  • history channel "dogfights" pure propaganda! they should name it (american dogfights)

  • Holy shit what awesome graphics.

  • I think this might be one of touchy's videos.. the man does brilliant CGI air war stuff... I believe he also did 1941. I might be wrong.. This one has been around for a few years but it still looks pretty cool..

  • Both american and japanese fighterpilots are unique in how 'kills' were accounted. ANY american pilot's claim was ALWAYS questioned. Any area, any time period. NO japanese pilot's claim was EVER questioned. They could claim anything and honor demanded that everybody always accepted it as truth. Still today. But at least one famous, Saturo Anabuki, have been under scrutiny, and found to be just a big liar. Lt Muto might be the real deal. I don't know. But that story always stank. Still do stink.

  • I am very sorry .

    Watch movie everyday.

    it very wannderful.

  • smashing plane,to bad not produced in more numbers

  • What is this from?

  • 0:24 Tokyo Drift anyone?

  • Killer video. I would have sworn it was real if I didn't know better first. The tail wheel animation was strikingly realistic.

Due to bombing by B-29s the Japanese couldn't get more Georges into production and it's a good thing they couldn't. The Hellcat was not a fast plane and with equal pilots aboard the N1K2 would have been a very difficult opponent for it at low and medium altitudes. The Corsairs was a good 50 mph faster, but most carrier aircraft were Hellcats.

  • いつも見るけど、ほんとすばらしい。

  • @gozira7733 ame-jin kara no sansei...

  • Omigoto!

  • fantastic

    tj

  • awesome, at first i too thought it was real, its one of the best fighter in il2

  • Christ I thought it was a REAL flim! did'nt think it was until the men started walking.

  • THE KI 84 Ic with the is one of the most dangerous aircombat fighters in dogfighting. I flew the Mustang and the Spitfire quite long in IL2 Sturmovic till I dicovered the KI-84 wich is quite simmilar to the N1K1. It ´s a very serious match for almost any ww2 fighter!

Even against the light P-39 !

It´s fast - extremely agil - and has enough firepower to butch up a B-25 in 3 seconds !

The corsair is a champ when it comes to air to ground attacks !

  • TOSHI is a genius !!!!!!!

  • I want this as a ww2 combat simulator !!!

Like IL2 Sturmovic 1946 - just with this grafic ablilities !!!

  • no match for a mustang or spitfire.

  • u think

  • To really tell you i think the planes are closely matched but it would really depend what pilots were flying them. Most of the Japanese aces by the end of the war were dead so the N1K2 would have been most likley piloted by a rookie.

  • EXACTLY!!, i was about to say the same thing, i see u are open mind and dont stick whit one plane saying nosense things, good to know ya pal. : D

  • The N1K's were built in limited numbers, and only distributed to elite units, such as Minoru Genda's 343 Kokutai. So they were most definatly NOT piloted by rookies.

  • You are right. The pilots of the 343 sq

    weren,t rookies.

  • Most people think that Japan fought with only the zero, but Japan's late war planes were very high performance. Many out performed American fighters at everything below 8000 feet. Like the ki-84, ki-100, j2m3, and the n1k2. There was a report of 4 hellcats attaking a single n1k2. When the n1k2 shot down 2 of the hellcats. The Americans became fustrated and decided to go home.

  • I think it was a battle of above Matsuyama

    by IJN 343 sq.

  • If only this was the basic plane of the Japanese by 1944 then maybe the allies would have had a hard time controlling the skies.

  • This planes companies of KAWANISHI was new venture company. Nakajima and Mitsubishi was

    old traditionals.

Kawanishi had new ideas.and IJN decided next

    on ship fighters plane this.

    Mitsubishi was failed.

and Kawanishi prepared more supers one.

    That called JINPU=(F8F) fighting bomber.

But ww2 was failed and end.

  • Get out from this corner, please.

  • After seeing it in the Air Force Museum, its surprisingly smallish in size. The secret was the combat flaps controlled by a manometer. I build Scale R/C and the "George" was an unlikely subject to choose. .....Deadly bugger though.

  • thanks for great very rare clip.

    shidenkai is legendary!!

  • This picture is computer graphic.

  • I don't know if it's captured by camera. It really looks like 3D computer work.

Could the author of this video give us the answer?

  • The laminar airfoil that ShinMaywa had developed wasa failure. The boundary flaking off was generated onthe edge after the main wing. When the air returns from speed of sound to transonic, thetail has broken. The major Shiga who was the testpilot of this airplane was going todo the nose dive test upto 460 knots. However, because the flutter had been generated by 430 knots, the test was stopped. He felt bitter because he heard news "the disintegration in midair while 343 flight squadrons were training."

  • the same engine equips ki-84 has no air resistance than George. The speed went out because propellers were larger than ki-84.

In this airplane, the angle in which the main wing was installed was four degrees. A big fillet of brazed joint was often called a dried banana. Ki-84 where 3000 planes are made, and it goes to the Philippines.

n1k2-j was only of 400 planes though was expected as a main force of naval forces. The flying boat company must make the flying boat.

