  • About the lot more people with autism (got autism) I think at least the high functional one wasn't very diagnosed before. Like Einstein would get the diagnose if he grew up today. Know another one with serious autism he doesn't even try to work on it. Does not have diagnose,, the fuck.

  • I have AS. so does my kid. my mother was given a posthumous diagnoses as well for it. who knows how many generations it goes back on my mother's side of the family?

I prefer to see it as a strength. not as a weakness. it forms everything that I do or not do.

  • Thank you for making this video, it has impacted thousands of people. Amazing. I will never stop being PROUD.

  • @brownspottedbanana I forgive you. Eventually you'll be touched by the blessed, and you will have awareness.

  • My brother and all of you are the most AMAZING people in the UNIVERSE! i love you all! <3

  • Stop making excuses for what we are! We are 'normal', we'd only be abnormal if there was one of us. I am autistic, and I'm proud of who I am. I've learned to accept my strengths and weaknesses, and use them to my advantage. This isn't an impairment. This is a personality. This isn't a disability. I don't need that excuse to live with who I am. I learn just fine, I cope just fine and I adapt just fine. No one is normal.

  • all children should be slain upon diagnosis of autism

  • @brownspottedbanana - You're the biggest piece of shit I know.

  • @TeamDefenders thanks, i'd insult you back only i dont know you.

  • @brownspottedbanana - No problem. I complemented you by your filthy statement.

You've obviously not got a soul.

  • @TeamDefenders me? id give them mercy by killing them. and giving mercy to the taxpayer by letting that money go for noble causes instead of caring for an insignificant half completed life. its a waste and its one of the many things that hold us back as a species.

  • @brownspottedbanana - You're full of shit, like I said. You're the one who needs to be killed as you're identical to bin ladin & gaddafi in the head.

  • @brownspottedbanana you would NOT have that nice computer if that was done. Bill Gates is a aspie. which is part of the spectrum.

nor would you have all the other things that folks on the spectrum have created.

  • More autism I guess puts us on the way to a smarter world. Even though us autistics can be ignorant too, as ignorance is a conscious choice amongst all human beings. A social norm is only something that is collectively accepted, not a reality, which is why it is frequently infected by ignorance. If there's any "retardation" here, it's ignorance, not autism itself.

  • I really like your video. It was very good.

  • There is no hope of curing ignorance. I've been trying for a long time...

  • I'm 30 years old and my best friend has AS. He is very high functioning but has had extreme social problems. For the past year I have been researching his syndrome and have had great sucsess in pushing his boundries socially. In the past year I have seen him not just learn to replicate but pick up on complex social cues. I have gotten him to deviate from his every day norms and ruetines that his ocd controlled as well as interacting with strangers.

  • @thegogofiasco I'm really happy that your friend has you in their life. I'm 24 and have Asperger's myself. I don't know where I'd be if it weren't for the couple of true fiends that I have that our friendships have managed to stand the test of time. I'm sorry if this came across as random. It's unfortunately far too rare to see people in your position. Thanks in large part to people who take friendships for granted or spurn them for such things are far more common.

  • i know 4 people with autism one of them is someone very close to me and they are all smart and amazing people.

  • I have to be honest, I can't see anything that demonstrates why autists should be treated any differently, 50% of everybody is above average intelligence and understanding and patience is something that we all need.

It's also something we all need to show, autists and Aspergers included.

  • whitout autism spectrum I have been an different person

  • I love this advert, I find the ones on TV saying too much of the bad stuff about ASD, and not enough of the good stuff. This one shows both sides. I think it is both an disability and an ability, for those that say ASD does not have a down side - you are wrong - a life on the autism spectrum is more difficult, but we have a lot to give this world and I wouldn't be "cured" if I had the option.

    I have (mild) Autism

  • Gluten Free Casein Free diet got my daughter who as Aspergers to sleep for the first time in 3 years. Lunch ideas are on my page...

  • Comment removed

  • @MsElena1971 - Sorry, I don't know where you heard this, but you're wrong. Rett Syndrome is a genetic disorder of the nervous system that can cause development disabilities almost exclusively in girls that is frequently MISDIAGNOSED as autism early on. Google it.

  • I do have some criticism, I have Asperger's syndrome so I know what it is like. I would stress that you should place more emphasis on how different the condition can be in each individual. For instance, smells do not bother me, and I absolutely love listening to Lady Gaga, Kesha, and European dance music like Cascada and Basshunter. That is something this video suggests is impossible. I am in dialectical behavioral therapy and it is helping emensely.

