  • @hanksta29 You appear as an idiot.

  • I remember as a young boy meeting my great-grandmother. She was in a wheelchair and very old. Died at 102. She was supposed to be full-blood but had blue eyes. She was very kind to me but I was sort of spooked by her but she gave me things I still have. I remember she was tended by a teenaged girl with long black hair and dark skin. She spooked me too. I was only like 4 or 5. The girl left to go on a date and the old lady sang me songs that I now realize were old Indian songs.

  • @Kirke182 The old lady had two sons--one was my grandfather and we called his brother "uncle." Both were hell-raising drunkards. Uncle was very coarse and peg-legged and I was terrified of him. One day, he came by my house when I was about 8 and I was alone. He wanted me to let him in but I was too scared of him. He pounded on the doors and windows and swore and cursed at me but I hid from. Finally, he left. I went out onto the porch and there were 8 silver dollars in a neat stack.

  • @CoreyfromEarth Ah shut up sour puss, they are excellent. Go listen to your wizard elf rock then. What do you know about song lyrics?

  • @frankothemountain "Heeey what da matter with the heeey...heeey now."

Really dude? C'mon. It's like he's wingin' it. LOL.

  • @CoreyfromEarth Um, the presence of "winging it" is what top 10 songs are made of, among other elements that this song also has. It was #5 and it stayed on the top 40 for 18 weeks. Jimi Hendrix liked them and encouraged them to form this band. Simplistic? Yes in a way....also simply beautiful and perfect. It's pop music dammit. So what are some lyrics that you think are so awesome then?

  • @frankothemountain Billy Joel's Allentown is a great example. That lyrics in that song has a story to tell. : )

  • @CoreyfromEarth Well not all songs are story tellers. Billy Joel outright bought many of his songs, then put his name on them. My neighbor wrote the poem "just the way you are" and got paid 500.00 for it. Allentown is a boring and depressing song. It doesn't even have a hook. This is an uplifting song.

  • @frankothemountain Uplifting huh? Okay how about "Dare" or "The Touch." Both by Stan Bush. 80s metal cheesiness I know, but they rocked and the lyrics are very uplifting.

  • @CoreyfromEarth Never hoid of 'em.

  • Comment removed

  • @frankothemountain Whoops my spelling is all messed up.

  • @CoreyfromEarth it's all good bro, just don't underestimate a simple happy song. Sometimes that is just what someone needs to hear, and it's not as easy as you think to make a good one.

  • @frankothemountain Understood.

  • @CoreyfromEarth Plus, you were born in 1984. The world and music scene was a still a little more innocent in 1974.

  • LOVE AND RESPECT TO THE FIRST NATION!!

  • Lead singer is Lolly Vesquez (Vegas), he is deceased as of last year. :-( The man who dances is Tony (T-Bone) Bellamy, he also died within the last two years. :-(

  • Him do pre nookie dance

  • GERONIMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  • where are they now?

  • I would ike to see Jacob from Twilight dance and sing this song to Bella!!!! will be soooo great!!!!

  • I didn't know they were native americans! I love this song.!

  • What is the lead singers name?

  • What does this dance signify?

  • Comment removed

  • We were here first!!!

  • Who cares if a few were mixed blood? At the very least, they were out there representing the culture to a mass audience. Something a lot of haters couldn't do with half their talents.

  • don't forget chuck billy of testament

  • dont forget chuck billy of testement

  • Redbone certainly deserve plenty feathers!

  • I loved this song so much as a kid, I did not know anything at all aside from the song itself until now, youtube rocks!. What an awesome video!!! My god, I just loved the dancing and music in the beginning, really appreciated, I cannot thank you enough for posting!

  • @aquaristic Agree With you! In fact, thnx to this post, we played this song at our Homecoming Dance in 2007.

  • @TigerGirlXXXX That is really awesome, what an excellent song for a good party. Just because music is a few years old means nothing, as Beethoven and Mozart fans will tell ya. It is difficult to put into words the good feelings this song brings out in me but its kinda like being a really happy kid and having fun all wrapped up in one. The song is magic I tell ya!

  • The level of racial slurs over this fine band is unbelievable. The funny thing about it is all of these really hateful and cutting comments are being made by people who are NOBODYs. This band had great success with their show and could bring the house down in their concerts. You haters need to learn how to love yourselves and maybe you can learn to love others as well...right now you're just a bunch of loudmouth idiots. REDBONE RAWKS!!