  • N1k2 was really a wonder...... most people say only the late war japanese planes were really good, but I think the IJA picked up very quickly on the concept of a speedy "boom and zoom" plane when they released the ki-44. Even in short supply, this plane was really the scourge of the China front with Americas 23rd fighter group (the incepted version of the AVG). The Ki-61 and Ki-84 were both also great vertical fighters that could turn well too.

  • Saburo Sakai hated this plane. He said it was junk and only went into production because of the backing of Minoru Genda, whom he called an "idiot." He mentioned the landing gear, so I presume he flew the original mid-wing version. But I have heard from other sources that the build quality was poor. Seems to me the reliable Ki-100 was the best Japanese fighter overall.

  • this looks awesome! but it is no video from a computer game?

  • N1K2 is a killer plane!

  • There is a famous saying that history is written by the victors and that is true here, the yank's like you to think their equipment was the best.full stop.

  • *Everyone* likes to think they've got the best stuff. There were incredible aircraft produced by all nations involved in WWII.

...and everyone's got a different opinion of what constitutes 'best', anyway.

  • Two words Gendas Blade,

  • if Europe is less than 40% European, it is non other than the fault of the Euro caucasians themselves.......The people they enslaved and brought back in scores. Your great great great grandparents made up this bed and now you are going to lie in it. So sad.

  • I read where in Feb45, testing out a more reliable engine, a Lt Kinsuke Muto alone faced a dozen Hellcats, downed four and chased the rest away.

I wonder if the later Naruo version taking half the time to build with stronger shorter landing gear, if they could have made a carrier-born version?

Sadly our "Dogfight" History program claiming to show the best dogfights in all history shows only American victories.

And the world calls us egotistical and arrogant? hah, wonder why?

  • Well, i wondered why they idd did not something about the battle of Britain at first hand, but than i noticed that there where idd only American dogfight victories. Maybe its time for something else over there on the History channel.

  • Agreed! They finaly did 1 foreign plane, the RAF Swordfish. Pathetic "Dogfight" series. US=Hellcat RAF=Swordfish. I was so ashamed I canceled my History Channel subscription. Yet my friends who still have say they've never seen the above program eventhough it says History Channel. Are we 'cherry picking' out editing like we did for Iraq now for ww2 history too? Disgusting. Embarassing. Ashamed.

  • @metalmelvin History Channel is bullshit.

  • @cornergasser Kure Harbor July 24th 1945;Kaneyoshi Muto(301st Sentai)bounced Robert Speckman and Robert Applegate(VBF-1)downing Speckman.Muto was quickly engaged by Malcom Calge and Ken Neyer(VF88),Muto turned on the 2 F6Fs and downed Cagle. In a wild dogfight, Muto shot down Applegate but he managed to bail out of his F4U. Cagle returned to base but Muto disappeared. The wreckage of his N1k2 was never found.Muto recieved a posthumous award of ENS.

  • @cornergasser - It's geared to an American audience. I wouldn't mind seeing an episode of Dogfights focusing on Saburo Sakai and Erich Hartmann. Don't think it will happen, though.

  • THE BEST.

  • I read where one Lt Kinsuke Muto, alone? faced a dozen Hellcats in Feb45, downed 4 and chased off the rest. Sadly that program "Dogfight" supposedly of all the best dogfights in the world only show American victories.

  • Amazing, we need more vids like these, and longer!

  • RE-SPECT!

  • If it were continued imperial japan,

Shidenkais were used in 1960s on japan navy on carrier main fighter, and Korea and Vietnums jobs were japanese ones, and no necesary US yankies die.

  • Too few and too late!

  • This fighter has the ability of equivalent or more ones F6F.

    dangerous fighter for F6F pilots.

    Far from Zero.

But materials less in these days.

  • Filebrand, they are not N1K1 "Shiden", but N1K2 "Shiden kai", they were quite different (different wings position, different fuselage shape, different tail rudder)

  • Wow! Computer generated? Amazing, incredible. The N1k1's look really authentic. Great video.

  • Wow!,Awsome!. What program did you use to make this?. -Best Regards

  • I don't know why N1K2-J SHIDEN-KAI (George Type 21)isn't well known, one of the best fighters in the WW2 Japanese navy I know.I really want to see more footage or pictures of this fighter, if you have please post.

  • Love to see more of this guys work, simply brillant.

  • It already was animation

  • I don't think the poster was trying to fool anyone into thinking it wasn't CGI... For more of this artist's work, google "Tochy Suppon". Some great stuff on his site.

  • See the way the tail wheel hits the ground super or what?

  • coooooooooooooooooooooool!!

  • This is a Tochi's very well known video.

Credit should be given to this incredible Japanese author and creator.

  • Is this Tochy?

  • Is that 'Nate' or 'Oscar'?

  • N1K2-J SHIDEN-KAI (George Type 21)