  • Thanks for the video, but as an autism specialist, I won't be sharing this because you refer to people as "autistics" and they are people with autism. Autism does not define them.

  • HOLY HELL!!! 50% of all autistic people have an above average IQ???

That would seem extraordinary except that 50% of ALL people have an above average IQ, and the rest have a below average IQ.

riiiight? that is... if i understand the concept of averages...

  • @ShlttyBill a high IQ doesn't tell if a person is a genius nor does a low IQ tell if a person is retarded, these are just tests that help psychiatrists label, or shall I say "identify" people just how we label (in a bad way) or identify (in a good way) other people. Example of low and high IQ test results :

Someone with high IQ might be able to memorize everything by detail but lacking creativity, the exact opposite might occur to someone with a low IQ. Now draw your own conclusion from here...

  • HOLY HELL!!! 50% of all autistic people have above average IQ?

That would seem extraordinary except that 50% of all people have and above average IQ, and the rest have a below average IQ.

    riiiight?

  • "50% of these have an above average IQ!"

    ... You don't say!

  • makes you proud to be autistic :D

  • Excellent and encouraging.

  • If there is one thing I do not see in this autism movement is anger. We all need to be serial killers and murder as many NT's as possible. They do not love us remember. TO DISAGREE WITH ME IS TO SIDE WITH THE DEMONS WHO ARE THE NT'S. KILL THEM AND RAPE THERE WOMAN.

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO........keep up the great work.......i work within special needs education and i find this video great for an explanation of autistic children ...i believe there are also t-shirts being made saying.......im autistic.....ur just ignorant .....i think they are fab and should be widely promoted xx

  • beautiful video-come check out the one i made for my nephew

  • i think we need to stop fooling ourselves! aspergers is a living hell that i wouldnt wish on my worst enemy it may have a couple of marginal points but it is a living hell anyone saying different is either lying to themselves are do not have as!!!!!!!

  • This video isn't funny enough. Need more funny!

  • RETARDS!

  • @multisnootyreturns for someone to blurt out such a comment i think we all know your a weak minded ignorant imbocile i hope he understands that but he prolly wont.

  • @multisnootyreturns PREPARE THE GAS CHAMBERS, I got a thirst for murder

  • Thank you for making a video promoting acceptance and not begging for pity! With Acceptance there is no need for Cure.

  • this is a really good video it explains alot i love it well done :)

  • (Elemarth

50% of all people are above average intelligence! Hence... average!

    I like the ignorance quote.)

50% are above average, which leaves the rest either average or below average. Do you even understand what an average is Elemarth and how does it feel having an Aspie point out how stupid you have made yourself look. Mathematics is interesting, you should try using it sometimes. FTM.

  • 50% of all people are above average intelligence! Hence... average!

    I like the ignorance quote.

I absolutely don't believe the figures about how many people had autism ten years ago. I mean, how on earth do we know? It wasn't being properly diagnosed.

The acrostic for autim (always unique...) is perfect.

  • Weren't Heinrich Himmler and Jeffrey Dahmer autistic?

  • Hitler was a vegetarian. What's your point?

  • Hitler is also believed to have been autistic.

  • @cm2dude hitler was autistic eh? glad he killed as many of you NT's as possible than :D. hahahahahahaha

  • @Locke1217 You spelled "then" wrong.

I am quite sorry if I failed to make accommodations for your inability to speak the english language, but I am an honest asshole. That is how most schizotypical persons are.

  • @Locke1217 People like you and Adolf Hitler give autistic people such as myself a bad name! You hate non-autistic people the same way that the organisation 'Autism Speaks' hates autistic people. Non-autistic people and autistic people are equal and they should love each other, not hate each other! End of discussion.

  • Jeffrey Dahmer was totally evil and screwed up

  • Put two and two together, and use some logic.

Himmler was: Autistic and Screwed Up.

Jeffrey Dahmer was: Autistic and Screwed Up.

Hitler: Believed to have been Autistic, and really screwed up.

    I'm noticing a trend.

  • @cm2dude: Well, here's a problem with Hitler: He may have been one of the world's biggest douchebags, but I don't think he had an intelligence problem.........

  • @JohnnyDart76 That is why he might have Aspergers.