  • asshole they are indigenous persons yaqui shoshone cheyene some mexican blood wich were mechicas indians raped and pilage by catholic spaniards, there are no native americans that are indiginous because america as a country did not exist in the time of there ancestors or in any time b-4 the conquoring and invasion of europeans,America is a dream and not a reality. This is turtle island and always has been since the great creator made it, wemi ma goonda wakan

  • What does "get it from the main vine" mean? that a drug reference?

  • Osiyo to all my Cherokee brothers and sisters out here

  • not one of these guyz were full native or native at all. read the bio

  • @jw0351 few were mixed native american

  • <3 redbone... -real enrolled native-

  • THERE ONCE WAS A CHICKASAW IN THE WOODS. WE FELL DEEPLY IN LOVE AND BEFORE LONG I WAS SHOWING HER MY REDBONE. I SWEAR THIS IS TRUE. SIGNING OFF - YOURS TRUELY - CHIEF TELLING BULL

  • Awesome! This song is amazing

  • good music, I hope there's more native american grups like this,

  • Please quite being stupid and ignorant people, nobody wants to hear your bs. Get over yourselves and get a life, seriously, its pathetic. Last time I checked we were all human, and for all you know those of you talking trash are part mex or ind or black. This is the 21st, move on already!

  • Redbone, they still rock, Thank you!

  • Redbone, you know we are family don't you?

    My mother is a Harrison/Goins.

My cousin Jack Goins is an author like myself.

Anyway, just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you!

My oldest son Joey has so much musical talent, guitar, piano...like he was born with the ability to play each.

  • REDBONE was the BEST cros-over, NATIVE AMERICAN band EVER- still is! I'm of Celtic & Norse ancestry BUT I learned, recently, I am ALSO PROUD to be of Native Amreican Heritage- Cherokee & Shoshoni. Funny footenote here we traced our Celtic ancestory- it was ORIGINALLY - PORTUGESE! SO I say we should be RESPECTFUL to ALL races & cultures because we may be SURPRISED to find we are we are talking about our OWN family tree- lol... don't THAT beat all?

  • @jazzbebeya Trust me I believe your originally Portuguese...Everyone in history has sail or rode into other lands and conquered them for their own, but not the Portuguese...these guys will jump in ship and sail for months in the worst condition just to hump you: ]

  • @jazzbebeya damn theynshould call u heinze 57

  • @jslade60 Yeah- it's a saying in our family- what YOU SAID! Proud to be Heinz 57! The BEST variety of American- ALL AMERICAN & Heinz 57!- lols!

  • ignore her, she just wants a reaction.

  • call me mexican ill smash you....choctaw nation mother fucker

  • I am going to attempt to follow the example set by this remarkable band and ask you why your need to be so unkind SkidRowJosephine?

  • If AIM members are what you seem to believe...what does that make you? At least they attempted to retake Wounded Knee. What can you say you have accomplished other than insulting the people yours took this land from. Just another Redbone asking?

  • The true Americans, the only ones that should have a right to this land called America.

  • One of my favorites from the 70's

    Great group and song.

    Thumbs up.

  • Cross-dressing Mexicans! Too funny!

  • @SkidRowJosephine

wow ur stupid thinking their mexican!! Ms. E.T. I guess i know where ur from!!

  • i am one white man that thinks redbone GREAT

  • love it!!! this song still rocks!

  • @nwoalexjones you could be right but I think when every continiut was together, what was it called? pandgea? Was when the early humans came and went to certain parts of it. So Natives went to the america part asians stayed where they settled and Latinos went where south and central america was, and blacks went to the africa part of it and whites went to the europe part of it. And then pandgea split into those continents. Thats wat i think happend, im not trying to prove u wrong im just saying.

  • Manny, If you really want to get an idea as to what the Redbone were all about go to Redbone and type in Speakeasy or Alcatraz. It is some of thier earlier work and isn't as good in sound but,.....the words tell a story.

  • Many people of many lands were affected by the white mans lust for land and unwillingness to work it. I see comments fromdescendants of slaves and my heart goes out to them.

  • I doubt any of us with Native blood in ouir veins and heart will ever forget all of the deaths, treaties broken (every one) and the people who were natives to this land moved to Reservations. Whites are a greedy lot aren't they? This is posted for my Indian brothers and sisters and with reverance for our people and the band who defied all by singing about the truth.

  • @SpiceCatsLady1 I sure havent forgotten all the hardships our people have gone through, I wonder what it wood be like if the white men werent greedy.

