems. The original Olympics were always there. It is in the Olympic spirit.

  • Its estimated that it will take Vancouver a century (yep, over 100 years) to pay for the Olympics. It took Montreal 43 years.

  • Your facts are really off my friend. The Montreal Olympics were in 1976. If it took 43 years to pay off, it would've been paid off in 2019? I think you can see the flaws in that. $6 billion is about the price tag on the Olympics to date, not $12 billion.

    vancouversundotcom/Sports/Olympics+bill+tops+billion/1207886/storydothtml

I do however, agree with your overall opinion that the Olympics are not and ultimately will not be good for the City of Vancouver.

  • oops, that was supposed to be 34 years :)

Theres another $6 billion in infrastructure, carbon offset and legacy projects that Vanoc doesn't include in their calculations. That hydro project for backup power which flooded out a valley and is in an animal migration route isn't even mentioned and is worth $2 billion. The Eagle Bluff highway is also not factored in. And what about interest on that money... keep adding and counting...

  • @BloggerMusicMan

Montreal still hasn't payed off their Olympics. They just payed off their massive Olympic stadium (known to the people of Montreal as "The Big Owe") in 2006.

Hosting the Olympics is, more than anything else, a statement of priorities. The city is willing to spend $6 billion (a generally accepted figure of the cost of the games) on a two week long sporting event, but will spend nothing on the cities drug and homelessness problems which are the worst in Canada.

  • You're absolutely right on everything you say. Yes they did pay off the Olympic Stadium only in 2006, I'm not sure what other debts from the games there still are, but I think Montrealers would take back the Olympics in a heartbeat.

I love sports, but I love people and the environment much more.

  • Vancouver's Olympic budget could've paid for:

-Construction of six state of the art hospitals

-Four year tution fees for 100,963 UBC medical students and the salaries of UBC's 587 full professors for 73 years

-All of the social welfare programs on in the Downtown Lower Eastside that receive government funding for more than 16 years

    -20,000 units of social housing

Have a great Olympic Games everyone!

  • Easy dude, last time I checked we are not a communist country. Perhaps we should live on farms making 6 Rubles a day? Next time, you may also want to inlcude a little thing called "Revenue" when doing your calculations.

  • @Hannibal1216

As of right now, $6 Billion have been spent on the games, and the expected return is going to be $1 Billion. That's $5 Billion dollars of tax money spent on the games. You're right, Canada isn't communist, because if we were communist we wouldn't tax everyone to pay for an event for that 90% of people in Vancouver can't afford to take part in.

  • Don't complain to me man, take it up with the Vancouver Olympic Committee. If you don't want this Olympics, there are plenty of other cities in Canada who would kill for it. It is a huge honour and puts Canada on the world stage 2 or 3 times ina century. Once in a while we must invest in our global image as opposed to pissing it away on the same socialist agenda.

  • The Olympics aren't going to help our "global image". There are 2000 more homeless because of the Olympics.

As it stands now, more than two thirds of Vancouverites don't think the games are worth the money spent on them. The games have overall decreased the standard of living in Vancouver. Our right to free speech is in question. There are cameras and police on every corner. There are more military here than there were after World War II. It's embarassing.

  • thats 16,000 more homeless my friend.

  • @shiprecords

I'm okay with paying for that tax money and I think everyone should be okay with it. THIS IS A FREAKING ONCE IN A LIFE TIME OPPORTUNITY TO HOLD AN OLYMPICS IN YOUR TOWN.

I'm tired of all this complaining and whining about how much everything cost. Fuck all of you sad serious fucks. Enjoy your miserable lifes.

  • @10020113001

The point I'm trying to make is that the Olympics are happening at a huge expense to people who don't want it. Like I said, since we won the Olympic bid, the number of homeless people in city has tripled. I could max my credit card, take out a huge loan, and go on a trip around the world and it would probably be a once in a lifetime opportunity, but it would still be pretty stupid and nobody else would do that if they were going to be the one who had to pay for it in the long run.

  • @shiprecords A reporter in Italy who was commenting on 2010 mentioned that Torino Olympics 4 years ago wouldn't be paid off for another 15 years or so. They lost just under $1 billion. He then said Canada must really like hockey if they are willing to spend $10 billion on a game.

  • I was merely saying it's unwise to spend public money on the Olympics rather than on health care, education, homeless shelters, etc. You don't need to get into this whole communist shtick.

And about revenue, how much of that revenue will be needed to pay off the debts from the Olympics? I've heard figures as low as $1.5 billion (equal to Montreal's debt that took 30 years to pay off) and as high as $3 billion. The Olympics are not making a profit, only debt. Sorry.

  • OK, the cost of the Olympics was grossly underestimated by the VANOC and goverment. You are however getting unprecedented publicity and of course it will boost our global image, just have a look around youtube alone. It is easy to say that any investment we make towards our reputation and advancement in the world could have been spent on social reform and the underprivileged. This approach however will never move us forward on the world stage which for some of us is important.

  • Improving a cities image should be up to the people who make up the culture surely. Why should that be a matter of public policy? Being ranked the third most livable city in the world based on the way that public money is used on necessary public investments should also improve your image too shouldn't it?

I'm not suggesting we just scrap the Olympics. Having an international sporting competition is fine and good. Have it run privately and in Athens every four years and I'm happy.

  • $12 billion would buy a lot more than that. Just the interest on that would permanently house 10,000 people.

  • You are assuming the whole $12 billion would have been spent on housing the homeless so your numbers are way off. Its not like this $12 billion was exclusively taken out of the budget for social housing.

  • no, thats just the overall debt accumulated.

  • wow the sarcastic youtube comments continue

  • USA! USA!! USA!!!