Obsessive about ending the jews, and completely oblivious to the will of others.

  • @cm2dude,so what if they were?

  • @IstalkBananas Well, then, the whole one-sided argument that somehow, everybody famous in history was autistic might be less supported when it turns out that many of the infamous people also had it.

  • @cm2dude,oh okey. But why should it be less supported? Autism has got nothing to do with good or bad....

  • @IstalkBananas Yes, but I am talking more about the "MY SON IS SPESHUL LIKE EINSTEIN" people, when indeed their sociopathic, narcissistic spawn might be just like Jeffrey Dahmer or Ted Kaczynski.

  • @cm2dude,Maybe I`m missunderstanding you but to me it sounds as though you think that autistic people are more likely to do stuff like Jeffrey Dahmer did.

  • @cm2dude autistic people become serial killers because your kind will never love them. call it a war because asking for your kinds love is asking to much... am i wrong?

  • I have Aspergers.

Who the fu** came up with the term Aspergers? It sounds like some a**hole came up with the name.

  • its named after the person who discovered it. (hans asberger or something)

  • Yes Dr Hans Asperger had it named after he wrote a significant piece outlining the symptoms from other impairments of the mind.

  • @specopsangheili I disagree with you. I do not think Aspergers is an "impairment" your word. Its intresting because a person with Aspergers DO NOT think the same way as other people. So to have Aspergers is to have a different view on the world and life. I hate it when doctors just call name things and say its an impairment. I think people that dont have it should adjust to the people who do. This comment is coming with from a person with Aspergers Sydrome.

  • Yes I have an official diagnoses of aspergers syndrome. It's not all bad but there is no denying that social etiquette is impaired along with the ability to understand emotion to a certain extent in many other people.

Personally myself I enjoy the gift of extreme focus but not not the social awkwardness that comes with it and ability to interpret other peoples emotions accurately.

Once again I am officially recognised as Aspergic.

  • @AustinJohnson07 What do you expect buddy? We are not welcome here. As much as you might not want to admit it, you should just take your own life because people on this planet do not love you for who you are. let the anger inside you lash out on the "healthy" minds that have raped your soul of life.

  • @AustinJohnson07 I have aspergers, and I can't think call it anything other than a impairment, at a minimum, There are other ways I would really like to describe it though It impairs us from having real meaningful relationships and dooms us to a life of dealing with bullying and fighting off the urge to take them out with an AK-47. And if you're lucky enough to not have to deal with that, we're more likely to kill ourselves due to loneliness. If there was a cure i'd take it in a second.

  • @articfox2276 *Can't think of or call it anything other*

  • @articfox2276 you detailed aspergers in every way its a very hideous malody with little perks anxiety and bulling im now 42 and still to this day some people try to bully me evan though im 6 ft 240lbs its like we wear pick on me tags!.

  • @PhilMyBod41 I think there are asperger support groups out there, if not then there should be. We are probably better off trying to be around others like us. I know theres a whole sub culture of us on the internet. Deaf people have the same thing. But i'm sick of using the net after all these years.

There is only one person that I know of, without Any doubt, who wants to be our friend and accept us for who we are. and thats Jesus. Give Him a chance in your life.ww w gotquestions org

  • @AustinJohnson07 i totally agree. and i have it as well

  • Well hello Dr. Hans Asperger!

  • it's the sirname of the psychologist who discovered it.

  • @AustinJohnson07 Asperger syndrome is named after the Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger. he had studied the non-verbal children that came thru his office.

they tend to name things after the person who either discovered it or was found to have it. in this case, the one who discovered things about it.

  • Catch out my Documentary Aspergers & Me on you tube & tell me what you think guys & girls, I have Aspergers & am proud of it

  • I have aspergers!!! :D i dont think its really a disability, were just like another race of people if you could call it that

  • You know, about the 1 - 100, it is only more due to the fact that the it wasn't diagnosed as much in the past. I think it's gone up a bit, but a good percentage is due to the fact that diagnosing has gone up greatly! Everyone forgets that.

  • Yes I do. You don't. You're not the one who has Aspergers or Autism.

  • i have Aspergers and i am fucking sick of several things: 1. the gay posters on this video 2. fucking morons who make fun of autism and 3. the fucking douchebags that don't understand aspergers like those autism speaks weirdos that think the autistic are retards because i could read, walk, and talk before anyone else

  • I like you :) -- fellow Aspie ;)=)

  • gotta show my support here

i could all that too before anyone else, yea true i was cute and looked at people/ things differently

but then so did my parents, who was to teach me any different?