  • I doubt any of us with Native bllod in ouir veins and heart will ever forget all of the deaths, treaties broken (every one) and the people who were natives to this land moved to Reservations. Whites are a greddy lot aren't they? This is posted for my Indian brothers and sisters and with reverance for our people and the band who defied all by singing about the truth.

  • That dancer is getting it!

Man I always think of hardships of my black generation before me, but no one in this country suffered more than the thousands of tribes of Natives that were killed for their land by the hands of the white man (and a lot of sellout black men too).

  • @Skinhitta sometimes i wonder what it would be like if that never happened, i think it would be alot better if the white man never did that. Im proud of my native heritage and no matter what they throw at me, it will never change the way i think.

  • @Manny11596 Love to hear encouraging messages like that bro...stay strong.

  • It was sweet of you to say Inians are beautiful. I have no quarrel with that However they were not considered Americans ntil just before WWII. I suppose that had something to do wit the now famous Wind Talkers.

  • @SpiceCatsLady1 The weird thing is, is that natives were here first and that we ( and by taht i mean my native brothers) were the only people who werent immagrants.

  • i never knew...til now, beautiful men

  • R.I.P. Lolly.......my dad is dieing and this song has always proved uplifting (even now).

  • it won't let me post the link.

just google my name Stephen Pisani and you will find my site.

when you do click on my bio below my picture Lolly's story is there.

  • Hi Mary,

This is the link for Lolly's Eulogy and some stories I shared with Della Reese at his funeral.

Friday, March 4th maked exactly one year since he passed and I miss him dearly.

for some reaon youtube will not let me post the link

  • I loved this song when I was a teenager

  • I have alittle cherokee in me on my mother, but before I knew that i always had a strong interest in native Americans.I use to live on a indian school and interact with the native american childern and loved what I did.If i had a chance to live on another indian school Im gonna do it.Thumbs up to all you native americans.Oh I am proud to having alittle cherokee in me.Native American are truly beautiful people of our country.

  • 10 people have no love and dont feel right.

  • 10 people have no love.

  • Chant 49,followed by Come & get Your Love..Brilliant! RIP,Lolly!

  • I'm SO DAMN PROUD of my Native American heritage. Proud of my Red brothers and sisters and proud to be...CHEROKEE!!

  • @MaryMRevis I am proud too..I am 1/4 cherokee from my dads side and love these guys

  • We are alone, absolutely alone on this chance planet: and, amid all the forms of life that surround us, not one, excepting the dog, has made an alliance with us. I am Oglala Brule Sioux , Peace and Native Pride

  • Didn't know roofers could sing like that!

  • peace and love.. get on the love train

  • wheres the Rhodes player?

  • Great tune

  • @SanNicaragua White, brown, yellow, red, and every color in-between...all people suck, and all cause problems for other people, and that includes what you mistakenly call "natives". Whatever the white Europeans did to Indians is meaningless, because if the tables were turned, they would have done the same thing to the Europeans. The only reason the Indians didn't is because the Europeans had the knowledge and technology to travel long-distances to slaughter people. The Indians didn't.

  • Thats is the most inmature comment I've ever read. You don't know nothing about the hystory of your country. How old are you? nine?

  • @SanNicaragua ha ha ha!..."You don't know nothing"???..."hystory"???..."inmature"..."thats is"???...ha ha ha!!! An idiot like you who can't spell nor use proper English grammar is going to insult me and say I don't know history? When you learn how to spell and speak proper English, then I'll listen to what you have to say.

  • @chuggachuggawoowoo The abuse of knowledge & technology is a crime ..They could have shared it with them and maybe things would have turned out differently....:-)

  • @Ruraljohn My point is, people of all colors kill their own kind, and everyone else. The white man doesn't have a monopoly on killing other people. Each group throughout history killed their own kind and other people as well. If the Indians had the ability to travel to Europe to slaughter whites they would have done so. This media nonsense of the Indians being noble people at peace with the Universe who wouldn't hurt a fly is fiction. ALL people throughout history have committed atrocities.

  • The Native Americans brought, and continue to bring, a rich culture to future generations. Every culture is beautiful. It is how we make out of it that is important. In my opinion, we need each other. We are all part of nature. Native Americans have been in the American Continent, from Greenland to Patagonia, Argentina millions of years ago. We should respect them as we would like to be respected. Good job, Redbone. I love it!

  • Unique group. First time I heard the song, I loved it ( I was eight years old then). Now that I have seen the video, I am impressed. Awsome group! May God bless them where ever they are.

