  • americans sure know how to make an actione packed documentaries.

  • The skipper was bad-ass with that tactic he pulled.

  • I've seen some GM's on this video manning the guns on the ship, but I thought they can be a part of a VBSS team? Can anyone confirm this?

  • To bad SPIKE TV didn't mention the USCG in this video. Their (D.O.G./ DSF) Operators were & are a very active and intergrated partner with CTF 151. Hooah!! USN/USCG team!!

  • @Mr101008 I did not know the USCG operated in that area? I figured they only worked off the US coast???

  • @mixflip USCG Law Enforcement Detachments are often assigned to USN surface vessels that are deployed in the Gulf of Aden, if I'm not mistaken.

  • pirates 3? navy 0.

  • is there more episodes of this or is there just one

  • @MrMonkeygorilla Ive never seen any more episodes. Thats too bad because it was pretty good.

  • @MrMonkeygorilla Sadly, this was only a 1 time special on Spike.

  • fucking destoryer pulling off a badass stunt GO NAVY!!!!!!

  • I find it highly unlikely that an RPG could do anything substantial to a freighters hull, but what would I know about it.

  • @pickinthatbanjo Well an RPG has a copper shape charge that changes into a molten blast of copper that can penetrate steel armor on tanks. I have no doubt that it could penetrate the 1 inch thick hull of a civilian cargo ship. Granted it must hit a specific area of the ship to do any real damage like a fuel storage area or the bridge?

  • @mixflip Yeah I could see how a fuel bunker hit could be pretty rough, and it seems they have an abundance of those weapons as well, I guess I didn't really think that one out too well before posting.

Great video by the way, I've always been fascinated with the navy and the recent pirate activity they are combating.

  • Hummm a arms locker.. proper training... Even if its just 4-6 people trained on the crew...a few pistols, a few rifles, an a shotgun or 2, could fix this problem... Hell... why not throw in a ma duce for dealing with obvious threats at a distance..... Prob solved.

  • Thai navy is there too :)

  • Why don't these cargo ships carry more substantial wapons with them, it just seems ludicrous to me. They should all be carrying heavy weapons and RPGs to better defend themselves, I just don't get it..........

  • @GunSmokeGuy One word...politics.

  • @GunSmokeGuy also legal liability against the corporation operating the cargo ships. the corporation has insurance for property loss. policy for the company personnel is not to engage in a fight, allow pirates to take whatever they wish, and be a good witness for the courts. self-defense of the individual? no civilian weapons allowed on board. only nation entities are allowed to fight back in defense.

  • @GunSmokeGuy Most of them carry nothing. They rely on the massive expensive op going on to save them. The Capt. with a simple handgun would stop 90% of the pirate atttacks. Simply allowing the officers of these ships to be armed would stop most of these attacks but the PC crowd won't let it happen.

  • @dphitch I agree man, it's just common sense to have the crews of these ships well armed. PC is going to kill us all in the end, or at very least cause the entire (former) free world to one day be mercilessly ruled by dictatorships and terrorists...

  • Respond to this video... This whole anti pirate op is run by pussies and politicians

  • Couldn't have been a more timlier upload. From one FMF Doc to another, Happy 236th Birthday Devil Doc!

  • sweet! looks like fun. love that ships captain.

  • the background music is hilarious, almost obscures all of the audio. otherwise great

  • @12x Yeah Spike TV went a little over board on the music.

  • good upload dude. i think i saw this episode before already but it was soo awesome i watched it again.

  • "looks bad ass" lmao!

  • Tax payers dollars hard at work! I wonder who is conforms the rest of this coalition? Probably no one else! We always have to be Policing the world and fixing everyone else's problems! And of course all for financial gain and interests!

  • @RegularGuy76 Look it up. Task Force 151 is comprised of the US Navy, the Republic of Korea Navy, the Republic of Singapore Navy, the Turkish Navy and the Royal New Zealand Navy. French and Russian Navies are out there protecting merchant ships also.

  • @mixflip you forgot the belgian navy, they have 2 ships in west africa or south africa. Can't remeber that. stay safe.

  • @lukyluk666 O yeah good point. Im pretty sure there are alot of Navy ships from modern countries that do a few weeks duty in that area who have merchant ships from their country that run through there?

  • @mixflip it's a 6 months operation and they work along with the french navy. Strange they don't work with yours.

  • they should disguise there ships to look like cargo ships so when the pirates attack they can just eliminate the problem

  • What an awesome military we have.... I do hate the legal crap. If the helos video tape weapons, that should be evidence enough. Wonder if we could get a job on those merchant ships as armed security! 4 man team with m4's and one M1A Socom and HK USP 45's... might be profitable.

  • @koiphish The same politics that restrict the Navy from blowing those pirates out of the water also restrict merchant ships from having armed security. That would be a sweet gig for sure.

  • They should dump a little sugar in the pirates fuel tanks before they give the boat back. Let the sea take them....

  • @wye4379 I like that idea.

  • I hate to say it but these guys would bust into tears and turn away if some of those pirates opened up on them. I betcha none of them have ever had rounds flyin over their heads and people trying to kill em.

They all look like they got their degree from college and think they are bad ass b/c they are LT;s LMAO

  • @mejt223 These young men went directly into firing range of AK47s and rocket propelled grenades just fine. I think you and me and anybody would shit our pants if anybody shot an AK47 at us. Its human to have fear. If you say you are fearless, you are either lying or stupid (or both).

  • @mejt223 quote "they look like they got their degree from college". Where else would they get their degrees from?

  • @mixflip Walmart? Lol.

  • @mejt223 Yer woah man, you must be a grizzled army vet, i bet you've been in plenty of fire fights? tell me a war story, you are my hero! You are a fucking joke, they are just people doing a job, and yes, where the fuck else would they get their degree, you fucking moron. Fuck up kid.

  • @StunnedMutha Judging by the way you write, you are either 12 years old.....or a total fucking retard. My money is on the latter. Keep watching YouTube videos and spewing your bullshit. We need people like you to remind us how much trouble our country is in. Especially the education system.

Good luck. Ill pray for you that the minimum wage gets increased.

  • Well, I have two reactions. The Navy guys are great, but the ROE are absurd. They see weapons on a vessel that is trying to engage a commercial vessel and they can't sink them??? Pirates are running away, flash an RPG and they can't sink them??? This is what happens when military force is limited by the judicial considerations. No wonder the problem exists. If you want to end the situation, sink the damn pirate vessels.

  • @lamarama1 I agree. The Russian Navy blows those pirate boats out of the water with the exact same RPG's the Somalis carry. We are told to drop the pirates off in Kenya for prosecution. We need to simply blow them away. Do it enough and piracy will stop for sure.

  • @lamarama1 Amen, I agree 100%

  • Let me get this straight....The United States military is now protecting financial assets?

  • @pidevildog07 They have been protecting US interests and allies around the world for over 200 years now.

  • gotta love the U.S navy.