  • Couldn't have said it better myself!

  • yea dude i would never give a kid with mild autism weed. bad idea

  • why??

  • Before anyone else will say "aspies and autistics should smoke weed", I want to step out and say that they should not. I have aspergers disorder myself, and I am not going to just sit here and let someone pass such a hateful suggestion like that. Smoking does more damage, it doesn't help. Plus it's disgusting and only the people who think it's cool does it. So leave people with aspergers or autism alone, average people.

  • dude its a joke, my youngest brother has asbergers, and weed doesnt do anything to your system

  • Thanks for telling me it's a joke, but smoking does do damage to your health. But, thank you for a nice reply. The first person I saw who made a comment with weed in it told me "**** your assburgers go kill yourself" afterwards.

  • APERGERS, not asbergers. And smoking won't heal aspergers. You are obviously uneducated about the subject. Besides, smoking is unhealthy and it causes more damage than lung problems. People with aspergers don't need over 4000 chemicals to harm their body.

  • This video just pissed me off the way they had this gay feel sorry for autistic people music playing with a picture of that who looks like he just got beaten with a golf club. Moderate to profoundly autistic people have it REAL BAD some of them cant even talk so I dont think its fair people like me would get thrown in the same boat as them. Unfair to them I mean.

  • Even though i know i have aspergers, i did not know about haardly any of these things its very intresting, thanks for posting it, me and my friend who also has aspergers often do get picked on at school by ignorant people and CHAVS. The only way of freedom from this for me is punk music. Every thought for me gets lead onto a different thought by being connected by another negative emotion, pure hapiness does not seem to exist as for me hapiness brings along with it a lot of other emotions.

  • I have Aspergers. I struggle during everyday, every hour, every minute and every second. It sometimes makes me sad, but I know I am unique for a reason. I see everything differently. I can't help it. But I'm special, and so is anyone else who shares what I have. We're special for a reason. We don't have to fit in perfectly to be successful. I am going to create change in the world. I am going to be a success.

  • the conspiracy.

  • Exactly one month ago today I was diagnosed with a mild form of AS. Had I knew about it sooner it may have helped me alot with things. Others pretend to understand, but they really don't. Someone once told me that a persons brain is not the persons soul. It's an organ just like any other organ in the body. Like any other organ in the body it too can malfunction as well. I have this too say. When I die my body and flesh will not stay, but my soul and my spirit will live on for all of eternity.

  • I said the same thing about me finding out sooner and wishing that I could have. However, then I thought about it and figured, well if they knew I was autistic then, they might have treated me "special" instead of like an average person. It would have been nice to have the "help", but a lot of NT's treat you like a freak. I think I learned faster since I was treated like a regular NT and not as an Aspie. BUT, I still struggled and was made fun of. You don't win either way, lol.

  • This is true as well. Although we are special we are also human. As Robert Cutler (former member of The Autism Commitee who has lived with autism his life) said in his words "I want you to know we love, have emotions and even cry. I get angry because people think we are emotionless, non-humans. We never lie but sometimes I feel being normal means you lie and get away with it. If you dont understand a child with autism, call a person with autism in. We live autism every day."

  • I hate the whole emotion thing. I don't smile a lot, at all, but for some reason every thinks I'm upset, when I 'm not. Then they persist, this is when I do get upset. Them nagging and nagging, it really drives me nuts! I told my husband that I'm not always upset, although I look it. The sad thing is, I only know how to show the emotion of being sad or angry. I rarely show happy or excited. And when someone cries or I did something wrong, I'm blank, on my face. I still fill bad, but CON...

  • thats because you hate people

  • You caused it! Humans always fear what they cannot understand. Me, you, everybody. You're just a communication disabled majority who doesn't know how to prevent certain thing things. It's tragic. You're causing your own hatred.

  • Asperger, antiautism, asperger. Seriously, why do you hate something that can't be controlled?

  • Yeah, and you're a FAKE, not merely a cover up.

  • CON...I just don't know how to express most of my emotions physically. I actually broke down today in our car at a parking lot today. I cried and cried TRYING so hard to explain myself. It's just so hard! I told him, living my whole life as a NORMAL person, I learned a lot. I'm still learning and we learn like NT's, but it usually takes a long time. It's taken me my whole life, I'm only going to be 24. CON 2

  • you're an evil sociopath, rot in hell!