  • I think these guys are great. It's neat to see that they can assimilate into the world of popular music while still holding true to their core culture. My wife is one fourth Cherokee and we both appreciate the American Indian culture. Rock on!

  • @comcreature

Wado my brother:) Many blessings:) redbone is still the greatest Native American band:)

  • Who says we lost it?? In BC, Canada we have full sovreign rights to our territories, unceded land, meaning we own it and have title to it. We have judges, doctors, lawyers, teachers, politiciansetc etc and are victims to nobody. "Advancement" has meant devestation. Yes, who are the heathens of the world, REALLY?? You will pray that we help you when you realize you can't eat money, when the land and the waters are destroyed and there is nothing more to sustain you.

  • OK EVERYONE......THEY WHERE HERE FIRST, BUT THEY LOST IT! SO WHAT GET OVER IT!!!!!!!! NOW THEY WILL BE OUR VICTIMS WEATHER WE WANT THEN TO BE OR NOT! I LIVE IN THE LAND OF SIOUX,,, WE TAKE CARE OF THEM FROM THE TIME THEY ARE BORN UNTIL THEY DIE. WORK, PAY CHECK, BEING ON TIME AND BEING RESPONSIBLE ARE JUST FEW WORD NOT USED BY THE SOUIX.

  • Viva La Raza, if not the AIM!

  • This reminds me of the Native American movement in the 70' The Original Americans....

boy did they get a screwed out of their life

". If there was a time machine I would go back in time and sink every ship that tried to come ashore."

  • jvilleda333, I agree with you totally. Although I am afro-asian, history has shown how white men have engaged in genocide in a attempt to wipe out Native Americans, which is why I am so proud of Redbone and their legacy with exist forever. Back in the day, I would hear this song and loved it. Had I known they were Native Americans, I would have adored them even more. This year while visiting DC I made it a point to visit the Museum of American Indians. LOVED IT.

  • white men kill 5,ooo indians at day. great history, but they dont put that in the books

  • indian and mexican was living in , texas california and arizona , went the green go stolle they lands alot of indians went to mexico.

  • went spaniard come to america, they get mix with indians, read history

  • And let not forget, mexicans are indian and spaniard.

  • At 57, I've always adored this song, my all time favorite. Soulful grove & wonderful beat. I always listened to it on the radio, but never saw the group. So proud to recently learn that they are mixed blood of Mexican & Native American. Proud of them breaking into mainstream. This is coming from an Afro-Asian. And for some of the full blooded Natives, who seem to not want to give them full credit since you do not view them as real or full Indian, get over it and still be proud.

  • Except Redbone werent REALLY native Americans. They were mostly Italian boys.......

  • @bsc1812 - not italian, but spanish

  • @bsc1812 No, they were not Italian boys. Do the research. Simple. Google it. They were mixed blood of Mexicans, Latino and Native Americans, hence the meaning of the word REDBONE. Don't forget, mexican are merely a combination of indians and spaniards.

  • @bsc1812 If you smoke some more dope, they start to look like Filipinos too! :)

  • Some of you sound so uneducated here.1) Just because some of the surnames are either Mexcian or english doesn't mean their not of "native american" heritage.2)Yea, they are of natives! Check out wiki if you know how to read.(3)yes, us natives do excist even today, duh! 4)some of you who don't like us natives, then why the hell are you watching this video in the first place?! 5) yes, i do have my papers to proof it so get a damn life!!

  • @kiowaangeleyes-- AGREE AND AMEN........So proud of Redbone.

  • @kiowaangeleyes -Agree and by the way for those who are ignorant in their thinking and writing. The player in the blue Indian wardrobe original name was Tony Avila and for business reasons (we know why) changed it to Tony Bellamy.

  • white men kill 5,ooo indians at day. great history, but they dont teach that in school

  • Harry L. JR. forever RIP uncle! fond memories always.

  • WTF? Mexican taco vendors from east LA dressed up like fuckin' Injuns!

  • Native Americans- The beautiful People!!!

  • am comanche

  • Peace and Love from a Fellow Meztizo Xicano~Mescalero~Apache~Yaqui~Modoc~Huero`Loco~Viva Aztlan~

  • Brilliant live performance of a great, great song. What gorgeous voices and men. I could watch this over and over again.

SkidRowJosephine is an idiot but thankfully, 1ofLouisBoys sorted him/her out.

  • Gone Ahead now, they are jammin'! I wondered who sang this song.....I thought it was some Black 70's group......LOL was I wrong.