  • CANADA!! CANADA!! CANADA!!

  • yeyeye feb 12! hopefully this will unite the world once again in my country!

  • can you please leave Al Roker behind....

  • Whistler, Canada. As a Canadian, this sounds strange in that Canada is such a hugh country. Like saying Los Angeles, United States. Or Springfiled, United States (doesn't really tell you where it is). Since Whistler is so small, it would better to refer to it as Whistler, B.C.

  • Comment removed

  • LAWL. she said "salut" do a vancouverite! we are the furthest away from quebec you can possibly get. most people dont speak a word of french! LAWL

  • im thinking about moving to vancouver from europe is it the best city in canada or should i move somewhere else instead

  • im in vancouver and this year is a RECORD FOR NO SNOW AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH everyones scared we had 2 cm in december wtf is going on the olympics will be a fail

  • If you're coming to Vancouver, can you please bring about 6 billion dollars to pay for all this nonsense. btw...the skating oval fits perfectly into the surrounding environment? It's built on a flood plain (Richmond is 1m above sea level on average) that will liquefy in an earthquake...Burnaby would have been better location.

  • Winter Olympic sports are stupid. Since when is going down a hill on a sled a sport? Praying for rain so the homeless people from Alberta don't all die.

  • Well, the Vancouver Winter Olympics are going to be a big "BANG"

  • haha... you know something don't you? I think i know what it is.

  • yeah, lol

well the LAPD creates a Terrorist iWatch video earlier this year, a CIA base is destroyed, 8 people are killed, numerous airline threats/scares, Ammonium Nitrate missing near Vancouver (Which was apparently recovered, BS, I think it wasn't suppose to go to the media about it going missing, and now the company is covering their ass)

BTW, in the iWatch video, they zoom in on the bag of A.N

    (Brainwashing)

but ppl can't add this shit together, cuz they are a bunch of sheep.

  • the pacific northwest refers to the united states

Vancouver is called the lower mainland

  • you know what? your brain is fucked up. Noone will listen to you so go fuck a horse.

  • @yujinaji actually a lot of people listen to me and appreciated what i had to say in the video...

so go enjoy bangin your pony, pottypants

  • @stephenpaultaylor why don't you stick a bullet in your head if you have to be so fuckin negative

  • because i enjoy life

  • @stephenpaultaylor: If you have nothing to hide, why can't you put up with approximately 2 weeks of "Orwellian" style security enforcement? I'd rather we had TOO much security than not enough come game time. Unfortunately, because of our foreign conflicts, we have become a very real target for extremists. And the Olympic Games would be a great opportunity for them to make a statement. I say the more "Orwellian" we are in february the better. GO CANADA!!!

  • first off, im not in vancouver. im in berlin. i have no interest in being there furing this fiasco.

i have no idea what you mean about the foreign conflicts. canada is a pretty neutral country. what the hell are you on about? extremists? you are sounding like a backwoods american redneck "those goddamn ragheads trying to attack our sacred nation!" ...

i grew up in canada and i have never known it to be anything but neutral. this orwell bullshit is a killer of freedom.

  • By "foreign conflicts" I mean our ongoing war against the Al-Qaeda in a country called Afghanistan. You may have heard of it? When I say "extremists" I mean those who believe that their god intends them to kill as many westerners as humanly possible. I was born and raised here in Canada, and I am of Middle Eastern heritage. So much for the validity of your statement. Please stay in Germany permanently, that's where Canada likes to keep its trash.

  • You sound like a brainwashed, Fox news loving American. Living proof that North America is going to pot. When has Afghanistan ever attacked Canada, MORON? Thats also NOT the reason we are over there. We are over there to assist the US in clearing up the conflict, even though it shouldnt be our battle. You are so brain dead it totally blows my mind. And yes, I will stay here, because Canada is full of scary idiots like you. Drop dead.

  • God, I reread your comment and boy, you are incredibly dumb. Wow. Just astounding.

  • Where in my comment did I say Afghanistan attacked Canada? Also, where did I give a reason for being there? I simply stated that we (as a part of a coalition) are fighting a war against a terrorist group called AL QAEDA which so happens to have a stronghold in a country called AFGHANISTAN. When someone lacks the basic ability to construct a meaningful and well-supported argument, they often misinterpret and distort the words of others. Please learn how to read before trying to argue a point.

  • anyone who follows up their weak argument with "go canada!" loses all of my respect.

to boot, it's not "our" war. it's the US and we're following in their footsteps because we have a weak prime minister with no backbone or integrity.

if you watched my video you might have a slight inkling of what my point is, but if you don't, fine. keep toting your ridiculous "go canada", patriotic bullshit. nobody's listening. we're just a tiny country in the back pocket of the states... nothing more

  • and to boot, we are not and have never been a "very real target" for extremists. that's the most ludicrous thing i have ever heard.

  • @stephenpaultaylor "we're just a tiny country in the back pocket of the states... nothing more"

    What a defeatist attitude.

  • The truth hurts

  • Let me say this, I am attending several events at Vancouver 2010 and I would much rather have more security than less.

  • and if you watched my video you would see what im talking about. "go canada"? fuck you and your nationalistic pride.

i dont believe in borders or extreme patriotism. its dangerous.

  • 2:59...salut??? I really hope they don't think we're all french canadian up here lol

  • @asanrules really if they think we are all french canadian there is no excuse

they can reasearch us on the internet

  • I'm betting the brilliant people who made this episode STILL haven't heard of British Columbia and if asked would have no idea what or where that is.

  • Where can I find on YOUTUBE where Merideth kicks Matt in the Nuts ?

  • just hope the media doesn't focus too much on gang violence and the massive drug problems....

    it's a beautiful city

  • can't wait =]