  • You're a moronic grexophilic cow. Or a sheep.

Oh, wouldn't you have a social disease (which is what sociopath really means) if the manner in which you socialized had anything wrong with it? Oh, what you said wasn't nice. Sociopathy is just as normal as I'm not.

  • CON 2... I can someone feel comfortable when someone approaches me to talk or ask a question, which I don't respond as much, but forget me approaching them. I usually have to desperate for help to do that.

Okay okay, enough babbling. This is the longest response I've ever did on a video to someone, lol!

  • jeezus fuck thank gawd you finally shut your trap and shoved a dick in it

  • Every one don't pay attention to this coward. All of you, autistic or not, should be smart enough to know he's only saying this kind of garbage to cover up his small ego. Either that or this is just someone who made a fake profile only doing this just to get a rise out of people. Shame on you either way antiautism. Sunlight is the best disinfectant and you need to be disinfected.

  • "you would never have the guts to face a person like Seung Hui Cho in real life. People like you create people like that"

That is from a message sent to me from Ryofire defending Seung Hui Cho who, just in case none of you remember, killed 32 innocent people at Virginia Tech. Defending Seung Hui Cho sure speaks volumes about your credibility, Ryofire.

  • Also taking bits and pieces from the whole message of what I really sent you shows about how much of a sell out you are. As much as it's apreciated your approval isn't needed. You try too hard to act and sound intelligent. In reality though it only shows how much of a self righteous prick you are.

  • for the record, Ryofire also claims that he "identifies" with Seung Hui Cho...

  • For the record, antiautism said this about people with AS/autism: "you're not human, you're freaks like Seung Hui Cho who belong in a zoo, or you're just a self-diagnosed excuse making emofag." As I told you before I can empathize with his feelings. I know what it's like to feel trapped in a corner. This does not mean I will do what Seung Hui Cho did nor do I agree with what he did. Also why you picking on him just because he's dead and can't defend/ speak up for himself.

  • People like antiautism are the ones who are freaks. and they are dangerous in the sense that they can cause more prejudice an misunderstanding.

  • Keep trying to sell me out antiautism. It only shows more of how much of a wimp you are.

  • skrew u anti autism

  • @natedash11 We are no different than the Jews of Germany in the 1930's. But at least I want revenge. The rest of you autistic's must like the hatred towards your souls? join me for the quest in destroying all NT flesh. I have made my own mother cry by my hatred for her kind. KILL NT'S . All you mother fuckers will see me on the news. columbine, virginia tech, and now its my turn. revenge is the sweetest joy of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Locke1217 normaly i would join u out of the fact that i want revenge, but not all nt people are bad. just the racists and haters of autistic people

  • @Locke1217 honestly, i would love to kill all of the racists and jerks that hate autistic people, but i dont want to be given the FUCKING CHAIR. and i dont love being hated

  • I love the quotes I'm gunna go t-shirt printers at some point and get that "Honer Neurodiversity" printed on it.

    ^_^

The "I am not a puzzel, I am a person" is exatly how I felt when I was told I had AS and they started being weird with me.

  • Great Video. I think you can see the puzzle and puzzle peices meaning two different things. No one thinks you are a puzzle...that's where we all think differently and see things differently. My son is Autistic and I love the puzzle piece because you all are so wonderful and unique that together you make a great masterpiece. Just keep smiling, ignore the people who are too ignorant to understand.

  • This is a really good one!!!

  • good vid, positive about autism, Good!!!! thanks for posting!!!

  • Haha I read about Einstein and I think he had the same traits I'm talking about. I read that he acted like he was real clumbsy and careless. I also read that most people found it weird that he used a piece of string as a belt. Some people think I'm crazy cuz I use RF power cords as belts. They're easy to fasten, you don't have to restrict yourself to the holes in the belt and they look cool as fuck (at least I think so).

  • Don't throw aspergers and autism in the same boat. Full on Autists have real problems. They can't even talk. I'm only mildly autistic and everyone tells me they think I'm retarded first time they meet me. Its funny cuz I'm real perceptive and notice everything that goes on around me but I act like I'm ignorant, clumsy and childish so people assume I'm crazy or dumb first time they meet me. Despite all that I somehow always make good impressions in interviews haha.

  • Why would you say something like that when you don' have Asperger's? It is part of the Autism Spectrum as well. I don't think you would like people saying Autistics don't have any problems. :(

  • Yea aspergers is a form of autism. Its the same thing as what I've got. What I meant to say was I don't have any academic disabilities. I have problems with verbal communication though and that gives me problems in the workplace and interviews because I come across as retarded at first haha.

  • i dont like such slideshows with music that has nothing to do with the text . is that asperger or adhd?

  • We are just more evolved and thats my story and I am sticking to it ASPIE!!!!

  • I think it's stupid that people are going around saying WE don't have any PROBLEMS. I mean, everyone has problems, first of all, but Aspies are in the Autistic Spectrum.

  • "neurodiversity," that's a new one. cool.

  • good video! ASD awareness is a good thing and more needs to be done about it. i remember being shaefully ignorant to autism. i actually fell out with my brother when my son was a year old and liked banging his head on the floor..my brother asked if he could be autistic. then when he started school it became apparent he had problems socially and needed a very strict routine. he is 6 now and diagnosed with aspergers. i am all new to it, but learning :) and wished id listened to my brother lol!

  • As an adult w/ apserger's (who also has a child with asperger's), I just want to say, that I really enjoyed this video (had to turn the volume off, his voice makes me clench my teeth to keep from screaming...)

  • Most of that infomation is not in the autistic spetrem

I can't believe how adults treat dudes with aspergers as retards.

    wht a load of shit

  • It covers more of the full spectrum than say aspergers alone.

This both says we are all different, while sharing some things we may be different in from "normals." EVeryone with aspergers has above average IQ. I have aspergers, screeching children piss me off, the song in this video pisses me off, i hate his voice. I dont have speech issues, i have some reasonable ability to make friends, but I like heavy music like punk rock and stuff like motorhead. no screeching children tho!

  • screeching children make me shudder.. even when my dad whistles to a certain pitch it makes me annoyed XD

  • agreed, i dont know what is more annoying, attention deficit (not clinical) parents who just allow it or the screeching, high pitched noise making etc.

kids will be kids, but please, everyone, including those who dont have aspergers, dont like this kind of crap.

one time the kids up the street where lighting off fireworks, they where imitating the noise over and over. it was so irritating. i can stand the same nois from fireworks, (i can brace myself) but the constant irrational noise?

  • oh yeah.. man.. being in the phillipines during the new years is absolute hell for people with sensitive hearing.. The firecrackers are relentless like it's warfare!! and they're on the street!!! o.o it didn't annoy me though.. that i would remember..

  • I can't stand children! I wouldn't mind playing with them, if they could keep their mouths shut.

  • Hi thanks all for you comments, they are very much appreciated! Although, xKarenBabesx I don't appreciate your comments and it would appear alot of people share this view, as a result I am deleteting your comment, its people like you who make life for us a hell of a lot harder!!

  • I've been looking up this Aspergers because my BestMate has it. They can be wierd at times but very Intelligent with certain things too.

He can be really good to talk to at times and sees life sooo differently to me it can be very interesting to listen to.

  • People with Aspergers?

  • disiplin? lmao

  • great video....

now i know how my son must be feeling...

everyone saw him as " the naughty one"... now we have a name "autism/apergers". thing is my son who is 12 tells me " why should he need a title to what he has, why cant they except me for what i am".....

    12 but so wise...

  • my 6 year old says things like that :) he was seen as the naughty one, still is from some people :( but he is only 'naughty' when something messes with his routine or when he gets anxious

  • i have a question

can a autistic teen have anger manegment?

  • i am glad to see someone say all this.....my son's 6th birthday was yesterday, and he was diagnosed approx. a month before his third birthday....i miscarried many times before he was born and his birth was such a joy, so stay strong in your belief that you will create change in this world...had i not lost my other babies, my son would not be here today, and i know he is here for a purpose, just as you are..i believe in you, and all other aspies, as i believe in my son..stay stronganduwillsucceed

  • I think i have something with the way i hear things too.

People always say i speak VERY loud but i myself do not feel that.

  • autism is not a disease...well um what is it then... it's an illness just like any mental illness. god, it really annoys me when we are no longer allowed to refer to things like mental ilness and mental retardation, (which is actually a scientific term) because suddenly it is insulting. Autism is not a challenge it is a mental illness. I'm not saying you are retarded, im just saying that was once a scientific word and im annoyed that i can't use it because someone might cry.

  • also i realize how fucking mean i just sounded, but if it helps i suffer from depression... SO, i also have a metal illness or a mental retardation, if you prefer... but for fuck sake if someone calls me a retard im not annoying enough to say...no...i have a challenge to overcome, like it's some fucking maths problem.

    LOVE AND LIGHT

  • Is it an illness or is it the simple fact that NT's can't accept different thinking minds, let alone peaceful thinking beings.

I guess you have mental problems if you don't care to talk or socialize at all and can communicate with animals and would rather the Earth not be destroyed, but NT's just don't care.

And our melt downs. Leave me alone and I would be fine. Stop making horrible sounds and touching me, I'll be fine. Just leave me alone. I'll come to you...

  • @BabyBird77 it is NOT a illness. it is genetic. a illness can be cured. a genetic condition like autism can NOT be cured. it can be helped with proper understanding of what it is. as well as therapy for those with it.

though with some folks who think it is a curable thing, they could use some therapy on it as well.

  • Dude who ever thinks we are a retards makes me really disapointed in them

  • Great vid.

  • If I could just point something out, the "1 in..." quote is really bothersome because curebies use it as an alarmism in order to attract donations from the ignorant. The world's foremost expert in autism and his colleagues do not believe that there has ever been a change in the percentage of the populace that is autistic. All that has changed is awareness, and with curebies allowed to repeat such alarmist statements unchallenged, I do not think it is necessarily for the better.

  • I couldn't agree more...nicely put

  • very true, my dad thinks the rise in autism and ADHD is because of GM foods lol. he wont listen to me when i say the figures probably haven't changed but modern medicine and awareness has. he is very set in his ways though. kinda ironic seeing as he shows ALOT of ASD traits himself

  • Sometimes I wonder if the Autism Spectrum is a "disorder". I mean, you can have different colored skin and thinking people, why not different minds? I feel that we just communicate and see things differently, but that's a "PROBLEM/DISEASE" the the "NORMAL NT". Sometimes I just can't stand people and their ignorance. Especially how they want to "CURE" us. Yeah, makes us NT's. We want to be arrogant and destroy the world like you guys do. Riiiight...

  • Yeah I agree with you namekian. Everyone that knows me knows whatever the hell I have is no "disorder" its just a profound difference. I have loads of advantages over your average man thats why people think I'm some kinda genius when I tell them I have autism. Half of the great scientists and inventors have blatant autism traits. Newton, Einstein, Tesla they all have it. I doubt anyone would call their mindset a "disorder".

  • I used to have a problem with Sarcasm.

    I didn't understand it.

    Now i do.

  • I have Aspergers.

    I simply "stand out".

I do not have many problems with it.

  • People with Asperger are not retards.

  • rawr..annoyed much

  • i would have to disagree with the part that said we hear stuff 3 times louder and our smells are stronger. because i have aspergers and i have none of these problems.

  • Its not necessarily a problem, All it is , is hightened senses. Sure, Even I was taught to look at those things that I have as problems, when in truth, they were actually assets. Not everyone with AS has the same 3 variables in the same 3 ways. SO you're right for you:O)

  • i tried working in open plan offices before my AS was diagnosed and had terrible difficulty coping with people constantly walking behind me rustling papers, clicking fingers, catching my chair, muttering, whistling, clinking cups on the tea run...

  • Well, that's how symptoms are. That's why they put that word MAY HAVE there. A lot of Aspies have touch issues, sound, sight and taste as well. But that's a MAY HAVE, not always definite. However, There's a lot of Aspies that share common symptoms of course. Just like anything, we basically just vary like NT's do.

  • I 100% agree with the exlusion part :) In our sachool there are about 30 Autistics in one year group and all of us have been excluded atleast Once....

  • My son has AS and his sensory issues are hard for others to understand. Talking in a voice that isn't "normal" is yelling to him and smells send him over the edge if they are strong. Great job on the video.

  • I have AS as well, I think she did a wonderful job with this video. I have hightened senses as well. I have the same issue as your son, I take things wrong if people suddenly highten their pitch or volume. It's caused by hightend auditorial sensory imput.

  • Thank you for posting this! I am inspired by this!!!

  • Excellent Video :)
